A company doesn't 'hate' anything. It's not a human. It's a business. If by 'company' you mean its shareholders or board, do you have any actual examples of one of them saying this? If you asked most shareholders of a large business I imagine you'd find most of them are quite grateful to their customers.

There are a lot of reasons for this, some are Ubisoft's management team sticking their heads in the sand, and some of it feels like the inevitable end of the road for many other publishers. Game budgets spiraling out of control, rising borrowing costs, and decreasing public interest in your franchise. I know it's a meme to criticize Ubisoft for disbanding the POP team, but it's pretty clear now there's no money left to fund a new project for them. Seems like purely a business decision, and a desperate one at that.

When it takes this many large failures to bankrupt a company like Ubisoft, just think about how risky it is for a smaller publisher to create something even close to AAA. Not saying Ubisoft has been making quality games that last several years, but this isn't good for the industry. Take one look at Zenimax, then Activision-Blizzard, and now Ubisoft. We are headed into consolidation of the industry into a few large players who happen to own existing platforms. Even first party publishers are being pressured to expand their audience and move to multiplatform releases. It seems by the end of this generation, the only platform exclusives are going to be based on specs alone and a few high profile first party releases.

This is terrible for competition and terrible for gamers. And it's a shame, because it has been a fantastic time to be a gamer - from 2017 to now, I don't think there has ever been such a quantity of well made games of all genres.

Two great forces of incompetence. The Microsoft Windows team and Ubisoft.
I bet each is waiting for the other to fix the problem. And this is already going on for several months now.

I've probably written this elsewhere but the last three Ubisoft games I legitimately enjoyed were: Starlink Battle for Atlas (the Deluxe edition that didn't rely on the overpriced toys), Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Prince of Persia The Lost Crown. But even those had distinct elements of copy/paste designs. They just felt like a slightly fresh twist on them.

I haven't enjoyed an Assassin's Creed game since Black Flag or a Far Cry game since FC4. The Crew is a mediocre clone of Forza Horizon so if someone has access to the FH series, why would they want to bother with The Crew? I tried Riders Republic which was okay at first and then just became a bore. Very little of what Ubisoft releases interests me and, on the rare instance that it does, I'll just sample it with a one month sub to Ubisoft+ via Xbox.

I was under the same impression, but the character is all right. He is not the prince, he is trying to help the prince and there is a good justification for that in the story. Despite the zoomer hair he is not a modern zoomer in Persia and there is no rap in the game.

I disagree. I'd miss them despite their recent decisions. AC franchise has more hits than misses and even the misses were enjoyable to a lot of people. Same goes for Far Cry. Same goes for The Division. Thats a lot more games than all the other studios and yet people are celebrating them shutting down just because of 2 fails? How about instead we should hope they change their DEI-affiliate shenanigans and they go back to what we loved about their games instead?

The only value in UBI is the IPs, nothing else. Selling IPs individually would only lower the value of the company.

Smart move. One of the my top buying regrets for the year. Proof positive that every time I think I can do a new Metroid inspired game, all it does is make me realize that SOTN and Super Metroid are still the only ones worth playing and revisiting. And like you, I wasn't feeling the art style or character design. The Wakanda/Killmonger Marvel hairdo on the MC did no favors either.

If they put their "historical fantasy" game absurd musics, they still don't understand how deep they've fallen. We saw that they put hip hop music for the fighting scenes of Yasuke. They are really mental. Also they just had to put "One black guy [lots of historian say he wasn't even samurai] in the Japanese history" into their games. I'm not against black people of course but they did it with agenda. If you ask them they probably answer "He was real, and we thought that it will be awesome to play with him".

They put their agendas on a high priority instead of making a good game. They really had one job to do. Maybe Shadows will be awesome, maybe it will sell like crazy. But I can't shake the feeling that Ubisoft always put DEI shit agenda in the first place.

I'm playing AC series again from the start (because I really like AC series). I'm on the AC2. You guys maybe forget but even with lots of problems I can feel their passion and love for that game even after all these years. Renaissance Italy, Ezio, secret tombs, superb story, nearly perfect characters, very good gameplay, PERFECT musics etc. etc. You can see that producers put their love into the game and Ubisoft supported them. They even joke themselves about subtitles in one scene (AC1 didn't have subtitles and lots of people criticized it at that time). They made the game for the players, no secret agenda.

Really how low they have fallen. Yes they did it themselves but when you play their older games, you cannot help yourself to feel sad about Ubisoft.

Can't help but feel a little sad as the name Ubisoft used to be synonymous with ''Fun''. I think Rayman (PS1) was the first Ubi game I knowingly played and that shit was magical. Still holds up.

Ubi peaked with Trials, Far Cry 3 and Rayman Legends/Origins imo. Fun was still at the forefront. I liked Far Cry 4 quite a bit but it was at that point that I already sensed they weren't in it for the love of the game anymore but to make forgettable and easy to consume products.

Everything from there on out was simply downgrade after downgrade. Games cluttered with bad UI design, microtransactions and repetitive and shallow gameplay.

I do think it's funny that there were a couple gaf members who defended them till the end. Ya'll played yourself gj. That forced positive feedback definitely steered them into a better direction.
