yeah the fucking tiny fog of war unveil radius was driving me crazyIt frustrates me how some of the map has to be left white in little blotches. Still only in the second area, Fior?
I like the revenants, they're quite interesting.

Understood lolAbsolutely. I just like givingadamsapple shit
No joke I was certain that I liked turned-based combat. Was discussing for pages how FF7 Remake ruined Final Fantasy when they went for real time combat.I would give BG3 a big fat zero on the basis it is a turn based RPG and you couldn't pay me to play it.
(It's obviously excellent if that's your thing).
Avowed is sitting at an easy 8/8.5 for me at the moment - maybe 1/4 through area 2.
We know what we like. It's the main reason why I don't put much weight behind a metacritic score - one man's 'mid' eight is the best game you have played in months! No joke I was certain that I liked turned-based combat. Then I played BG3…..
Don't know what happened, maybe I'm just more tired nowadays or something, I fell asleep so many times, even during battles![]()
Just got this popup after downloading what I thought was a patch - 2GB. But I didn't buy any premium.. anyone else get this?

Still loving this area though, visually.

Does anyone know how you get down to the harbour area in the City on the desert map (forget the name). I literally spent over an hour last night trying to find a way down and i just couldnt. It seems there is a lift to the left but cant get to it.
That's what it seems like.. I definitely didn't buy it, still on the 2 week $1 trial. I saw there was an update, assumed it was a patch and clicked download but when I booted up the game, I got that message. Seems like it's true, because I can change the outfits now. Kind of like this Obsidian one for Giatta. I definitely didn't pay anything. But it also looks like the premium is still purchasable for me in the GamePass shop.. so no idea what's going on.You got the premium upgrade for free?
Nice, let me check if my game has an update pending too, lol.
- Ambassador Hylgard can no longer die from drowning in The Strangleroot while following the player, which was preventing him from appearing at the embassy in Paradis.

- Vemas now allows players to turn in Debt of Blood, even if they had already spoken to him upon returning.
- The player will no longer become stuck with no objectives active during An Untimely End.
- Fixed an issue where the player could become stuck in the environment near Dehengen's Cottage.
- Enemy loot will no longer disappear if the player killed Ygwulf and the assassins in the Cistern, saved their game, and then reloaded that save.
- Ambassador Hylgard can no longer die from drowning in The Strangleroot while following the player, which was preventing him from appearing at the embassy in Paradis.

Visual & Art Fixes
- Godless chests and sarcophagi now have currency in their loot lists.
- Upgrade materials (metal, wood, leather) are now more consistently available across stores in each region.

- Autosave frequency has been changed from 5 minutes to 10 minutes by default. (This can still be adjusted in player settings.)
- Autosave slots increased from 3 to 5.
- The ability Bleeding Cuts now applies Bleed Accumulation more reliably.
- Logging into Xbox Network on Steam no longer resets the player's selected language setting.

Miscellaneous
- Companion abilities bound to the Quick Slot menu no longer become undone after reloading a save.
- Added new settings for controller users to adjust gamepad look acceleration strength and ramp-up time.
- Corrected typos in the Encumbrance tutorial and on the Compiling Shaders screen (now correctly states "a few minutes" instead of "a few moments").
- Launching Avowedwith DirectX 11 is now disabled, as the game does not support it.
- Some players have been using a DirectX 11 launch parameter as a workaround for various crashes, performance problems, or compatibility concerns. However, this can introduce additional problems that we cannot troubleshoot or resolve, including unexpected visual or performance issues.
- If you're encountering startup crashes, we recommend updating your drivers, verifying your game files, or reaching out to our support team at support.obsidian.net for assistance.
It's definitely a looker. Enjoying just meandering around and the change of scenery is very nice. I like the subtle heat wave effect on distant areas. The third zone is my favorite so far. Lots of opportunities to for Lumen to shine.
Hmm.. I have 50 lockpicks extra, since sometime in act 2 have had way more than needed. You're buying them every time you see them? Also, economy is still busted. Also discovering there is a lack of lock picks in the game. Maybe the merchants inventory will refresh now with the patch.
I just ignore the upgrading most of the time, then do as much as I can all at once randomly, but after the first act I wasn't changing equipment a whole lot.In area 3 now.. happy it's back to being a bright area, the second area visually was really lacking to me.
Hitting a bit of a wall on the upgrade/leveling system... just taking ages for anything to progress.
Still having a ton of fun but I am just struggling to find enough upgrade materials now, and spending all my coin trying to buy some. I see what people's complaints are now, in the 1st 2 areas it all felt very balanced like "right when I'm feeling underpowered I get enough stuff/money to upgrade."
Yeah I think I went all last night w/o dying so it's not like I'm struggling, just taking longer to kill stuff than I'd like.I just ignore the upgrading most of the time, then do as much as I can all at once randomly, but after the first act I wasn't changing equipment a whole lot.
Publishers should understand that a customer budget for video game entertaining is not growing and when you have competition, your game might draw the short stick and get purchased. I think is a higher chance to sell 2 copies at 40€, than 1 copy at 70€.But would I pay £70 for Avowed? No chance. I wouldn't pay £70 for any game. I don't know why the gaming industry has allowed development to balloon to such an extent that these prices are required to recoup costs, but they need to get smarter (and I'm sure AI will help here and there in the long.
It's so true IMO. I'll eat up games all day at 15-40 range, but 50-60 I start to slow down massively, 70 or more would qualify as super rare. And it's likely I'd buy 3 games at 30, 2 at 40, where I might buy zero at 70+... It's really true and it is noticeable and odd.Main complaint in regards to the controversy about it being woke would be that almost every captain of the guard type is a woman. I don't really care if there was even 50% but it's more like 90%. It's just weird.

That's just the accent they've given to Vailians in Pillars of Eternity prior to this game, which some areas have more of. It's kind of like a romance language mashup.Yeah, I noticed this too.
Overall the game has a weird vibe. It feels like the world is a big mismatch of different things and it's missing personality and characteristics. Then randomly there are bunch of people with an Italian accent.
Weird! I have no idea what happened.. very strange.
I mean nice thing about PC gaming in particular is the deep sales over time. I rarely buy games at launch, not because I'm stingy, but because I realized a long time ago I shouldn't buy a game unless I'm legit wanting to play it that day/weekend lolBut would I pay £70 for Avowed? No chance. I wouldn't pay £70 for any game. I started getting twitchy when the prices went from the ~£30 range to the ~£40 range.
Disclaimer - I am Scottish and tighter than a gnats chuff.
Ah OK, makes sense. I played Pillars to some extent, but can't really remember much of it.That's just the accent they've given to Vailians in Pillars of Eternity prior to this game, which some areas have more of. It's kind of like a romance language mashup.

In the end for me I paid $70 + tax for Avowed and already got a ton of entertainment out of it. Like 30 hours so far, it's cheap!

The lighting in this game is something else. I don't think I've seen such a coherent lighting from day to night, indirect lighting and with little to no artifacts. Performs good too. Probably the most impressive I have seen with UE5 lighting to date. The desert make it so high contrast during the day between where the sun hits and the shade. I can't imagine what this could have been with proper HDR.
Love the 3rd area so far. Whomever designed this world with the parkour and esthetic design of it all at Obsidian needs a raise. Incredible job.
Use it all the time! I like it a lot, can't imagine any melee without it.Anyone using parry, does it feel good to use?
My great axe, if I enchant it will give me 20% health back upon successful parry. But want to be sure if parry is fun to use and is effective.
Thank u very much.Use it all the time! I like it a lot, can't imagine any melee without it.
It's fucking gorgeousA bit of yesterday and tonight

RDR 2 is unfinishable for me. Will leave unscored else will offend others.
BG3 is good. 9/10.
Avowed might rank in the 8-10 range for me as well.
Slightly off topic, but would love to see Obsidian do a remake/upgrade of Morrowind.
The engine would clearly handle the more atmospheric areas.
Managed to get the "positive" ending at the end of the 2nd area. Considering the issue in the cave was solved covertly, every fool seems to know that I did it.
Should make future interactions with the Steel Garrote interesting...
And it's the Oblivion* sequel we never got? With a little of the old BioWare personality thrown in? Why was I not told about this earlier?
