Good news is it'll be funded a couple times over by the deadline. I just wish they hadn't committed themselves to a Dec 2025 release date when independently releasing on 3 platforms and still only showing 'pre-alpha' work.

i never played the first one, i kept confusing the sinking city with call of cthulhu , which i loved. I need to check the first one out now. damn.

The first one when it comes to gameplay was literally AWFUL. I dont have high hopes for this game, I hope I am wrong though

Yeah I found it pretty rough to look at and it just didn't feel good to play. And this was the PS5 version.

Hope this one turns it all around and learns from stuff like SH2R, AW2 (even though it sucks) and the REmakes. It looks cool.

Can't wait. Looks like they're going full survival horror this time instead of Sherlock Holmes Cthulhu edition
Yeah, that stuff turned me off to the first. There was another similar lovecraft game that came out around the same time and I remember it being middle of the road, so I skipped Sinking City despite being excited.

The Stinking Shitty getting a sequel is crazy in this atmosphere
Set reasonable goals and budget yourself appropriately and anything is possible. It's when everyone is trying to be the next GTA or Fortnite or Overwatch, that the disasters happen.

On topic, I have yet to play the first one. I was interested due to the Lovecraft themes, but the gameplay did not look great and my backlog is too big to justify buying something that's only okay or is just going to sit in my library for another year or two before I can actually play it. Also, being a new dad has limited my free time, unsurprisingly.

Man, i wanted to play the first game for YEARS and upon getting it a couple of months ago...yeah
Jank jank jank jank jank everywhere, stilted animations, awful character models, asset reuse galore and J-A-N-K, needless to say, i dropped it after 3-4 hours...

Apparently, i need the bare MINIMUM of production values as to be able to play a game 'cause shit like this...oooof.

It's a shame but, it is what it is

First game was good, this trailer is very good. Graphics so good. And i use the word good to much but this seems to be a really good game. Will be waiting.

Nice! Will keep an eye out for this one. UE5 showing how an indie kickstarter can shine. Just don't fuck up performance!

The first one i enjoyed in the first hours but it became repetitive pretty quick.

Visually they improved a lot, this looks good, those eastern/central europeans studios work their ass off.

I love the psychology of the first game. The monsters on deck, with sharp spears, creepy. It made me sad. We are the monsters! The protagonist is the whale.

Sometimes I also believe that it's us that are raising hell for farm animals, with us as devils as the maintainers.

Noice Thats Nice GIF

Not gonna lie, I like the change from detective horror to action/survival horror. Playing Sinking City 1 sometimes felt like playing another Sherlock Holmes game. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm always hungry for more survival horrors.

They are making it more action when action was the worst part of the first one, good luck i guess.

I think they should have doubled down on the investigation stuff, that's what made the game unique, not being wish.com resisdent evil that are already kinda clunky by default.

Yep fully agree

I watched the videos of the first game and it was an unbearable narcolepsy... Lots of talking and generic action... Frogwares at the forefront of boring.

Completed the first game and it was incredibly janky and buggy. Lots of buildings and assets are copypasta. Very distracting.

The vibe and atmosphere was top notch, but obviously more ingredients are needed for a good meal.

Delayed to next year.

Hello everybody,

After a lot of discussion within the team, we've made the decision to shift the release window for The Sinking City 2 to the first half of 2026.

The Delay

While we hadn't shared a specific release date, we know many of you were expecting a 2025 launch – and so were we. However, ongoing challenges related to the war in Ukraine, including frequent drone and missile attacks, incoming power outages and the need to constantly adapt to unstable conditions, have affected our development pace. Rather than rushing to meet a target that no longer makes sense, we're taking the time needed to finish the game properly and will share a new date once we're confident in it.

This additional time also gives us the chance to polish our first-ever survival horror experience. Shifting from decades of investigative adventure design to a genre built on tension, pacing, combat and atmosphere has been both exciting and demanding, and we want to make sure every part of it feels right when you finally play it.

We can't thank you enough for your patience, support, and understanding. Taking this extra time ensures we can deliver the experience we've envisioned from the start – tense, atmospheric, and deeply unsettling in all the right ways.

Can't imagine how difficult it must be to go to work and try to keep your passion for developing a game in the midst of a brutal war. Stay safe Frogwares and take all the time and safety precautions you need.

Had a lot of issues with combat and the boat traversal in the first one.

Also, the juxtaposition of different factions and the mundanity of the supernatural was weird. Not good weird. Just awkward and broke suspension of disbelief needed in Lovecraftian lore. Like fish people wouldn't just be accepted as easily as it was even for the plot reasons given by the game.

I didn't hate it. It was ambitious and swung for the fences and I am open to them growing as a dev team.

I'll keep watch on this and hope the year delay let's them cook it more.

It looks okay, more like the Alone In The Dark reboot, but the first one was not good and combat was outright garbage. It started off really interesting but became a stupidly repetitive, boring jankfest pretty quickly. I appreciated a lot of the ideas but the execution was just bad most of the time imo. Dropped it at some point. Can't say I have much faith in this.

shame, but im fine with it, there's a war, its a miracle they are as productive as they have been the last few years. Let em cook, I love their games, wish there was more like them.

I'm pretty stoked about this. The first game is one of the best games based off of HP Lovecraft around.

Hopefully we also get a sequel to the official Call of Cthulhu game.
