Metal Eden Demo - download it, it's awesome

Seems like a cheap Doom Clone with some nice graphics. Probably AI generated. Don't think anything will be like HROT or Selaco anytime soon.

I read the complaints here about the X axis acceleration and I have to agree with those complaints. There are some barebones sensitivity settings and they don't help at all.

Overall it feels clunky when engaging multiple enemies and especially ones that have ranged attacks. Perhaps upgrades throughout the game could make things feel smoother and tighter during action, but in the demo it is just clunky enough to feel disappointing.

Regular grenades are mapped to R1, and Weapon Swap is mapped to Triangle on PS5. I wish that could be changed. You can rip enemy cores out and use them as grenades but that is with L1 button. The cores are a large part of the gameplay loop it seems. They can be hurled as grenades, or charged and then used for a Super Punch that breaks armor on armored enemies. It was underwhelming, at least in the demo. None of that packed any oomph to it. It felt hollow.

Maybe these things will be better in the main game after some upgrades, and later level with more varied enemy encounters, but it all just feels flat and clunky in the demo. If there is a speed and intensity that they're going for, I didn't feel it.

This might be a game where the best parts are at the end once you're upgraded and whizzing around levels like a badass cyborg ninja, but as it stands the demo isn't giving me those vibes.

yes the x axis is junk but its a demo so

Tried it on PS5 Pro and yea the aim acceleration thing is weird as fuck. Does not feel good at all. Also noticed that you can have the crosshair completely to the side of an enemy and the bullets still hit the target. Do they think console players can't aim or something?

Tried it on PS5.

Awful. It's a dollar store iD software game, with janky gameplay.

Releasing this pile of shit in the same month as Doom is something else.

I had a lot of fun with it, guns and movements feel good, but the aim acceleration is jank and the performance had some issues, hopefully they can patch it up a bit. I think I'll pick it up on sale or something, had a nice feel otherwise and I quite like the design and visuals. The dude chatting in your ear is annoying though, just sprouts non-stop pretentious crap all the time.

I had fun with this demo, it's kinda rough but feels like Doom Lite, I hope they polish the visuals and framerate but it runs fine enough to not be too much of a bother

Demo is fun! It does feel as if it could use some polish. Probably will be an on-sale game for me, but this year is stacked so that's not a huge indictment

What are you guys talking about? It's already quite Polish-ed. It's developed in Warsaw.

Not my cup of tea. Feels like ghostrunner with guns. Controls did not feel good for me personally on ps5, clashes with the game's intention to run n gun.

Calls this game a "cheap Doom clone with nice graphics" then compares it with two cheap Doom/Quake clones with shitty graphics....

I don't even...
I don't even either considering the movement and systems are much more refined in both HROT and Selaco then the jank that's present in this game's demo. It controls very badly. You can get a much bigger game with this style of gameplay with Rage 2.

At least you know it's a cheap Doom Clone instead of a good one. Cheers.

The Demo was worth a shot but I got bored after 20 minutes of fooling around.

I am not sure how much will improve with how close it is to release.

Yikes, that's all I'll say. And I have played both HROT and Selaco.

Demo was fun, but the performance was terrible.

And that camera acceleration bullshit, who the hell thought that would be a good idea lol

oh no... how is this still a thing?

I haven't played the demo yet but that is an instant red flag (unless it can be disabled somehow)

It's an interesting one, the camera basically has a delay of 1 second+ until it picks up to full speed, so initial moving is 1 sensitivity value, and then after the delay it's a much faster input.

Playable, but it should not have it as its very jarring in combat and If you increase the sensitivity it increases both of these values together, so they both get faster but never match and you can't turn it off.

yup, that sure sounds like aim acceleration... the fact that this is still even a thing is mindboggling to me... I mean as an optional thing, ok... but this should have died after the PS2 gen.
we live in a time where brand new shooters on controller have worse analog aiming than fucking Quake on N64, and that is insane.

when Quake remastered released on current gen, it in fact also had extreme aim acceleration AND deceleration, and had thereby objectively worse controls than on N64 where it has neither :messenger_loudly_crying:
at least they patched it after a lot of backlash.

I noticed some weird stutters playing this and I noticed that you cant turn off motion blur which is ewww. A doom clone is cool. I think the world is more important for something like this and then of course good enemy variety.

It's decent. The graphics on the pro are odd though. It has like heavy dithering or something. Not sure if it's old PSSR code or something. Hope it gets cleaned up and the graphics become crisper.
