The Last of Us Season 2 reviews are starting to come out

I think the miscasting has become kinda more obvious with this season (going by the premier) where it's supposed to be an older Ellie. The actress playing her still has a very baby-face.

Bella Ramsey looks like she's 10 years old. I can't take her seriously.

This was a horrible miscasting.

Am I the only one that is very irritated that Pedro can't grow a full beard?

And he always has the same exact mustache look in practically everything he does.

It's the Mandalorian in The Last of Us.

Just started tlou2 on pc last week or so, its an awesome game so far, Im with Dina in Seattle.

So far going back to Bella Ramsey is really.. making me have to adjust.

Didnt think she was that great in S1 either, but her dumb face is kinda annoying me now.

I feel like rooting for Abby this time around.

Isn't she supposed to be like 20 in the game? So a woman is playing a woman. That's just a made up salty comment from a woke sissy or a defence force warrior.
That photo is from season 1.

I feel sorry for the girl playing Ellie, she is getting torched for her looks, and that's sad. This is on Neil lol. Like what the actual fuck dude, almost everyone cast has some resemblance to the characters in the game, why did they cast this girl? Every clip I've seen on X of her acting is also atrocious.
Almost no one of the cast in season 1 looked like the game versions. Pedro Pascal has a beard but he doesn't look like Joel. Also Tommy and Maria. I don't understand why Bella gets the complaints but not others.

Stopped after watching the gay episode in season 1 and didn't feel like I was missing out on anything to be honest. Wasting a whole episode on those guys (whilst I enjoyed the episode) really didn't push the overall arc of the season forward in any meaningful way. Plus I fucking loath Pedro Pascal. And that they/they moron.

It was a great episode, one that finally took its time to set something up. Sadly it had absolutely nothing to do with the overarching story.

A waste of an episode indeed.

I'm a hetro hater of the first season who thought the gay romance was probably the best episode. That's how badly I'm avoiding watching any more of this. Almost everything about it paled compared to the game, but Bella Ramsey's casting in particular was just ghastly.

I loved TLoU's story

I liked TLoU 2's story, but it was the gameplay that makes it great.

I was very hyped for Season 1, mainly to see my non-gameplaying friends and family's reactions.

Far less interested in Season 2, especially if Pedro doesn't get Par 3'd yet. Might wait until Season 3 comes out to watch them back-to-back.

When Bill said he had a partner that he cared about and implies that hey died, that's all I needed to know. I wish they could have spent more time with the main characters.

I complained about Pascal a few posts before yours.

The guy can't grow a beard. And that is an iconic look of Joel, a full beard.

Yeah the episode is great in isolation but completely took away from the overall arc of the show. A note left behind that Joel finds would've better served in the house instead of seeing this episode.

Still, it served it's purpose (and we ALL know what that purpose was/is) and that's that I suppose!

They could have simply done the following

Do the cold open with them lovingly being in the house together, or just normally going about their business without showing overt love for eachother

Then do a normal episode with Joel and Ellie exploring and you can have great character development in there

And then at the end they find the house and find them both dead in the bed or something, like skeletons

I know it sounds cheesy and Bethesda like with finding the skeletons lmao but still it would have been better

Yeah but THE MESSAGE (in my best Critical Drinker voice)!

i enjoyed it but i honestly hate how they revealed Abby's intentions like 1 minute into the show.

Ok I will say this as someone who has never learned any spoilers for TLOU apart from the fact that
Joel is killed.

I started the game on PC last week, and when Abby was
super into killing Joel
I assumed it's because he killed the fireflies in TLOU1??

Without making any assumptions, because I have not played with Abby beyond that part, and right now im with Ellie and Dina in Seattle, but isnt her intention obvious?

I can't. I just fucking can't with this thing who is supposed to be Ellie. I'm 5 minutes in and I just watched her beat up a fully grown man and then she opens her mouth and it's just so truly awful. I'm going to pass on this season and just keep the memory of the game in my mind.

She seriously looks like a little kid.

The casting is so stupid.

That's not cheesy at all; that's simply good writing with solid nuance. Well done.

Maybe i am wrong, i haven't played the game in a few years but i remember Abby not specifically bringing up Joel until they take shelter with Abby's people

Yeah it's really weird having the show jump forward 5 years and have the person look the same and almost act less mature. I only really played half of the first game so didn't really have some big issue with the casting for Season 1, but the "time jump" isn't really working because of her.

It's funny because she pulled off 14 OK at 19, but can't seem to pull off 19 at 22 or whatever she is lol

Beyond that the characterization in episode one was of a hateable asshole. I really can't stand obnoxious know-it-all "teen" characters in any media, but it's usually some minor character I can try to ignore, not THE main character lol

I would love to see Nail fail and get caned, ND was once a game dev, nowadays they are full of themselvs trying to make "art".

ND still make games, HBO made Season 2 of The Last of Us TV show and scored 96% on RT in their second attempt to make art. Not what I would call being full of themselves lol.

Yea they're quite pretentious now.

Quite the opposite, ND made a 300+ game of the year winner, HBO made a multi award winning TV series - Neil has every right to let this go to his head yet he stays humble as fuck.

Season 1 was crap too, but highly praised. I don't know how anyone got past the 3rd episode. Same with that trash Halo show. And Like a Dragon. And just about every single TV show about games.

Started the first episode and shut it off the second they showed Bella Ramsey successfully locking in a triangle on a guy three times her size.

Sorry, but fuck off. The zombie apocalypse is a more likely thing to happen than that. If its trying to keep a grounded atmosphere then that scene drove a truck through the entire notion.

Look at the development time increase over the decades wish we could go back to 1-2 year 90's dev times. As announcements go we have Intergalactic Heretic project and a strongly rumoured AAA also in development. Factions 2 should have released by now too. RIP.

Other than Neil, no ND staff are part of the film crew for the TV show, they're cooking up new games.

Will start season 2 tonight :)

Why is everyone so focused on the game? The TV show is mainly done to attract new audiences...and it doesn't have to be a carbon copy of it.

We've been over Ellie's casting on season one...what did you all expect?

Try watching the show unmuted next time, they clearly say he's holding back.
