Sorry to say this but threads like this just show that a subsection of the audience are just idiots, plain and simple.
Obvious statement #1: Not every person on a development team is involved in the visual styling and the narrative aspects. So claiming/acting like everyone who was on a team that made a "woke" game was instrumental in making it that way is dumber than a box of rocks.
Its like suggesting that when Budweiser had its idiotic "Dylan Mulvaney" moment everyone involved at its breweries overnight became super progressive!
Second obvious statement: Despite all the shit flung at Concord, from my observation it was at least technically competent, and even if the gameplay wasn't great, we all know damn well that its gameplay wasn't the problem. It was the presentation that turned people off.
Which leads to the obvious conclusion that the reasons for its failure should be laid at the feet of a certain group of people within the team, not everyone who happened to work on it. As I've noted before, game-dev is not a democracy. It has to be led top-down or else chaos ensues due to the absence of shared vision for the project.
This being understood, a team member of a failed project hoping that people give a different title that has the potentiality to get caught up in the same socio--political shitstorm, isn't at all a bad thing. In actuality its a rather decent thing to do.
The reality is this; and its coming from someone who frankly never gave two-shits about Concord and has no particular interest in Marathon for that matter. It would be a shame if a good game was never given a chance because people are so hung up on (effectively) beating a dead horse!
