Definitely not renewing. No way in hell Extra is worth $190 for someone who plays single player games. This likely also solidifies I'll get GTA 6 on Xbox since my Game Pass is covered by MS Rewards. GTA 6 will have online worth trying at some point.
 
I understand everything eventually goes up in price, but since Coivd it seems that everything is increasing at a pace far outstripping wages.

Not only that they said the last time it went up this much last year that's its needed to bring in the quality. It bad month after bad month so they are taking the money and do the bare minimum.
 
Cancelled it, I dont need any of the games they give away as part of it, cancelled game pass too. Games I want I buy and by the time they go on plus ive played them and moved on.
 
I mean, I keep telling people you have to vote with your wallets.

Unless you're big into playing online games that aren't F2P, you shouldn't buy PS+ and if they keep increasing the price of PS+ play online games on PC where it is free.

If the MAU for PS+ continues to rise, Sony will have no issue increasing the price until they see the MAU numbers decrease to a level where they are making less money than they were before they raised the prices.
 
I dropped PS+ when they raised it a couple times back. Very quickly resulted in me leaving the ecosystem completely. No multiplayer. No sales prices for most things. Really soured the experience for me.

I would love to drop it but they hold my ability to transfer game saves from one console to another hostage. It should be illegal but here I am paying the ransom. 🤷‍♂️

*I would totally suck as a hostage negotiator.
 
Cancelled PS Plus a long time ago. Even back then it wasn't worth it and now Sony is raising prices like crazy? Yeah fuck that. With every passing year I lose more and more interest in Playstation.

Its really shitty that you can't do the usb backup anymore.

If they would drop the forced cloud saves and mp most people would drop plus in a heartbeat.
 
Never subscribed because I'm a single player monkey who doesn't do multiplayer.
I also buy all my games and have a big backlog.

But those prices are ridiculous.

Keep in mind that sony recently announced that this has been their most profitable generation ever. And by 3x or 200%. yet they keep shuttering studios, cancelling games, laying off devs and increasing prices on 5 year old consoles like they are about to run out of business.

the people at the top, especially in japan, are a bunch of ex CFO bean counters. They dont care about gaming or their other products. They only care about increasing their stock prices so they can get a big bonus or raise at the end of the year.

They are no different than Microsoft at this point.

The stock prices are now at around the same value they were before Microsoft bought Activision. So, all their greed has essentially restored the stock price to where it was four years ago. 🤣

100% this is such a joke that in 2025 your own save files are pay gated.
I moved all my mp to PC, this is why a closed garden sucks lets them do shitty this like that and get away with it.

Probably just exchange rate adjustments. Also, Sony knows where their bread is buttered. One of the goals of the trade war was to devalue other currencies so US citizens would have more buying power. If the other countries were able to buy as much and at as high a price as we do they would get all the perks as well. It's DEFIFNITELY not fair but neither is life. Check out how cheap Ninty is selling Switch 2 in Japan. Besides the low currency value, Nintendo also knows Sony is on the handheld prowl and so they are undercutting them in the Japanese market which is of course the zeitgeist of handheld gaming and the world center for handheld game development. Nintendo knows what they are doing. I can't always say that about Sony but they aren't as dumb as we give them credit for.

Honestly Switch 2 might be the console I migrate too if it does indeed get Cod. It's $25CAD/yr for mp access...
 
Yea, i'm definitely out. Not renewing and will sell one of my ps5 pros for sure. Consoles are looking like a big L now.

Covid showed what people are willing to pay. Just like the ongoing trade war is going to show what people are willing to pay. When businesses know that, they'll know that's how much they should charge.

Funny thing is the Euro is like the highest it's been in 3 years, didn't stop Sony from increasing the PS5 console price. At least when they increased it back in August 2022, the Euro was basically par with the dollar. They're just taking the piss at this point, especially since Xbox offers zero competition in that region.
