Watching Lirik right now, man the graphics are dreadful. They have all these neon designs but then put a drab brown/gray haze over everything making the visuals look washed out, muted, depressing and unappealing. Such a bizarre design choice. And then weird stuff like the super low-res ground and water textures and physics. I just don't understand why they're doing this.

Gameplay so far looks insanely boring, the map is boring, the objectives are boring.

The UI/UX is super cool, I love the aesthetic of the menus.

If this is all the game has to offer it's not even going to last 3 months.

Edit: he quit the game because he was bored, lmao

I cant stand the vegetation/tree/mountain design. Its fucking awful. Interiors looks great.

Gameplay however looks pretty bad. Objectives are indeed boring, the loot is boring too. Dunno man they have a LOT of work to do. Wouldnt be surprised if they delay this until next year

how I feel.

Yes! I said the same thing during the gameplay reveal. The cinematic trailer was pretty good, everything was high definition and clear, there was a ton of detail in every scene. Now obviously gameplay isn't going to match that degree of detail but we have crazily detailed games these days, even in Avowed looking at the castle walls or a rock formation shows an incredible amount of detail.

Now look at the gameplay reveal and everything looks more blurry, dark and washed out. An issue multiplayer games like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals and CS2 don't have. I don't understand what's going on with the lighting in this game but it looks dreadful.

Not to dump on Bungie, but if this is all they have to show on release then there is no reason to stop playing things like Helldivers 2 or Hunt Showdown in place of Marathon. And from the way the Bungie devs spoken they are working on a "story" just right now and their microtransaction plans are sounding worse than Destiny 2.

No one will stick with Marathon to see what will become in the future if it doesn't deliver at day 1. There are just too many games out there to play with the gravel.

One and done.

Was so cringe in the reveal how they kept repeating "realistic graphics" like some BS marketing adage hoping to brainwash your lying eyes.

Majority of gamers are not this nostalgic over PS1 graphics, another eye roll with their "design philosophy" for this game.

I'm optimistic because I think Bungie has some of the best feeling shooting in the business, but holy crap does this game look boring.

That's how all extraction shooters are. Very slow games where not a lot can happen.

My instant impression it's just a much uglier Apex legends and with worse gunplay and that released 6 years ago.

There's no way the gunplay will be worse in this game than Apex. I don't believe that for one second. Everyone has commented on how good the gunplay is in this game.

Hunt Showdown in place of Marathon.
PvE seems far more engaging than Hunt though.

In comparison, Hunt is basic af with braindead AI and bosses that you can cheese every single time by just standing outside a building and shooting through an open door until the targets are dead.

And a lot of times, you won't encounter other players either.

Having said that, Bungie probably should increase foliage and maybe AI presence.

Loot seems much better than Hunt, which is basically just the bounty from the targets.

Gunplay/gameplay looks rocksolid though.

Watched about 15 minutes of a stream and I don't see this doing well. If this was f2p I would at least give it a shot, but it just doesn't look very fun. Nothing stands out as terrible (well, maybe the in-game graphical style) but nothing stands out as being very good either.

Even if they go for the $39.99 price tag, I don't see this being anything other than a massive disappointment sales-wise.

This game is extremely appealing to me. I just hope it's realistic to be able to play solo or unfortunately it's probably not going to be a game I'm going to buy as I don't have a reliable group of friends to play with.

There's matchmaking. Going by hunt, that shouldn't be a problem, because I never really had an issue with random teammates.

There is nothing "worst" about their gunplay.

well, going by Destiny 2 (as I have not played Marathon yet)

1: it heavily relies on aim assist as well as strong bullet magnetism and massive hit boxes

2: zero depth due to a relying mainly on random bullet spread with bloom

3: on controller their controls are stuck in 2004, with a single awful reaction curve, aim acceleration that can not be turned off, axial deadzones that can not be turned off, and a lack of settings to finetune. which is why they need to heavily rely on aim assist as with milder aim assist like in Apex or Fortnite you wouldn't be able to hit anything due to how shit the controls are.

they are the worst in basically every way you can look at it, except maybe for audiovisual feedback. but everything else is worst in class.

I just figured they were going for a more arcade approach. Fuck all that shit.

they are, this game is close to being the most stripped down version of an extraction shooter you can make without completely stripping away main elements of the genre.

in Escape from Tarkov people are stacking backpacks inside other backpacks... just as an example how a "non arcady" version would look like lol

Looks kinda boring to me, but then again I think the same about all extraction shooters.
Guess I'll check it out when/if they have an open beta, but I'd never pay for it.

Yeah it's weird.
I actually like the art style in the trailers and key art pieces. But in game it just looks dull.
The menus looks terrible too

I mean we're obviously just a bubble here and I do occasionally see people hyped for this game in the wild but I sincerely get the impression that the overall sentiment concerning this game is at best a "maybe it's not total shit, we could give it a chance".

With the alpha gameplay continuing the bad impressions I simply don't see this doing well.

Reminds me of Overwatch - more fun to play than it is to watch.

Also, I sensibly laugh at the "graphics are bad" comments. Gamings prolitariate can be so amusing sometimes.

Edit: Some people seem to be commenting on slow / sluggish gameplay...looks like the Concord situation again.

Watching Shroud play he seems to really like it. I've seen some decent matches.

Surprising great is the term he used.
