Breaking: Xbox and Microsoft reveal global price increases for consoles, accessories — and even games

Xbox were already struggling with console sales and this will probably be the final nail in the coffin.

GTA 6 at this rate will be whatever T2 want to make it :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Next-gen will be WILD with the prices at this rate, better of jumping to PC at this rate.

People keep pushing the view that gamepass is a great value but i have a hard time believing it for one simple reason. How in the hell could anyone play and beat enough games to justify the cost of us monthly when you're a working adult with responsibilities, kids, a husband/wife etc etc. Most people don't have enough time in the day to be able to play games often which results in not being able to play/beat a ton of games monthly.

That's why you only really see the most hardcore/online gamers pushing it because it's really only for those sort of people. The casual gamer doesn't give a shit about all those games because they know they'll never be able to play them all.

I do wonder that impact this will have on the gaming industry.

Personally, it means I'll be buying less games than I normally would. A lot less.

So once again, the USA was subsidizing other countries when it came to product pricing.
In a system where these trillion dollar corporations unrealistically want an infinite amount of growth every year despite already making an insane amount of money, yes...(but as others are saying, the prices are already insane in some other countries, so not really lol)

Xbox is already a dead console outside the u.s so I don't think this will help much. Seems desperate.

They may lose money once they write down the high 6 and 7 figure salaries and benefits they pay their army of Xbox hardware engineers, but they're almost definitely not losing money on the BoM
Yes they do. Particularly Microsoft.

Stop being delusional.

how do you come to that conclusion?

i'm sorry bro but the UK and EU have been raped by Sony for generations whilst the US has had it easy. $800 equivalent PS3 launch price in the UK.

Genuinely think we'll get £99/$99/€99 GTA.

I was wondering why doom the dark ages was showing up as a 79 euros purchase on steam. I guess I now know why.

That's one way to "raise" the value of game pass

They are subsidizing the prices to the rest of the world so americans do t have to pay $1000 for a gaming console
Or it shows the drastic shift coming on currency values. ;)

It's called being cheeky to cheeky comment.

The only price I am interested in is PC gamepass. Although I'm guessing that price hike might follow soon. Would have cared about their controllers but my Series controller developed drift in a little over a year so they are out even if I cant get my preferred 8bitdo controller.

The 2tb Galaxy edition series x consoles were only a limited run. They don't even make them anymore so why even post the price? Either way MS are complete and utter morons whose greed and stupidity knows no bounds. They can't sell consoles as they are now so they decide to increase the price anyway? Morons.

Owning a PS5, Series S, X, and getting a Switch 2 at launch is starting to feel like investments lol. They will only cost more with time, not less lol

Well this is what people in the US voted for and that is what they got.

I am very upset tariffs are going to ruin gaming and other hobbies of mine. Time to vote in new people against tariffs

Maybe I was wrong about Microsoft. Maybe their goal was to make everything else so unattractively priced that they basically feel Gamepass is the only option....

It won't work. The only move MS could make.....and it would SUCK if this happened...is to buy Valve and Steam.

Paid £329 for the Astro slim bundle last week. Series is is now £299 :messenger_loudly_crying: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

In a way it's even better that Xbox are third party now as if you used to own both consoles you can now just own a PS and still save money despite absorbing all of these (and future) price increases.

Makes being a 1 system owner really appealing though, whether that's a Switch 2 or PS5.

It will be $80 for the singleplayer and $40 for the multiplayer. 100$ for the bundle with both.
I disagree only because I think the online element is now more popular than the single player element. If they split it I think it'll be £70 for the SP and £70 for the MP.

Also, do not be surprised if prices continue to raise across even more electronics and technology. Especially those connected to Chinese manufacturing, which is a lot of those companies. None of it should be a shocker.

They are not in a position to raise prices. They should reduce the price now to sell all they got before next gen starts.

I don't get the argument that Xbox priced games at 80$ because Nintendo just did.

If anything this points more towards the fact that Nintendo already knew that the industry standard when it comes to price of premium games will soon be 80$, which is why they felt confident in pricing MK World at that level. MK World being 80$ won't be seen as strange when even 1 million copies selling Xbox games will be priced 80$ in the near future.

No, it's more of a case of Nintendo introducing a higher pricing tier for their games starting from May 2023.
It's the exact reason TOTK was $70 on Switch 1, and why that tier is now $80 as everything got a $10 price increase.

What's going on here, how is Nintendo and Sony maintaining their price points while ms are doing this. Are they just giving up? We will find out in few months time when traffics are lifted.
