Breaking: Xbox and Microsoft reveal global price increases for consoles, accessories — and even games

If you think PC isn't going to be affected then you are fucking delusional lol

Probably, but 5070 price just went down in Europe and it's funny that the card is closer to XSX in price than the 3070 was to that same XSX 5 years ago lmao

Agree on games price tho, just look at Doom at 80€ on Steam (or FS2024, or CoD), but for those worried, let me remind you there's great games like KCD2, PoE2, Expedition or that there's a great Elder Scrolls like game coming soon called Tainted Grail, all of them being between 30-60€ only on Steam, of course none is made from an american studio.

lol....2TB XSX costs more than a PS5 Pro

My bet is not for long..

The pandemic was used to increase prices because of shipping costs. Once it ended the cost never came back down.

These tariffs are being used to increase prices. Do you think if the tariffs go back down they will decrease the prices? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Once the price goes up. It very rarely ever comes down.

Just wild. Not as bad as the US but still absolutely insane that this is happening 5 years into the generation.

Do I buy a ps5 pro while I can get it cheaper....lol
If you have any general interest in getting one, you can be assured that the price can only go up and if that happens, in the absolute best case it would go back down to what it currently is, but it likely will stay at the higher price even if 'global economic conditions' allow it. There is absolutely zero chance it will ever be cheaper than $699 before the PS6 releases.

I said it with Nintendo and I'll say it here, I'm out on $80 games. I have a 15 year long backlog of games I can play. I don't think the games industry will crash (yet), but as prices increase, more and more people are going to draw a line and get off the ride.

I'm not sure what is more scary; these price increases or so many in this thread seemingly acting oblivious to why this is happening.

I could have told you that at the ps5 launch. I laughed at all my sucker friends who said they'd wait a few years to get ps5 at half the price while they continued to play their shitty PS4.

Wiped the smug look right off their faces when they ended up paying the same price as me years later. They said we were the suckers paying €500 for a ps5 😂
I am one of those suckers indeed.

People went crazy over the 800€ PS5 Pro, when Xbox is selling the same console as before 100€ less than Pro.
Either there are double standards, or no one really cares about Series X.

Silly take. There is zero point in pretending like Sony won't absolutely be following suit, in kind. It will happen. There's no question whatsoever. Sony raised prices across the board a few years ago due to pandemic supply chain economics, and they absorbed it and ate it in the US in order to avoid risking sales. Xbox has held firm on pricing all along until now (we're in Year 5 of this console gen). Sony will not simply eat it again, not when their two major competitors are both publicly listing their prices increases in the span of a month apart form each other. Though I'm sure they're enjoying Nintendo and Xbox taking the bad press, so that when they inevitably do the same, it won't be covered as negatively. It's smart, that's for sure.
They will raise prices but nobody knows when since they have been stockpiling in preparation. And the increase might not be to the same extent as Xbox since they have much better margins in ps5 to begin with. They have the flexibility to subsidize more aggressively since unlike Xbox they actually sell consoles and games.

Might be more strategic to keep the current price as long as they can to really drive the nail in the coffin for Xbox. Especially with GTA on the horizon. Also to stave off potential competition from switch 2.

True.. We have NOT returned back to pre covid and now everyone knows that it's acceptable.

Blame the flu, blame inflation, blame wars, blame tarrifs. Does not matter what it is now. We WONT ever return to 2019 world again

It was always delusional for some to think that Nintendo would be the only ones raising game prices to 80$, Nintendo have a lot of contacts with other big video game companies, they already knew 80$ will soon be the new standard for AAA games. The reason they announced it first is just because Nintendo probably has a stronger position than most other video game companies, due to strong brand IPs.

See? Now that Microsoft no longer has any competition, they can set the price.

And because PS6 probably won't happen, Xbox Series S 2 is going to be $999.99

Bargain bucket prices, what are you talking about?
Is £179 for a Series S on Black Friday not bargain bucket pricing? £249 regular price? It came out 3 and a half years after the Switch 1 and retailed for £30 cheaper!

Look if you honestly don't understand how these two things are related, then there's no explaining it to you. I would have thought it's pretty clearly self-evident.
Yeah, good one.

Do I buy a dualsense edge now ?
Are you in the states? Target has a 15% off any online/in store purchase and despite it saying that it doesn't work on PlayStation accessories it worked on my Edge. I'm gonna use mine to get the SW2 Pro controller.

It makes it $170 USD

It is what it is. If you have a job, work hard and love your work. Get a job if you are not working. Proper budgeting, for yourself, family and extras for gaming. You can still enjoy gaming.

Wow series x costing more than the pro is crazy, wonder if we're gonna get those cheap pc builds from colt eastwood Lol there were plenty of those for pro

They're tapping out of the hardware biz. They know nobody is gonna buy these and they don't care. Now they want to sell PS gamers games for $80 plus tip and seduce PC bros to gamepass which will undoubtedly go up as well.
But, these will then eventually end up in stock liquidation sale for fk all. Wouldn't it make more sense to do sale for $100 less now and be done with it?

We won't. The Federal Reserve pumped TRILLIONS of new dollars into the system during the pandemic. Nearly 40% of all dollars were created from 2020-2022. https://mises.org/power-market/how-much-did-they-print

Nobody buying it anyway. The $80 games is the real kicker. Thanks Nintendo, looks like that will be standard now.

Even if Sony did follow suit it would be way less impactful.

Xbox sells their console off the idea of cheap games. Being the discount PS5 was all it had going. Now it's the more expensive PS5 with no console exclusives.

I get trying to make sense of this by saying Sony too but you are premature. Sony hasn't raised prices in the US.

Instead just accept it.
