Fantasy Life i has launched globally, and it appears to be a very big hit. Players are raving about it, the scope of the game seems to be massive, performance on all platforms seems to be excellent, and it seems to be off to great commercial success as well.

The game only launched yesterday, but we already have the following metrics for it:

  • Steam CCU: 45,195
  • Steam Reviews: 92%
  • Nintendo eShop: #1 and #2 ranks
  • PSN Store: #35 rank
I can't find it on the Xbox top sellers or most played, unfortunately, but it seems like it is doing extremely well on Steam (somehow better than DOOM The Dark Ages...), and obviously excellently well on Switch. It also seems to have found a good audience on PS5.

As a Level-5 fan, and a fan of the genre, happy to see this game doing well!

Game is cute and funny. Oh and as addictive as cocaine.

Wonder what numbers will this have on the weekend. I have the feel that many skipped work today to play this shit lol.

I played the 3DS game for a bit, love how well this new title is being received. But there is no way I'm paying 70 euros for a game that looks like that... They should've priced it around 40 bucks. Instabuy.

Loved the first one on the 3DS, it was one of the few open world RPGs on that platform.

Not sure I'm interested in playing it on something less portable than the 3DS.

To be fair, the game is one of the top global sellers on Steam (by total revenue) since yesterday. Seems to me like they priced it just right.

People be hungry for that Animal Crossing-like experience.

Glad to see it's doing well, here's an old post of me bemoaning that the dozy fucks at Level 5 skipped the Switch and lost millions.

Just rewound it. April is too far away. they'd be better off making it Switch 2 launch and getting the Animal crossing crowd with the new building stuff. (unless Switch 2 is definitely backwards compatible.)

I'll never understand how Level 5 missed out by not having the first Fantasy life and DLC on Switch with the missing jobs added in. They'd have made a fortune piggybacking off of New Horizons.

Level 5 is one of the few developers in my life that have had a consistent impact on me. When they stopped releasing games in the West I was crushed especially after ni no kuni II. The sales performance is a relief. It's awesome how they're embracing Steam as well.

I did not play the latest animal crossing (AC: Covid edition) but this game feels really well polished to me. The art style and execution fits the theme really well, the interactions and mechanics while simple are well laid out, diagramed, and their animation UI/UX response feels really good. There are a lot of life's to pick up (job classes) and while I have not dipped my toe into co-op yet it seems like it would be a very fun family game.

Feels like a great "gate-way game" for new pc players as well. The engine scales really well and it looks/performs very well on lower end hardware (my steam deck and a laptop with IRIS graphics) so if you are looking for something that might hook a significant other who spends all day with candy crush this might be a great game for them and their shitty work "ultra book" :messenger_winking:

I agree 100%, at first glance it looks like a $39-$49 game. If I wasn't in the mood for some light hearted, low-stakes, gameplay I would've waited for it to come down a bit.

But with that said. I'm having a blast and haven't had any buyers remorse as of yet.

My four year old son is playing hello kitty with my wife and likes to walk around and do stuff. You think this is something he could handle with me alongside him?

Game has no voice acting, and the menus might be difficult to understand at just four years old. Unless he's already learned to read and has pretty good reading comprehension, this is probably too advanced for a typical four-year-old.

I'm referring mostly to the gameplay mechanics. I intend to play with him and read.

Nobody talked about that tbh, but yeah, I think only GTA 6 or maybe a more improved version of MonHun Wilds, games of that caliber, might be worth 80 euros. But even that's debatable...

its looks like a kid game, its any good ?
pretty good, yeah kinda kiddy, but very good one.
combination of animal crossing and light action rpg
the combat is simplier, but that's not the focus of this game.
in this game You will need to "work" as lot of jobs, including tailor, fisherman, etc, sort of medieval occupation.
nice and sleek in my opinion, relaxing literally role playing game.

Am I the problem? I played about an hour of a friend's copy and I just could not get into it. I've been curious about the series since the 3DS days and idk this just didn't grab me. My impression of the game when I walked away was "this is tedious." I say that with like 800 hours in stardew valley.

Is this similar to Dreamlight Valley but without the atrocious FOMO/Micro-transaction thing ?

If yes i'm in.

Edit : Well i'm in but later : the price is very high for this kind of game.

I am not fan of talking about worth of a game. If you are buying the game, it obviously is worth the money to you. And if not it is not. Going by the graphics or length of the game shouldn't be the standard.
Terraria for example is worth the world to me, so i would buy it even at 80 bucks. Enderal is free and i still donated 60 bucks.
If it is your standard to measure worth than ok, but it is thankfully not a real standard.
You pay for a great experience.
GTA 6 would probably sell even for 120 bucks, because people are willing to pay.

just my 2 cents
