MindsEye, the new game from the former GTA producer, is considered a “complete disaster”

  • Reportedly a broken mess, filled with bugs.
  • 15 hours long story
  • Driving feels "stiff"
  • Cut scenes look great and are well animated
  • Enemy encounters lacked depth and enemies just "run at the player"- Combat generally feels fine, very-GTA like
  • "Arcadia" is the content creation mode that you can get into by stepping into a portal, only available for PC at launch
  • Arcadia can be used to build encounters around the map
  • Developers seemed to hint that the main city (Red Rock City) doesn't have much content and will be a focus post-launch
  • Previews think the game should be delayed

Mindseye has seemed like a massive red flag for a while now but this seals the deal, it's unbelievable to me that this is a game launching in just 3 weeks on June 10th, I'd say avoid pre-ordering this and wait for reviews at least before considering picking it up.

The trailer for this that they showed during a State of Play a few months ago looked incredibly uninspired. I honestly couldn't figure out if it was a new IP or a revival of some third tier series from the late '00s or DLC for an existing game.

I was always going to wait for a sale for this, but I'm not convinced it won't be that janky kind of fun. Maybe if I wait long enough it'll be a "No Man's Sky" situation.

Ah that's too bad. I was hoping this was going to be good, but once that gameplay trailer came out, looked a bit rough. I was hoping it was just predevelopment issues, but I guess that's not as I'd hoped. :(

Maybe they're going for a No Man's Sky trajectory? Get something out there, then iterate the fuck out of it over the years, treat it as more of a platform.

And on another episode of "no shit news"...
I mean it looked half baked from the moment they revealed it, I know people were trying to cite former Rockstar pedigree as some sign of quality, but this is not it.

The only way to save the game and have reviewers rave over it is to make the protagonist a gay lesbian bald wheelchair bound hermafrodite black asian hispanic masculine transsexual.

Hey, developers, I demand 1% of the revenue for saving your game!

Lol..

It was always a linair story, the city is the backdrop like Mafia 2. It was never a sandbox game.

It was also always looking like a 7 7.5 type of game.

Oh no it has bugs well its a preview event so usually those have not complete builds.

Oh they didnt invite a specific YT'er? Major red flags guys!

Holy fuckballs

Also lol where is the 'complete disaster' part coming from? Thats not in the original tweet. The agenda against this game is crazy

Yeah GTA is made by a billion dollar company and this is the studios first game

Smh 💩💩💩💩

Lets keep comparing the small new studio to a billion dollar game! Quite fair

I'm just talking about Driving Physics not the whole game. You can achieve fun physics without billion dollars, smh.

🤷🏼‍♂️

I havent played it so How can I judge the driving physics?

But there arent any open world games with better driving than GTA so I dont think its a fair comparison at all

Will pick up on sale come Christmas with several
Patches. Looks like one of those mid games I usually enjoy. Not everything has to be stellar sometimes just looking for a decent AA mindless game.

By the sounds of MattyPlays, sounds like a shit game.

Too bad too, since I thought it might be a good B-tier game for a bit cheaper. Like a linear Just Cause or DC Headhunter game.

This is one of the problems of western gaming. Cutscenes > everything else

Nobody has ever bought a game for its polished cutscenes! Their priorities are completely wrong.

Devs still going for those magic cut-scenes like it's FMV cd-rom clips in 1995. But instead of a film crew, it's CGI programmers.

Games never change.

I was looking foward to it, looks like it could be a solid singleplayer Mafia-like game with a futuristic setting.
The money probably stopped flowing so they have no choice other than to release the game is my guess.

If they fix the most egregious bugs and the game turns out to be a 6 or a 7 I'll still check it out for sure.
Rather give this a chance than give Randy 80$ for BL4.

It was obvious as soon as i heard it was created in this Roblox like environment to sell as content creation pipeline. 500 or so people employed to make crap. Utter waste

That whole Arcadia thing sounds bizarre. They give you tools and you basically just make your own game?

I don't understand why they don't just explain what this game even is.

He was never in a creative position.

He was a game designer for GTA V and lead designer for Red Dead Redemption... and GTA Online was supposedly his baby, he absolutely had a big say in the gameplay of some of the best Rockstar's games.
But from the various rumours we've heard throughout the years, Rockstar's way of working was never that organized in the first place, like, there are stories of Sam or Dan having a random idea mid-development and changing the scope of the games because they made the devs add new features that were not planned and the likes so it's quite obvious Benzies was never the biggest mastermind behind GTA games like some people made him out to be when the news he left Rockstar came out.
