Why are you not buying a Switch 2?

Im not a handheld gamer, in area where i live u would get jumped imediately when some1 spotted u gaming on such an expensive device, hell ppl lose their jackets/shoes/100$ phones on a daily basis for this very reason :D

And since i dont care/cant really take advantage of switch 1/2 portable mode(maybe only on the toilet, but those campaigns arent prolonged enough )- in my eyes it just looks like extremly weak/nerfed stationary console(i know its handheld hardware and very ambitious specswise for what it is but endresults matter here).

I have deep love in my heart for many nintendo ip's/ games but wish they offered much stronger exclusively stationary device that is strong enough to play all switch2 games at least in native 4k60(or dlss quality which is very close to that, at least when it comes to its transformer model aka dlss4)- something like 5060ti 16gigs aka under 500$ gpu, so total 700$ priced console would be perfect, around ps5pr0 powerlvl.

Im spoiled by having 3080ti from back in mid 2021 which is about 2x stronger from base ps5, superhard to get back to a lvl which is maybe at around a quarter of ps5(xss is around one/third) :messenger_astonished:

- The price of the Switch 2, games, and accessories are too high
- The 3rd party launch titles are disappointing — I have all of those games on other platforms and have played them to death
- Outside of the Nvidia GPU, the S2 hardware is pretty meh
- Joycons are the worst (the ergonomics are still awful, the mouse functionality is stupid, and having replaced 3 pair of joycons with my switch due to stick drift am not convinced they've solved the problem this time around)
 
I eventually pre-ordered one but without any game lol.

The Game Key Card situation will have to be solved before I invest in games, as far as I am concerned. Not buying any Game Key Card. Nintendo better offer proper options to publishers, and these need to republish their games on proper carts.

I've never bought a Nintendo console at launch. Usually I buy them very late, some of them when they were even discontinued (Wii and Wii U). Switch I bought in 2021 but soon realized I mostly played on my Series X anyway. Switch 2 has very little to offer me that feels exciting. And the pricing... It's way too expensive. I'll finally get one, probably, but if the price stays the same it would have to be when there are enough games that I just have to play. And even then I will hesitate. I just don't want to support this kind of pricing. Mario Kart World is 83 euros in my country. It's insane.

I don't travel or commute all that much these days so have no real need for a handheld. Never was a big fan of Nintendo's games and there is really no need to buy a console just to play these 4 or 5 games during the whole generation. Also, games should never cost €80-90, so no.

- I live in Japan and it's annoying to get ahold of the international one for a fair price.
- I'm not sure I will use it enough to make it worth it.
- I sold my original Switch cause I never used it mobile, and the emulated versions of games were far superior in fidelity.
- They haven't announced any huge titles that really get me excited enough to my the system.

If I come across one in the wild, I may buy one, but I'm not making a fuss about getting one this time around.

I'm mostly waiting for a bigger library as I play third party games elsewhere. Having said that if I see it in a shop somewhere I might impulse buy it. Just not worth spending time trying to secure one now for me as I don't really have an interest in it.
 
I pretty much always have the current nintendo console and already sold my old launch switch back in september last year, thinking the switch 2 would come earlier. So for me it's just about restoring acces to part of my library. And on top of that, my daughter starts to enjoy games and i believe the switch will be great for local multiplayer with her.

It's a combination of reasons. While everyone is totally done with switch & crying it's too old & shit now i'm still happy with it. There's a regular stream of games still coming out. A nice mix of shmups/rhythm games/indies ect, hell even now i have 8 more games still witing to be shipped to me at my post box in japan so i'm hardly starving of games yet. There's a massive list of titles i still want to pick up for switch before some become too hard or expensive to find. I go at my own pace fomo doesn't work on me at all i'll buy the new one when ready probably in a year or so just like i did with the switch too. By then supply will be more stable, bugs in the system will have been worked on and a few more games will have been released.

I'm also a 1990's kid. I think it depends on what genres of games you enjoy. I love platformer and adventure games in the vein of Mario and Zelda. But I have friends who are much more PC gamers and enjoy strategy and FPS games. So I've been leaning more and more towards Nintendo as I've gotten older while they have become mostly PC only. I think you're kids might have your taste in games too lol.
 
I think I want other people to beta test it first. I like Nintendo games but I don't like being burned by day 1 hardware, regardless of who makes it.

Yeah, it could be that they've done some magic with the sticks. But I'll be suprised if they cam make it ergonomic, all pics make it look like holding a plank at least with adult hands. It's probably fine for short gaming sessions.

But really looking foreward to reading some in-depth reviews.
 
I'm just not Nintendo's target audience, nothing they do interests me. I grew up with them back then as a kid but they have 0 pull for me today. I tried back then with the original Switch, but outside of BotW, SMT V and TotK I didn't really engage with it much. It's a shame because I really like the hardware itself, but the games just aren't there and I'm not someone who plays games outside anyway so the handheld aspect doesn't hold much weight for me either. In order for me to get a Switch 2 I'd need a bunch of huge megaton games that would kinda signal a sort of paradigm shift. Duskbloods could've been something like that if it wasn't a multiplayer title for instance. If I get one it'll probably because of a new Zelda again before I sell it.

At this point I barely have the time to play all the games I want to play on PS5.
The system also doesn't have any particular game announced at this point that I'm looking for, the From Software title could have been one but the it turned out it's multiplayer.
And of course it's pointless to buy the system for the downgraded versions of third party stuff.

It's just doesn't make sense if you mostly play AAA shooters...

I know COD is coming but BF6 is most likely not. It doesn't even really have much in BC library. Also anything it does have is just going to look and perform worse.

I didn't like the first-party output for the Switch that much, don't care for Splatoon, Fire Emblem nor Xenoblade and the open-world Zelda games aren't my jam.

Also, key cards, 80€ games, paid online, bad ergonomics... I'd rather stick to my PC and old consoles.

Don't sleep on Splatoon.
Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion got Portal vibes with its clever stage design. The Side Order DLC for Splatoon 3 is a superb rogue-like, that particular DLC got little fanfare and Nintendo deserves more credit for it. I prefer it over Returnal.

 
A mix of don't care and waiting. I still have a Switch, but I'm also not exactly happy with it. But it does the job. Can't justify the Switch 2, though, just for improved performance and visuals for two games I still have on my list to play (BotW and TotK).

So unless a new Zelda or another excellent exclusive I really want, I don't particularly care about Nintendo.
 
I'm buying one purely because I don't expect it to drop in price significantly for a good few years.

Besides Mario Kart there's not much I want right now but I know once there's a few other games that intrigue me I would get one anyway.

So I might as well just get it at launch.
