I got two different clear Amazon ones that I am returning because of this.

I think that only the MUMBA one is dockable
do you feel like thumb grips are useful/necessary for S2 (or all controllers)? I've never used them before but I'm intrigued.

Duderino, just for the fact that you won't be wearing down the silicone on the original ones, yes, they're worth it (very much so), especially since these friggin' things cost 90€.

Then you also have the ergonomic factor to take into account since the top of the analogue sticks become more grippy.

I've been using thumbgrips since the X360 era and I wouldn't have it any other way, just like screen protectors, it's one of the cheapest investments you can make for your new hardware.

so....multiplayer gaming? It's like when Apple announced the revolution in adding USB C connections to their iphones
Serious question: Can PlayStation and Xbox do quick and easy 4-player video chat like Switch 2? I've never tried it so I'm not sure, and weirdly enough, I can't find a single video of it on YouTube. I'm sure they can though.

Looks like fitting in the dock with a cover of any kind is an issue with Swtich 2. The one I currently have from Amazon is pretty thin and it still doesn't fit very well. At times Switch 2 isn't making a good connection with the dock. Skull and Company might be the best option overall, but it is sold out until July last I checked.
I really like my Skull & Co. (now Savage Raven LMAO) NeoGrip so I just threw in an order for a NeoGrip 2. Amazon says it will be available in July so I'll keep an eye on things and if something better comes up between now and then I can cancel the order. I don't mind waiting a bit since I don't have any travel plans within the next month

Just offered the dbrand grip for this thing

For a good one off Amazon for $20 but it covers up the stand so I'm going to send it back

It absolutely cannot, and certainly not with multiple people on one console at the same time.

Playing 2 players at home on one console with 3 players across the country on a second console with seamless voice chat, no headsets, no secondary apps, no alternate profiles... that's pretty incredible.

Have your noticed the system gets pretty warm? A friend with one was concerned for his when playing the welcome tour because apparently you take it out of the dock while playing that.
the console does get warm even on sleep mode docked

Well, surely those consoles can easily do it since it's such an old feature and Nintendo is just playing catch-up. I'm just looking for a video of it so I can compare the ease of use.

Like something really cool in Mario kart world is that it takes the video feed of your face and puts it in a little bubble above the carts in the game so you can see the expressions of your friends and family members when they speed by after hitting you with a red shell or when they're about to get fried with a volley of fireballs.

Understandably they make you verify the video chat account with a phone number before letting you get on but after that, it's really easy to get into a video chat with friends and family. Simply hit the chat button on the controller. Send the invite and Bam you're into it. No need for twitch or discord or whatever.

I finally unboxed my Switch 2 Pro Controller.

Holy shit.

The Switch Pro Controller was the most comfortable for me, it just had the dpad ever so slightly off and the arms slightly too short.

The Switch 2 one has perfectly fixed those issues. It is slippery, and that it still doesn't have analogue triggers, plus only two back buttons is annoying. But holy fuck is it comfy!

You won't find that video because the functionality doesn't exist.

The microphone on the dual sense is the closest thing to Nintendo's solution and the voice quality is infinitely worse.

I love how it saves the back button assignment on a per-game basis. Great controller. Would be even better if it had 4 back buttons.

Mine gets delivered tomorrow and you've got me hyped!

I recommend putting a screen protector on for any new users. I've seen a lot of posts on reddit already about people scratching screens. I didn't waste any time to put one on. But further to that will anyone or has anyone had any luck with any actual covers for the entire Switch?

That anti-shatter film they use is extremely easy to scratch or scuff. I'm talking inserting it into the dock a few times easy.

Also any little scratch on the plastic film will visibly disappear once you put that glass protector on.

so its always worth

In case anyone else has the same problem: I updated my 8BitDo Pro 2 controller to the latest firmware which somehow seems to have pretty much bricked the controller. Couldn't connect it to the Switch 2 and the green lights were blinking in a weird way.

After that I couldn't connect it to my PC via USB either, but after some digging I found the following solution:

- Remove battery from controller
- Hold L, R, Start while plugging in the USB cable to the computer
- Start the firmware update software
- Update the firmware again

My first time, the software crashed but the second time - it worked! Now the controller connects to the Switch 2 just fine 🙂

What do you use it for? I really want to test it but I'm not ready to buy Civ 7. What other games use it?

Fortnite got a patch to use it. you can even use both Joycons at the same time as a mouse... not sure why you'd want to do that, but the option is there lol

Yeah I've heard. Which is why I didn't take very long to put a protector on. I could imagine parents who buy for their kids who don't buy a protective screen protector straight away might end up having a bad time.

The accuracy of the gyro of the new joycons is noticeably improved over the Switch 1 joycons. Previously I've been playing Okami on my Switch OLED in portable mode because using the gyro for the paintbrush in docked mode was a poor experience because they didn't track well enough. But now on the Switch 2 the gyro tracking is so good that I can use the paintbrush really well in docked mode.

Also, in Skyward Sword the movement of the sword is easier and more accurate on the Switch 2 joycons. It feels nice.

Lastly, the joysticks feel noticeably smoother on the Switch 2 joycons compared to Switch 1 joycons. When I was playing Mario Galaxy on Switch 1 I decided to stop and go back to the Wii version of Galaxy because the nunchuck and pointer controls were better on the Wii compared to the Switch joycons. But now, with the improved joysticks and gyro tracking I feel that the Switch version of Mario Galaxy is overall the best version when you consider that it's now in HD. The controls are close enough to the Wii version (if not superior in some ways e.g. motion tracking) and the fact that it's in HD makes it the best version of Galaxy overall.

Bunch of switch games on sale

Anyone recommend any? Last Mario game I played was Mario 64
Damn that's a lot of games on sale

The games with free Switch 2 updates are a good pickup

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is getting a paid Switch 2 update later on so if you're thinking about playing that get the Switch 1 version on sale now

I felt this gyro improvement too when I tested Tears of the Kingdom. the aiming felt way smoother and more precise.

I wonder if they increased the polling rate of the controllers.
that was an issue with Splatoon especially. Splatoon 1 had way better aiming than 2 and 3, due to the lower latency and higher polling rate of the Wii U Gamepad.

Fortnite's implementation of mouse controls feels god awful. Instead of using the R button to shoot...it's the ZR button, and you're still aiming down sights with ZL. Let me use it like a friggin' mouse. ZR to aim, and R to shoot. Also again, using the face buttons on the right joycon way too much in mouse mode. If they were smart, I could have jump on ZL or something, and pick up on L. Cyberpunk 2077 didn't fair much better with it's mouse implantation either. Don't wanna hear "not enough buttons" being the reason. They just need to remap that shit when you're using mouse controls.

The finish on it is very good and like you say is so comfortable and impoves on the original. I also like the matt grey finish at the top rather then the black shiny material on the otiginal. This was very prone to scratching with the charge port and a finger print magnet.

I honestly gave up on playing it close to launch because of the performance issues but am having a blast on Switch 2 now that it doesn't run like ass.
The part I hated the most was the most northern edge, where the fairy star base is.

For whatever reason THIS was where the framerate would frequently dip to the single digits…but now, I was just grinding for levels up there and I didnt notice a single hiccup

It warms the heart to see that Nintendo being able to meet the demand for Switch 2 consoles (in Australia at least) means that some scalpers are having fire sales already.

Of that list, these are worth it. However be aware most of the Woot games are from alternate regions and may have compatibility issues with DLC/your region's eShop.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Luigi's Mansion 3
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee
Super Mario 3D World
Super Mario Bros Wonder
Super Smash Bros Ultimate

The ghosting on the screen is so visible on old switch titles really putting me off at the moment, I don't see complaints on graphics of things like Mario Kart World, game looks beautiful especially at night

Lads do we have any news about Xenoblade Chronicles X: DE getting a Switch 2 update?

In other news, I can see myself using it as a handheld because it feels very nice in my massive hands. Surely most of the time it will be docked though

is the dbrand killswitch the only grip with detachable joycons? I might just get that one instead

There are some others but none are worthy of getting based on reviews. I bought one to try, but it was crap and returned it. Only problem with dbrand is that shipping takes a while. I ordered mine this past weekend and still no shipping update. Could be they are waiting on stock, but they don't tell you that. Just sitting in "unfulfilled" status. Spoiled by Amazon I guess.

According to their FAQ, orders only start shipping on June 16th with those that had a reservation being prioritized.
