FAST Fusion - Switch 2 - Digital Foundry Analysis

no wonder that the Perfomance mode looked the better to me thsn the balanced mode. it's for some reason the higher internal resolution of the 2 modes.

either way, their abuse of DLSS here makes the game look like absolute garbage in motion. I will wait for the DLSS-free patch next week

There's a DLSS-free patch coming?

Game looks great but, yeah, they abused DLSS on this one, it was clear from day one.

Switch 2 is more of a 1440p console imo, graphically intensive games should top at that. And I was under the assumption that 4K on Nintendo DLSS wasn't as expensive as some speculated so it's good to hear more opinions on the matter.

BTW, this was a proper analysis, the MKW one felt REEEALLY lackluster imo, like they rushed it to have it out and not talk about it ever again...

Docked
1080P | 60fps - 540p
1440P | 60fps - 504p
4K | 60fps - 648p
4K | 30fps - 720p

Handheld
1080p | 60fps - 360p

360p is diabolical

WOW! I hope it still looks great

without the frametime overhead of DLSS they will probably be able to push the internal resolution higher. but I think even with the current internal resolutions, a normal and stable TAA would look better.

I have never seen DLSS look this bad before. I actually didn't really think this is using DLSS when playing it, I just thought it was some really bad custom reconstruction method similar to FSR2, but even FSR2 usually doesn't look this bad

lol I've literally seen nothing at all, it's too fast, playing on Balanced docked and it looks grrrreat!
Fav game so far 👌
This Is Fine GIF

How did they manage to make DLSS look so bad? This looks like FSR 2.
edit: oh upscaling from very low resolutions

Really. This is beyond all the usual pause and zoom 500% and look at shadows nonsense. Once you're blasting at 1000 mph with extreme tunnel vision staring at the center of the screen until your eyes tear up you're in no position to look at any dlss problems.

I dno dude, I noticed it right away when the video started playing. IQ is terrible, glad to hear they're fixing it though

Some people cant even tell the difference between 30 and 60fps
I'm not graphic expert and have no issue playing games at 30FPS but I have hard time believing there are people out there who cant tell the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS.

Really? Good for you, maybe in Shin'en they also didn't see it but for me it's pretty obvious. I mean they can use DLSS all they want but upscaling to 4K from 720p is not the way to go... I'd rather have them upscale from 1080p -> 1440p, if 4K is too much maybe they should offer that, Switch 2 is more of a 1080p - 1440p machine, it shines in that range. 4K is great is the game isn't so graphically demanding or for Switch 2 Editions of Switch 1 games using DLSS (current ones don't use DLSS that's why they're stuck at 1440p)

Hey they spent 30 seconds talking about the game at the end. lol.

The graphics comparison felt like being at the optometrist when eventually you're asking him or her to flip between #1 and #2 a third and fourth time.

TBH, I already thought it was DLSS but was like "maybe Nintendo DLSS isn't that good"... Well, this is not the right game for this type of reconstruction at this low internal resolution lol. They really abused it.

I miss the time when games were created with consistent graphics that the system could handle. Now it's high graphics at super variable low resolutions.

You didn't play the game though did you?
I'm serious, you won't have time to look at any image artifacts, you risk crashing just quickly glancing down at your boost meter. With that insane speed there is so much you have to be laser focused at; curves, jumps, opponents, color boosts, pickups, different routes, obstacles, etc. And you quickly advance and get faster hover crafts and more complicated tracks. The game is awesome 👌

Devs think DLSS is like kids homework. Just put whatever the resolution you like and DLSS will make miracles.

This game is amazing.

Honest question man, is it a ..."game" game or is it more of a tech demo to show off the S2's capabilities ?

This looks like Rogue flight - a game which looked amazing (bought it, finished it) but it was very light gameplay wise and never played it again...

Cheers

The game does look awesome indeed, but the IQ issues remain for now.

DLSS is bad now ?
Any upscaler is going to falter from such a incredibly low internal resolution

This not actually a new game. Is from Wii U. As much I would agree with you, this game have some really great mechanics and creativity.

Like you can jump your jet car of a high jump and see how this fairs. You can make fusion of existence cars you got.

I mean, they have some cool ideias. I give them that. And the zones are very charming in art direction, not only 'graphics'.

Fast Fusion is a new entry. Fast RMX on the Switch was a revamped WiiU game.

If they're releasing a pure 1440p patch, why not do 900p or 1080p and then use DLSS for image quality from there?
