Elden Ring Nightreign |OT| Praise the Rain

This game sometimes really annoys me...
Play with Raider, Colossal weapons? Nah.. Here are some purple katanas and a dagger.
Play with Wylder, Greatswords? Nah... Here, take 3 Axes of Godfrey in a row!
😠😠😠

Ok, yesterday I bought the game, had a couple of runs, got my ass handed to me pretty fast... Didn't understand a thing, was running from arrow to arrow, died easily and often... So everything perfect as it should be... I'm already starting to love this game❤️

Just killed him on my second try. Still have no idea what's really going on, but just blasted him with Ranni's Dark Moon. Homing spells are really the way to go with this boss being constantly on the move. Revenant felt so useless vs him, like 80% of the spells miss.

Beat the new Fulghor on second try with Executor. All level 15 and had almost ideal weapons (Rivers of Blood, Morgots Blade). Really fun and cool fight (really love the "Holy Sub-Orbital Missile Strike" lol), though much easier having sort of mastered the first Ever dark boss.

It's quite incredible to feel how much better you get at the game, especially map knowledge. Knowing what bosses to expect, knowing the spawn points of scarab and field bosses, knowing where to get key items like Stonesword keys... Not to mention getting accustomed to the bosses movesets so you can tank them without forcing your mates to run all over to get his in.

Game is so goddamn good.

These remembrances take so long to complete!
Need to kill the final boss with Wylder and Ironeye, then do Executor remembrance. 😑

I beat the enhanced Fulghor yesterday with a bold new strategy.
75% of the fight I was shooting one of my teammates because there was always one dead. The boss ignored me most of the time, out of pity I guess. I did a minimum of 8 revives!
I wasn't even looking at the boss health bar because I was always too busy reviving someone, then both guys died and the boss came towards me, so I use the marking ability to dodge through him and suddenly he died, his HP was ultra low and I didn't even realise it 😂😂😂

The most intense sweaty unskilled win of all time.

So I did a thing finally:

and I beat the harder Gaping Jaw in time as well
Nice! I beat the final boss just before DS2 dropped and all I'm left is 3 successful runs in a row, one with guardian and one with the recluse, both od which I kinda hate.

I can understand the hate for guardian, but recluse is amazing. You can dish out so much damage with her!

Play with guardian as if it was a melee build in ER, forget about the guarding counters and it becomes easier.
Why do you need to kill the final boss with the Guardian? He has no remembrance or special ending for it.

any boss, for the trophy of finishing a run with every character. I've seen videos of his dash-block canceling the heaviest boss attacks in the game, so I think it could be a decent character with some practice

Well I got the platinum. Game is awesome. I'm kinda shocked really. Even though From is an elite developer I thought the rushed gameplay style of battle royales wouldn't be that fun compared to going on a big adventure like you do in normal souls games where you can take your time and build your character. But all these classes are so fun and interesting with the cool powers they bring to a team.

Kinda torn, feeling like I should move on to other great games like the Lies of P DLC. On the other hand, the best time to play Nightreign is now, while it's hot and there's many players to team up with. I think I'll just spend a couple more days playing around with it and then move on to Lies of P. When something big gets added like new playable characters, I'll jump back in.

Been in the same situation for a little while. Only got two Remembrances left (Wylder and Recluse final part) and closing in on 100 expeditions, so I feel like I should've gotten my fill of the game. But then again, its still so much fun, especially now that I've finally gotten really good at it!

Will probably start moving on after those last Remembrances and then come back more sporadically for the Everdark bosses (and the DLC whenever it comes!). For me its kind of perfect that the game is more or less a complete self-contained package as is. The addition of hard-mode bosses is great but I wouldn't want a real live-service model for this - the fact that the game has a natural endpoint and you can just play for fun rather than FOMO or grinding rewards etc. makes it more meaningful to me.

I didi a couple more runs and I'm starting to get the basics down, still not so fast on equip decision-making, but getting there... I'm now going with iron eye because I feels it's way easier to be decent in a group being ranged while learning the mechanics. Yesterday I had two funny runs, the first with a really good party but libbra totally annihilated us, the second party they were as clueless as me, so it was fun but we didn't survive the 2nd night (cause one of them left mid day)... Anyway it's a nice game but I wish they did something similar to nioh MP (let's say mission based and not battle royale style)...
So far so good, happy to have bought the game, now I probably need something easier to alternate and not burn myself😅😅😂😂

New patch, nothing crazy

Bug Fixes

  • The Weapon Type will now be displayed in each Armament Information menu.
  • Fixed a bug where matchmaking would continually fail after two players joined and left your team at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug where the acquisition of the gesture "It's Raining!" through Multiplayer would not register properly.
Note: You can obtain the gesture by meeting the conditions, even if you have met them before.
  • Fixed a bug where playable characters might revive from a near-death state without being defeated during the battle with the third-day boss after leaving a session and returning from the title screen.
  • Fixed a bug where the background music in the Recluse Remembrance would not play properly when certain conditions were met.
  • Fixed a bug where quitting the game incorrectly immediately after fulfilling the clearing conditions of the "Shifting Earth: Crater", the "The Crater" achievement would not be awarded despite clearing the area.
Note: Even if you have already earned the achievement, meeting the "Crater" clear conditions will award you with the clearing credit again.
  • Fixed several other instances of bugs.

Wonder when we getting a bigger patch. Kinda funny that they acknowledged the performance issues on 5000 cards on release day, but nothing happened since lol. They will never fix the performance issues

I wonder if the poise of the Bell Bearing Hunter in the castle basement has been fixed.
No other enemy in the game tanks all the ultras or a charged Raider retaliate.

Not playing the game, but have been following it. How is it that they add bosses so often, which are brand new, while Capcom has trouble releasing rehashed monsters from 20 years ago, which takes em a quarter of a year to add 1-2 monsters? Wtf is going on here?

They aren't adding new entirely. bosses but harder versions of the original 8 Nightlords with an extra phase. I'm pretty sure they had the first 3-4 done at release (saw posts on reddit saying they were already in the game files) so they've just been doling them out the last 3 weeks.

I don't think you should expect a live-service release pattern, my guess it that aside from the hard-mode bosses there won't be major content released until a DLC later this year or next year. That being said, the game comes as a self-contained great package, I've had a blast for 70 hours with it so far.

OK, this is 30 Eurodollars on Amazon atm and thinking of getting it for the PS5 Pro, a couple of questions:

- I've been reading about broken matchmaking/online - has this been fixed ?
- How's the player base ? Are there enough people playing this/can you have fun playing with randoms ?

- How's the longevity ? I've been reading that people have already "finished" the available content ?Do you think that this game has longevity or that it'll be dead in a few months ?

- Does it run well on the Pro ?

What got me interested is that I actually like the whole fixed classes thing and seems like a nice game for short-ish sessions in-between other games.

Also : Normal edition is 32, Seeker's edition is 45, which one should I go for ? the Seeker's, besides the metal case has upcoming DLC included (redeemable code I presume) which I don't know what it'll be...

Thanks

I haven't had issues with matchmaking on Playstation, always find people in a few seconds for any boss.
The reported issues are related to certain steps of character quest lines. Only 1 player can have a quest active in the group. But, quite honestly, those are much easier solo, with 3 people the enemies you have to kill have 3x more HP, and it's not something you need to do at the start of the game, you can worry about it after your first 30h, when you are used to the rythm of the game.
The ones that require matchmaking for a nightlord within a remembrance (character quest line) might be more of an issue, but on Playstation I never waited for more than 3 minutes to find people for those (I think there are only 2 of those, Revenant and Ironeye).

Randoms now, mostly, know what to do and it's much easier than at launch.
There is a big learning curve and getting used to the rythm will take a while, but when you mastered it, you become addicted.
I have 200+ hours in it and I'm still playing, looking for the perfect relics.
It's not perfect, but it's an amazing game!
I wish other studios knew how to recycle assets like this.

Can't say anything about ps5 pro, I have a base ps5.

Much appreciated Arctos 👍💪

there isn't really broken matchmaking, there's a thing where your matchmaking pool is smaller when you activate a remembrance.

Thanks man.

Bought it digitally in the end 😁

Performance so far on the Pro is...OK (can feel/see when there's dips), hope to God it doesn't shit the bed during the bigger bosses later on...

Thing is, I don't know what the heck I'm doing since I've also swapped the Attack buttons to square and triangle respectively since I can't do anymore bumper attack buttons after trashing them on previous joypads due to souls-likes (especially on Xbox controllers).
Restarted the game 2 times, still couldn't beat that 1st Margrit clone during the tutorial.
Talking about the GFX, they do seem better compared to vanilla Elden Ring or is it my imagination ? Is the RTX always enabled in this or did they removed it ?

Can't wait to continue playing, any starting tips would also be appreciated, cheers !

Some peeps i follow on twitch play this shit daily since launch. There is no content to play this much and for this long, so i ain't getting it. Just from watching the game being played it looks repetitive as hell, i can only imagine when you're the one playing.

This game is aces in hand, and addictive as fuck.

Plenty of games look whack to play, but are a gem on hand.

Its a fromsoft product, so i belive you, but at the same time, it needs to have some kind of a long term progression or something, and as far as i am aware, there isn't one that is meaningful.

Ignore Magrit and just run behind the randoms the first runs. It will take a while to get used to the new pace.

Does it? I got my moneys worth. 50 hours, beat all bosses, and had a blast.

Seems like a great exchange for the $40 I paid.

That's what i am saying, 50h makes sense for what's on offer. But i am seeing them play since launch, and that's well over 200h at this point, and i simply don't see any content in the game to spend this much time in it.

Mastering multiple classes, doing all their remembrance quests, getting all achievements/trophies, the new bosses they added, and just enjoying the gameplay loop. Or hardcore souls fans who are trying to master every aspect of the game, and do crazy solo run stuff.

I am a hardcore souls fan, and even i cannot see this this kind of longevity in this game. It's like spending 200h+ in chalice dungeons in BB, and tell yourself that it's entertaining.

People enjoy random shit. Also, streamers and how they engage with a game is not how regular people do. They play for views and ability to transform things to YT or TikTok content.

I would never basis enjoyment or quality off their opinion or how long they play it lol. They are chasing metrics.

Game is really addictive. Ive got the platinum and still want to play. Hope they drop alot of stuff with the dlc later this year. A second map based on shadow of the erdtree would be amazing.

Chalice dungeons were 200+ hours of fun!
I kept making new dungeons because there was always something new, or different, or exciting, or even hilarious to see.
I had a cursed dungeon that I never made past the 1st room, it had 2 ash witches and 2 of the big guys with cannons right outside the door in a small room. Or one that had a corridor with 8 doors, one after the other and a dead end after the last one.

In 220h+ in Nightreign I never encountered a Walking Mausoleum (standing in this game, they don't walk here), I've only seen a Ruined Sorcerer's Rise once and we couldn't open it because there are new seals for those (now I know all of them) and I've only encountered the giant ants event once.
Each run is different and unique and that makes it exciting!

I would understand this if there were literally hundreds and hundreds of variations all over you go. Instead, even if you've seen those giant ants only once, you did see, say, a crucible knight a million times. Having ultra rare spawns is cool, but the not so rare ones should be extremely diverse, or it gets old doing runs on the same map against mostly the same enemies and bosses. This is my core problem that i've noticed with the game.

Hmmm fromsoftware have either made the game easier or random have levelled up!

I haven't played multiplayer for quite a few weeks as I was getting a little frustrated with people downing in the final fight and my character not having the best revival ultimate I just found I was always last man standing so it would end in defeat.

Fast forward the last 24 hours.

Tried again, beat night aspect, Equilibrious beast, purple sentient beast, purple dark drift knight with zero downs at level 15 on each and legendary weapons sometimes duplicates.

All the teams I was in absolutely destroyed everything.

So I either got lucky with random or thru nay have slightly altered the difficulty.

I think randoms got better - I was playing quite consistently up to about two weeks ago and there was considerable improvement in my success rate. Of course I was also getting better myself (and sometimes NOT getting good randoms), but overall I've been hitting max level / getting strong equipment consistently with the entire group.

I think have solidified knowledge across the team about how and when to use the castle, which locations to prioritize, what kind of stats to aim for, really makes an immense difference.

After expedition 33 this is the second best gane of 2025 ..so good, so fun, but it needs xplay and more content fasttt

Needs a new map, new bosses and a couple of new classes ASAP. Game is so good but the staleness has set in after 120 hours on Limveld, I need more FROM!

Literally every region can be repurposed into it's own map, Caelid, Liurnia, Atlas Plateau, mix and match with Siofra area etc, all the content is already there, let's see if they do anything with it.

I'm worried the new duo mode will reduce the chances of getting a team of 3 as easily as now.

On the flip side, the duo mode has convinced me and my buddy to finally purchase this so it could have a positive impact on the overall player pool. /super anecdotal
