This whole woke movement in the video game industry may be a big factor on why game prices are inflated. Their Cry Corners and emotional safe spaces means longer development time.

I personally do not care for the most part how woke you want to be. Once it starts infecting my favorite past time is when I start to care. Is it not a coincidence that Game Quality became much worse when matched with DEI/ME too?

Well thats certainly a take right here.

Game quality, and the quality of most goods and services in general, are falling because of:

1. Consistent outsourcing
2. Lack of training
3. Priorities in loot boxes/surprise mechanics/shareholders over making a fun, engaging product that runs well.

Game prices, when adjusted for inflation, are cheaper than they have been in the past. The reason why games feel more expensive is because at a macroeconomic scale, everything has far outpaced wage growth, pressuring disposable income.

In my grandpa's day he was a lone factory worker and supported his entire family and had a house and a car. There has been a great divide between the rich/poor. 1% of the worlds population control 99% of the money. But game prices have not always been cheaper. Back in the 90's I remember buying certain RPG carts for around $100. Hell when I bought my n64 Mario 64 was $60 and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire was $80 back in 1997. Counting for inflation that is nutty prices.

They keep raising that standard and add in tiny "got cha" loot boxes to trick the stupid into spending even more money on useless garbage. Valkyrie likely hires from within the PlayStation Studios family and as a support studio they likely are always looking for artists to help on whatever project Sony has in the works.

AAA studios are too bloated. Share holder numbers are more important than Quality. Too many large corporations own the vast majority of the AAA games studios. The current model is broken. In Canada, Phantasy Star 2 and Sword of Vermilion were $120. I know because I got both after begging my older siblings to chip in and help me get them. Normally Genesis/SNES games were around $80, but "it was a steal" if some were dumbed down to $60 or 70. N64 games were about $100. I dont remember if any broke past $100. But wouldnt be surprised if some did.

Game prices here basically correlate to the US price +/- currency exchange. Then its generally rounded up or down to the nearest $5.

The only time game prices were actually good is the rare time every decade or two exchange rates get parity 1:1. Then suddenly, holy shit! A game disc is only $60 like the states? Wow.
