For the next year? MAYBE. For this year? Aboslutely zero.Chances of these going on sale during the holiday season?

If you never played either of them, $70 is a steal for two of the best games ever made remastered in one package. Don't let the "fuck you Nintendo for that price" diminish what these games actually are. This thread reminds me, maybe I should check out Super Mario Galaxy, as I have never played it before...
Seems optimistic with the Mario Galaxy movie releasing next year.It depends how well it sells. I can see 25-33% sale in a year. And that's means used will also be cheaper. So $40-45ish for the cart.
It's 4k/60 on Switch 2. And the improvements shown here don't even relate to resolution.
I'll take that as a no then.
The comparison is between the 3D All Stars version (in 1080p) released in 2020 and the new version in 4k.
So your comment doesn't make sense at all.

On Switch 2 it's running at 4k/60fps as said by it's official website. You came in, said it's 1080p and then said nothing else.
And when corrected, I'm not even sure what you're trying to say here.
But on topic, I wonder if they just used nVidia's upscaling tech on this or if these are new assets. Still not buying it, $70 for this is ridiculous and if we're lucky very few people will buy it and the price comes down to something reasonable.
I wouldn't be getting it for the Switch 1 or 2 though, but for the Wii, purchased one late-last year, (for the Gamecube compatibility) but outside of Mario Kart Wii, I haven't really explored the Wii library...If you never played either of them, $70 is a steal for two of the best games ever made remastered in one package. Oh english is not my main language, thank for the correction.Haha just teasing. It's "3rd", not "3th".
Buying the Wii versions on a flea market for 2 bucks each and playing them in Dolphin seems like the better deal to me.
Definitely not this holiday, but Nintendo puts first-party games on sale occasionally. Not their debut holiday season, but sometime next year is possible (if these are permanent, not limited time).Chances of these going on sale during the holiday season?
The only saving grace of this approach is you are playing the games in the form they were designed to be played... nunchuck in one hand, wiimote in the other. Galaxy 1 is... awkward to play with a standard controller.4:3, no proper standard controller support, limited to 30fps, poor UI scaling, etc.. etc.. no thanks
Don't let the "fuck you Nintendo for that price" diminish what these games actually are.
4:3, no proper standard controller support, limited to 30fps, poor UI scaling, etc.. etc.. no thanks
Then go emulate them? I find the value appropriate considering how well the games still hold up today and they are packed full of content.what these games are is, they are easily emulated on most modern devices.
there are also HD texture packs for them.
not a single Wii game is 4:3. both games are 60fps on Wii. mapping the game's controls to normal controllers is pretty simple, UI is easily fixed with HD texture packs.
What?4:3, no proper standard controller support, limited to 30fps, poor UI scaling, etc.. etc.. no thanks
This. Minor improvements are nice but for $70 it's the least they can do, quite honestly.Mario Galaxy was 720p in Handheld Mode in 3D All Stars, so there's a resolution bump to 1080p in Portable Mode for Switch 1 as I was saying and I'm laughing because it's no big deal and we have to stop getting full defense force when developers are doing the strict minimum and selling at high price.
Anyone can see that this is easy money with little effort.
It's nice though to be able to get those games in an easier way but that's a lazy job clearly.

Correct, playing on original hardware you'd be forced to play in native res on a giant screen which won't be pretty. 480p doesn't look pretty on a 65 inch, but to each their own. But notably the Galaxy games did run in 60 fps on Wii. And all first-party games ran 16:9 on Wii, it was mandated by Nintendo that they had to have a 16:9 and 4:3 option. What?
This is all incorrect.
Those game always were widescreen and run at 60fps. There are ui texture packs for both games.
I mean, both Galaxy 1 & 2 are arguably the best 3D Mario games, but 70€ is fucking crazy.
This cannot possibly be true. The Switch 1 has a 720p screen.Mario Galaxy was 720p in Handheld Mode in 3D All Stars, so there's a resolution bump to 1080p in Portable Mode for Switch 1 as I was saying and I'm laughing because it's no big deal and we have to stop getting full defense force when developers are doing the strict minimum and selling at high price.

You are of course technically correct, but I read his comment in context to to clearly mean the upgraded version running on Switch 2, since these are native Switch 1 games and only being updated for Switch 2 via back compat. They are not receiving Switch 2 Editions. This cannot possibly be true. The Switch 1 has a 720p screen.
Of course it was one of those « well actually if you think about I'm not that wrong » postsMario Galaxy was 720p in Handheld Mode in 3D All Stars, so there's a resolution bump to 1080p in Portable Mode for Switch 1 as I was saying and I'm laughing because it's no big deal and we have to stop getting full defense force when developers are doing the strict minimum and selling at high price.

Emulating the Wii versions of these games will look inferior no matter what as they are natively 4:3 stretched the fuck out.what these games are is, they are easily emulated on most modern devices.
there are also HD texture packs for them.
not a single Wii game is limited to 4:3, many Wii games in fact don't even support 4:3. both games are 60fps on Wii. mapping the game's controls to normal controllers is pretty simple, UI is easily fixed with HD texture packs.
That's why you play on Dolphin.Correct, playing on original hardware you'd be forced to play in native res on a giant screen which won't be pretty. 480p doesn't look pretty on a 65 inch, but to each their own.
Most will never do this, hence why the discussion around playing on native hardware vs spending $40-$70 with Nintendo to replay. That's why you play on Dolphin.
Go nuts.

This isn't true. Nearly all Wii games are native 16:9, including UI. I would know I played Wii games on an HDTV with a 16:9 aspect ratio back in the day. GameCube didn't run in 16:9 and rarely, if ever were games available outside of 4:3 (few exceptions include Star Fox Adventures). Nintendo actually mandated to developers that Wii software needed to allow for 16:9.Emulating the Wii versions of these games will look inferior no matter what as they are natively 4:3 stretched the fuck out.
Nearly ALL Wii games are actually ANAMORPHIC widescreen, not NATIVE 16:9...so they are actually 4:3 aspect ratio stretched into a widescreen image. This is why nearly all Wii games look noticeably sharper in 4:3. This is also why HUD/UI/text looks like dogshit in widescreen but not in 4:3, because it is more readily apparent.
Nintendo recompiled Galaxy 1's code to run in NATIVE 16:9 for Switch and presumably the same can be said about Galaxy 2 when it releases as well.
Both games are getting Switch 2 UPDATES to bump these resolutions to 1080p/4K, it's not BC brute forcing. You are of course technically correct, but I read his comment in context to to clearly mean the upgraded version running on Switch 2, since these are native Switch 1 games and only being updated for Switch 2 via back compat. Obviously there is no such thing as any game on Switch 1 running above 720p in handheld mode, as that would be impossible.
They are not native Switch 2 games, is my point. They are Switch 1 games being updated to run better if played on Switch 2. There is a difference, albeit convoluted. Both games are getting Switch 2 UPDATES to bump these resolutions to 1080p/4K, it's not BC brute forcing.

Is a Nintendo game, they doesn't have restrictions. This cannot possibly be true. The Switch 1 has a 720p screen.
Do you not know what a stretched image looks like vs. native 16:9? It looks like shit.literally none of this matters when you emulate it with an HD texture pack and 2x SSAA and 16x AFwhich any modern system should be easily able to do.
I like to go beyond nuts:

Conversation was about emulation I think. Dolphin will easily run these games at 4K/60 on fairly modest hardware and there are even HD texture packs on top.Correct, playing on original hardware you'd be forced to play in native res on a giant screen which won't be pretty. 480p doesn't look pretty on a 65 inch, but to each their own. do you know what 2x SSAA means? it means the game renders at 2x your screen resolution on each axis. meaning even if it's a stretched image, after being downsampled to your screen resolution, that difference will not matter.
hell, you'll probably be able to run it at 4x SSAA on most PCs nowadays depending on your screen resolution. and at 4x SSAA, if you claim you can tell the different between true 16:9 and anamorphic 16:9, you're just lying.
Galaxy 1 and 2 both ran in native 16:9 on Wii, UI and all.Do you not know what a stretched image looks like vs. native 16:9? It looks like shit.
