Silent Hill 𝒇🌸|OT|🌸 In My Restless Dream, I See The Beauty in Terror

It appears there are quite a lot of copies out in the wild already. Time to filter everything about this game with the exception of this thread.

Honestly, this wouldn't bother me. I'll take anything over yet another retread of SH2's twist.

I watched Max's playthrough until the first boss and even though I liked what I saw, it's Konami and I'm going to wait on a sale (price increase in BR also a factor). I will probably get spoiled to shit though :(
Who knows, this might be one game that makes me comfortable buying Konami games again :P

I'd say if you can only pick one for now, go for Cronos first and then buy F during a winter sale before the end of the year.

Cronos has multiple endings (Just like F and other SH games) as well as Harder difficulty only available in NG+. Plus, there's a bunch of cool weapons you can try in NG+ (provided you found and unlocked them all) cuz there's no way you can use and upgrade them all in the NG to the max (not to mention the suit and combat gadgets), so there's also this to mix things up and look forward too, not just endings.
Thanks.

Any dissenting opinions, GAF?

A friend of mine used to press games. He'd have stuff some weeks before release a lot of the time. There's always regions of the world where this happens.

I remember having GTA4 a couple of weeks before release and reading GAF at the same time. People here waiting to see more of it, whilst I was probably already finished with the game by that point.

Got my code from GMG. Probably not gonna be there for the midnight launch but ooh boy I'm looking forward to seeing how the story plays out.

Given the writer, I'd expect some deep dives into "woke" topics. Also given the writer, I'd expect it to be very well written.

Can I say something about this?

I think I know what they are talking about, since the game is already in the wild

Obviously its a big gameplay/story spoiler, so be warned

She loses her arm, but she gets a "warewolf" arm to fight monsters

I wasn't expecting something like this in a SH game and I'm very bummed

Hey now, you better disable steam controller input before playing. That notification is such a nice feature to have when a game properly supports multiple controllers and their input glyphs.

Yeah I always do that because I play with Dualsense. But thanks for the input papi

How can it be an implant instead of a full body transformation? That breaks every werewolf lore ever.

still trying to decide if I should pick up this or Cronos

I do prefer sci-fi horror to the more abstract psychological stuff but this just looks so well made

Man, Cronos was amazing, one of the best survival horror games I've played in the last 10+ years.
In fact, I'm actually sad that Silent hill f releases so soon since it'll take sales from it (that, and the fucking hollow knight 2 stealth drop).
Man, the ONE time Bloober has made a really good game and it's gonna end up underperforming, what a shame...

...not to take anything form Silent hill f obviously since, apparently, it's also a very good game.

Konami was right to name this game "Silent hill" since it'll probably reflect well on the sales purely by name association but again, it's a real shame when it comes to Cronos.

There's a video showing it. Apparently they just ... attach it to her. Power of black magic!

Won't be posting more spoilers here cause it isnt a spoiler thread, but yeah, expect the unexpected.

I'm 5 hours deep so far and meh... this is a very competent horror game but it is not a Silent Hill game in any sense of the words...

Without getting too spoilery I can already guess what the twist is going to be, its fucking obvious they may as well spoon feed you it.. To me SH is all about psychological horror, atmospheric dread and environmental storytelling. This game has none of it so far, is more in the realms of action games like Sekiro with grotesque japanese themed monsters. It's definitely going to be a marmite entry in the series no question.

We need to get a spoiler thread going so I can share more. Cronos so far is leagues ahead in terms of horror game of the year

The 3D modelers made her look older. It's like a 30 something year old woman put on a sailor uniform one day and decided to attend Silent Hill High
You do realize the actress 'is' a woman in her late 20ies right?
I mean the whole 'mid 20ies-to-30ies' actors playing high-school kids has been a trope for as long as I can remember - are we seriously now complaining because games using real-person likeness are doing it?

Send the message to the studios to stop using real people likeness - if they start (de)aging them artificially in CG I bet we'll have another 10 years of people whining about how that is ruining representation of real actors or some nonsense.

Hmm this is what i was afraid of after watching the first 2 hours of the game. Is it still a good horror game?

Based on what I saw of the gameplay and combat, I think it's best going into this game not expecting standard SH experience, meaning SH1-4, so that's what I'll do and will be judging it as a standalone experiment in a completely different setting which we haven't seen in the series before.

I bet the game won't be for every SH fan out there.

Unfortunately this was painfully obvious from the previews.

Is it at least good on its own terms? That's mainly what I'm looking for I guess. And yea, nobody's even touching shit like Steelworks in Cronos anytimr soon imo.

I preloaded on my PS5 Pro for early access after refunding and purchasing the deluxe. So far lttp lol I got high hopes

So does this mean - without too many spoilers of course - that it doesn't have the inventory and resource management?

Also, how's the exploration, are there any optional locations?
