This has to be the hit-stop they mean, no?

Man, if it's indeed the hit stop they can't get any more clueless than that, like, fuck me...

I was not talking about technical aspect.I believe it, SH2 RE while good, had a very fuzzy image quality, weird animations (that walking, maaan), some buggy camera changes, mediocre, dubious character models, framerate problems etc etc, a good but flawed product IMO (Bloober's own Cronos is better IMO), this (silent hill f) looks way more polished to be honest.
Oh lmao I just read that the reviewer in question thinks this is in relation to performance issues.I love me some hit-stop but that is excessive, especially for a game of this type. That's definitely getting patched.
100%. I've been itching to buy this, but watching that IGN review, there's just not much I can see on screen that truly looks all that compelling.Getting soyjack vibes from these reviews.
As someone who loves survival horror, SH2 was very mediocre. I swear it got good reviews just based off of nostalgia for the original. Combat was so mediocre. I am more optimistic in this game because the nostalgia isn't there with reviews. Regardless, 70$ for a 15hr game with little replayability is a wait for saleI sincerely doubt it's anywhere near sh2 remake or the best game in the series.
These return to form reviews always sound super sus.
It's as close as we're going to get without the original team. It does it's own thing so don't expect a traditional SH experience out of it though. Which is honestly good since nobody has really been able to emulate it competently yet.Guys i havent really been following this game. Is this an actual proper Silent Hill game, or is this one od those cases where Konami just slapped the SL name onto a horror game and called it a day?.
They use TSR instead of FSR on consoles. It's not complicated. The latest versions of TSR are pretty good, even better than PSSR in some games.Game looks quite clean for an UE5 release.
There is not that usual ugly sharpening & smeary look.
Are devs starting to finally understand how that trashy engine works ?
The Silent Hill 2 remake had crappy combat. I'm not surprised this is worse in that regard.
I thought it was worse than Alone in the Dark (2024) mechanically when I played it a few days ago. SH2R has some great looking environments with great progression segments like the streets and resort that I cannot think of any other modern game offering. SH2R's revamped Eddie boss battle is one of the best in the series. The game is not well rounded though. Labyrinth is easily one of the worst experiences to be had in the genre. Not interesting, not scary, and not challenging just tedious. Similarly the other boss battles are crap.As someone who loves survival horror, SH2 was very mediocre. I swear it got good reviews just based off of nostalgia for the original. Combat was so mediocre.
TSR from low resolutions is quite bad. Worse than FSR2 in some ways with an excessive amount of ghosting. It's like TAA's final bossThey use TSR instead of FSR on consoles. It's not complicated. The latest versions of TSR are pretty good, even better than PSSR in some games.
Ok, time to scratch this one…pcgameshardware is reporting that the PC version doesn't compile shaders on boot up and thus you will need to build it up naturally through your play session. If this is correct, PC owners are in for an unavoidable stutter fest.
Boy oh boy, I hope they're wrong. Like, I can put up with the occasional traversal stutter here and there, but having the entire experience marred with shader stutters is too much.
Say you decide to rollback your drivers because of instability or you decide to update to the latest one during your play through of Silent Hill F... well you're gonna have to recompile all the shaders anew and that means you're inviting in more stutters.
What a complete mess if this turns out to be true.
Surprised that the OT isn't done by Slimmy. This game is the only proof he has left to defend the engine.
Opencritic retarded as usual

I always thought poor controls were deliberate and part of the horror aspect. If the controls are good and immediate then you're the terminator and there is no horror to be had other than the occasional jump scare.I'll repeat: every SH game had poor controls
People should expect better, sure. But if you are already a fan, then you've enjoyed the OGs despite the bad gameplay. Just do the same here.
I personaly loved the gameplay in SH 2 Remake. I never felt 100% safe while dodging, but it felt so good when it landed.
Horror fans this year

Should I get this or Cronos first ? (will end up playing both in the next 6 months anyway)
Old school fans also have Flesh Made Fear the week after. Echoes of the Living doesn't have a solid date atm but it's also coming soon. And let's not forget we're getting Tormented Souls II next month. Hopefully it won't go under the radar.
Man, if it's indeed the hit stop they can't get any more clueless than that, like, fuck me...
Why the fuck are people giving 10/10's to a Silent Hill and why the fuck are other people taking those seriously?
Game scores aren't even pretending to be anything other than utter nonsense these days.
I just started my first playthrough of the first game yesterday, picked it up off Steam for a dollar last year and just getting to it.And let's not forget we're getting Tormented Souls II next month. Hopefully it won't go under the radar.
Except SH2 remake was wildly overrated and the reviews for it are equally sus…Not to mention, pretty easy for Bloober given SH2 was ALREADY a masterpiece, much MUCH harder for something like F which is from the ground up and original..I sincerely doubt it's anywhere near sh2 remake or the best game in the series.
These return to form reviews always sound super sus.
Naw. Hit stop is a bandaid for bad hit response.More games should do this, it's a satisfying mechanic giving weight
yeah, it looks like shit tbh. That has to be the most intense hit-stop I've seen, it lasts so long.
Seen a few saying performance issues on PS5/Pro?
Not always, but in this case yeah.Naw. Hit stop is a bandaid for bad hit response.
Performance seems fine, based on one source the resolution can drop to 360p on base PS5 in the Performance mode to keep a locked 60.
I think this one might be better in Quality mode.
