Will you be buying ROG Xbox Ally?

Will you be buying

How do you not know what ROG stands for? It's been around for a long time and they make some of the very best gaming routers you can buy... a lot of their hardware is top tier. Tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me you don't know what you're talking about.

Are these ROG Ally/X devices too expensive? Yes.

Does that make them a bad/non purchase? Not if you want one and have the cash to burn... like anything else in life.

Silly thread.

Except Xbox fanboys are basically getting the equivalent of a PS Portal at 3 times the price

This thing doesn't actually RUN Xbox games

LOL

I wonder if people said this about the PS Vita... because that would have been retarded, just like your comparison is pretty damn retarded.

the PS Vita could only play PS3 and PS4 games through remote play, it had its own games that weren't cross compatible... so basically PS gamers got the equivalent of a PS Portal by your definition.

I was going to, originally, but I recently picked up a Legion Go S Z1E with SteamOS on sale. I honestly couldn't be happier with this thing and it'll hold me over for a while.

I might look at Windows handhelds again in 1-2 years to see how the simpler interface is holding up. I imagine it's going to run into a few bumps out of the gate.

I have a Steam Deck. If I used it enough that I wanted something newer and more powerful, I would go for the Legion Go 2. Having a big, beautiful OLED screen on a handheld is huge. It would be worth the high cost of the device for me personally.

$1000? Naw, I'm good.

The original Legion Go S can be had for around $500 and is much much much better bang for buck. Install Bazzite on it and you're good to go.

You will get 80-90% of the performance of the Xbox Ally X.

You're not getting 80 -90% of the Z2 Extreme with the Legion Go S's Z2Go chip.

Half the number of CPU cores, older CPU generation, RDNA 2 GPU…

Nah.

It'll run every Xbox first party game made since 2017. You know, the games an 'Xbox fanboy' would have bought the console for.

Coupled with the large Steam library, GamePass and Xbox games going forward…

Eh. At least you tried.

What in retardation? Sony was upfront on what their portables are. Microsoft isn't, hence why you have diehard xbox fans even on this forum confused on what this plays. Stop the bootlicking sir.

i'm not paying 1k+ for an LCD handheld with a 7 inch screen. The Lenovos are way more interesting IMO or even the MSI / intel one.

Maybe next year open box at Best Buy for cheap.

Not the campaign, so technically it is not Halo 5.

not having the campaign could be seen as a bonus feature tbh.

too bad the multiplayer is still there tho... so best case would be no version of Halo 5... or Halo 4... but sadly Halo 4 is on PC, so PC players everywhere have to suffer, knowing their platform was desecrated by the presence of Halo 4... and partly Halo 5...

Think about it

If the vast majority of forum enthusiasts don't want it, who's going to actually buy this in numbers?

Preorders have already sold out

I personally wont be buying one for a while if ever, but people are definitely buying it whether you want them to or not.

Will it sell gangbusters? Probably not. But people are buying it.

Means nothing without figures.

For all we know the available stock to pre-order could be 50,000 units

No one is confused but you, probably due to a lack of intelligence. The rest of us know how to read and comprehend words.

I was super excited until I noticed no touchpads. There are too many mouse centric PC games that I own to invest in a platform without touchpads.

it is probably a low number.
people don't really understand the PC market it seems.

when a laptop model sells 1 million units over its production run for example, it's essentially a best seller.
the same is true for PC handhelds.

Nope because i dont like handhelds, and if i was going to pay that much i'd just get a console.

Besides i still dont know what this even is. I mean does it play PC games, Steam and other launchers?. Does it play Xbox games only?, both?.

I just dont get what it is.

I'm sorry, what were you saying again? You don't even own a handheld but want to defend this because it has an xbox sticker on it.

There's nothing to defend…what are you even talking about. It's a product manufactured by Asus that has an x86 PC architecture and a custom Windows gaming-focused OS with Xbox branding because it will play games bought from the Xbox store. It is priced accordingly with other devices that are similarly situated. I was able to learn this in 15 seconds and make the assessment that I don't need it, though it does have a place in the market.

Nah will wait for next gen hardware.

Already have a laptop with similar performance and its not great for playing high end games without a lot of compromises. Plus I have a Steam Deck which works well for indies and some modern titles and can also stream from my desktop PC.

Got me f'ed up if you think I'm spending that sort of money on that device. Too expensive for what it is, which ain't much.

The fall from grace that Xbox has had is really something. Just canceled GamePass, which was my last connection. Had been a customer since the very beginning. #notlikethis.gif

I preordered a base edition, but I'm leaning towards cancelling the order. It just feels like it's obslete before it even releases. Especially at that price. I just find myself mostly playing games handheld, so I like the idea of these handheld PCs. Handheld play has really ramped up since my daughter was born and since the Switch 2 released (speaking of obsolete...).
