Microsoft revamps Xbox Game Pass plans and hikes Ultimate to $29.99 a month, Ultimate gets Ubisoft+ Classics and more

They did this a lot faster than I expected. I suppose the writing was on the wall with the console and game price increases, though.

My subscription is up in November, no way I'm keeping it at that price. Maybe if it included family where my kids could use it, but for one account there's no freaking way.

Almost nobody uses GamePass on PC. Game keys are relatively cheap and the service doesn't allow mods which is half the reason somebody would want to play on PC in the first place.

P.S. Since I only used GamePass on Series S to occasionally to demo sets of games I was on the fence about, I do not see myself ever using the service again.
They always report that PC gamepass is where they see growth. Console gamepass stagnated a long time ago so that's why it gets the most frequent price increases. PC gamepass is still less than 20 a month and gets day one games.

Essential, no day one, premium, no day one, ultimate, day one, pc day one.

Essential= No day one. First party games launch time after (from 1 to up to 12 months later)

Premium= No day one. First party games launch time after (Shorter time than for essential)

Ultimate= Day one (at least 79 Games day one per year)

PC Gamepass= Day one.

This was a big shock and really pissed me off, but honestly after reading into it and seeing that Ultimate is getting Ubisoft+ and Fortnite Crew it isn't that crazy. I subbed and unsubbed from Fortnite Crew last month, which combined with Game Pass Ultimate was slightly more expensive then this price hike is.

I hate price increases in general but this isn't the worst thing in the world. Ultimate is out of the price range of lots of folks now but something had to give. We all know for sure now that CoD on GP was truly unsustainable.

Basically on GP Ultimate , they're including more things (Ubisoft+, Xcloud 1440p, a larger number of day-one games beyond first-party titles, and benefits for F2P games) at the cost of raising the price by 50%.

It depends on each person whether it's convenient or not.

Personally, I think there's a need for a middle ground where a certain number of day-one games are released and EAplay-Ubi+ isn't included.

Kinda like another service named PS+????

Bringing in those extras is a good way to try to make it more palatable but I think the number of people who use both of those services is very low (which is why they did it). Fortnite Crew is apparently $12 a month and if you play enough Fortnite to care about this (I literally never heard of it until now), would you really be interested in having access to all these games on GamePass? Time is finite.

And of course this is as always laying the groundwork for further price increases or a stealth increase by removing these services from it (which they will do if it is popular).

It wasn't.

I got 3 years worth for around £80. And got waaay more value out of it than £80. Of course that's not the case now.
I was speaking for myself.

I've always purchased games I wanted to play since I first got a job in life, and I always will. I don't get FOMO and have a backlog taller than the Eiffel Tower. So when I finally get to a game I want to play, they are discounted and on sale way more often than not.

Lmfao, Xbox is done. I only kept gamepass to play gears 3 horde online. I'll just stick to gears 5 on steam. PC+PS from here on.

Just saw that PC Game Pass will go to $16.49, which is still reasonable considering we get Day-1 releases. I thought we'd get the same increase as consoles and was trying to see the justification for that. I guess I'll keep my subscription for now, as it all depends on their catalog.
Ok cool. Does it keep ea and Ubisoft stuff too or just the day one. Cause I have move on to pc. I was already thinking of getting rid of ultimate and move on to just pc game pass. But after this, I was like, idk if it worth it now I was gonna end game pass completely

100%. The Xbox back then isn't the same as now. The cool, alien looking box with the green LEDs, cool dashboards, and comfortable controllers is long dead. Replaced by the factory of sadness we have now.

A lot of that didn't come true today. But can't rule it out happening in the future.
