For a project this big SE should spend the resources to get a downgraded Switch 2 version. Those two games got downgraded versions well after the original version was released.
I don't think Square can justify the expense of doing a downgraded version for Switch 2. But perhaps they won't need to, as long as it maintains the same production values as Rebirth.
If they are going to spend money downgrading Rebirth, then they should do the same for part 3.
In RE9's case they only decided to bring the game to Switch 2 after seeing how easy the porting process was. The core of the game had already been decided before that point.DIdn't played those games on sw1 so i don't know how much they had to cut to make it run on sw1 but for re9, sw2 is probably the baseline yeah, publishers knew about sw2 specs way before us average joes, they had time to prepare.
Again, not every game get hit on the same way, if a game doesn't have stuff that massively use the cpu, the conseguences are not that bad, i don't expect re9 to have major destruction, advanced ai, many enemies on screen at the same time nor heavy cpu stuff.
The game is probably just gonna look uglier and with worse perf on sw2.
As you say, different games are affected differently. But the existence of a Switch 2 version doesn't automatically gimp a game.
