Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

its hard to say tbh. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I was just blown away by Shadows consistently. it does so many things right and it impresses so often for so many different reasons that I kind of stopped thinking about other games. Wukong shines with its nanite implementation but later levels dont really have that classic lumen look of the first two levels. Avatar has incredible lighting and density in the first level, fantastic draw distance in the second area, but the third area just looks mid at best. Shadows has an awful looking autumn season, but the difference is that the wind effects, rain and other time of day changes can transform the ugliest season in the game masking its shortcomings really well. its virtualized geometry implementation shines through at all times regardless of the weather or season so its worst levels arent really impacted unlike wukong which looks mid in the caves in chapter 4 and the volcanic levels in chapter 5.

far more consistent is why id rank it higher. but thats today. i might change my mind in a couple of years when the game isnt as fresh in my mind.
Character models are clearly the low point of shadows and they are not a rare sight in the game, so it is consistently good with locations, consinstently mid or just ok with characters.

Not sure if i ever gonna consider shadows the most consistent when a large part of it are not up to par with even an old crossgen like fw, we are not talking about something you see every 5 hours, characters are as present as any other graphical aspect.

Until ubisoft solve their character rendering problem they are never gonna be at the top for me.
 
This alongside GTA VI, OD, 007, Fable, maybe gears 6 and others, next year will be the best for us

Those open field is where the game is at its best.

But i see some photomode fuckery in this pic, distant vegetation is a bit fuzzy on my end, rt pro mode on a c1, or maybe i'm channelling my inner mass effect andromeda and my face is just tired after an hard working day...

My God! This looks absolutely phenomenal. WTF?! That last screenshot looks like one of those "out of reach" (Unreal Engine 4 demo graphics that we used to see in 2019/2020.)

Yes, Yotei literally has the worst marketing of all time. They should be fired. It looks great, plays great, story is generic but good. Sucker Punch has upped their game, just not an Uncharted - Uncharted 2 level jump. More of just an extra polished refine.

I cannot believe how badly they undersold the game's visual sweetness, I swear I would've done much better job at showcasing the game, better sizzle reels & vista showcases, the game looks jaw-droppingly good, a big leap over Ghost of Tsushima, I think it features the best particle systems, vegetation, wind simulation & draw distances I have ever seen in any video game to date.

I find it hilarious how real life backgrounds look like 2d cardboard cutouts instead of 3d. really low resolution textures too. also that awful haze to hide low LOD mountains. It's like God is a lazy developer and using those cheap techniques to mask the fact that he's not using lumen and nanite.

Absolutely no! Screenshots captured directly from sorry ass yt video with heavy asf motion blur and meaningless dof effects all over the place like some wannabe 540p 4chan leaks is the way, this is the absolutely cinema quality playstation verified masterpiece you should be proud of. Anything else is generic unnecessary unoptimized DEI disapporved humanity disgrace.

They used some odd effects and an odd focal length on that video, that's why it doesn't look right and looks 2D. Here's better footage:



That twitter video reminded me of a photogrammetry technique not that many years ago where a developer tried to use it differently for photorealistic graphics (this was pre-AI), and whenever he moved the camera the world would "bend" around the focal point like an old Doom game where the sprites always faced the player. If I can find the video I'll post it.
 
The npcs in Yotei look terrible. They have this plastic look, because the lighting is so basic. It doesn't help either they dont move their eyes when looking around. Environments look good but npcs look from the ps3 generation
 
Been looking at the screenshots of Yotei as well as HQ gameplay footage, still looks like it's slightly better version of Tsushima, what is worse is the visual inconsistency of the game, it just about scrapes a next-gen looking game in under very tight conditions, open scenic areas and such - but during combat, especially during night it looks like a DLC of the first game.

Yeah their digital acting is stuck on ps4 level, and not even the best ps4 level.

And there is huge difference between atsu and the yotei 6 and every other character, the part with the family in the family house is when you see all the limits of the game at once.

Yes! I don't know why my post got 3 LOL reactions, am I wrong for being impressed even though I always seek the best graphical fidelity there exists in games & I always demand for a stronger push towards better graphics quality?

Folks, Ghost of Yotei has some real great visual splendor that I don't think other games do it in the same way, not saying holistically it's as good as AC Shadows, but it absolutely beats it in some regards, Ghost of Yotei has weaknesses, every game does, but when everything comes together, it paints a vast & delicious graphical landscape that I don't think it lends itself into this type of ridicule & disparagement that I'm seeing in this thread. You are free with how you feel, and I can be free in feeling puzzled with your reactions & tonal behaviors.

Well OK I guess I didn't detail what I meant exactly & I apologize, meant to say it reminds me of one of those older UE4 demos that we used to see 2019/2020 before UE5 lol, not exactly UE5, nothing comes close to UE5's geometry & lighting even most games today.

I should have been more detailed about it.

Hmm interesting video, why does the PS4 version posses the same characteristics that remind me of Black Ops 3 360/PS3 versions? It has that same empty unpolished look. 😭
