Jez Corden disputes Kepler’s Xbox handheld 10M units leak: “This isn’t even slightly true btw”

I just stopped responding. So much mental gymnastics over such obvious logic.

Van Gogh was akin to nVidia Tegra X1 in practice.

The cope is still strong. Is why.

People are always weird with Kepler for no reason. I once defended him on ERA when someone tried to dismiss his comment (specifically on the dispute with Welfare over the Xbox sales) because he was posting on a "trash site" like NeoGAF, lol. The funnier part was that Welfare was literally posting here as well.

Or this:

Sarah Bond became the head of Xbox just 4 months later.

His sources are Xbox marketing, so when he says he confirms something, he's only confirming what Xbox marketing are approved to say at the time, ie the current status and not what's coming.

I think you are right. Which means he is essentially an extension of Xbox PR.

He should start his own consulting agency.

Whats the Titans ref about?

this....

People are free to discuss as they wish but when a titan of an industry insider like Jez Corden informs us that MS have no plans to cancel any upcoming Xbox hardware it is incumbent on all of us to listen.

Obviously some people will have their own motivations to cast aspersions on Jez's credibility. But for now anyone who is eagerly anticipating exciting next generation Xbox hardware can rest easily.

Because making a custom 3nm SoC is a lot time/effort/money and simply not worth for something with 7 digits lifetime sales. AMD declined to make a custom SoC for the Steam Deck 2 for the same reason.

Wow so AMD changed a lot since success. Surprising considering MS is pouring so much money into AI, which directly impacts AMD.

Steam deck 2 to chase Qualcomm ? Would make sense also for Deckard VR

Clearly its all about opportunity costs, and this sort of low volume gaming product isn't the focus. Take this announcement just in.

So I can absolutely believe they are doing deals as much on their terms as their customers when they have finite resources to work with. No doubt internally in terms of human resources but also externally at fab. It all impacts cost of goods and potential margin. AI is obviously king. I suspect PS is lucky to get on board early like they did and wonder if Magnus is totally insulated from AI pressures. Not that they wont do it, just whether it didn't have locked capacity and has cost implications as a result. I mean PS might as well, but the timelines seem like deals were signed a fair bit earlier.

Its also why comments around using the past as a guide might be the wrong track, plenty has changed in the last few years in this space.

Combination of AMD having better financials which allow them to be more picky with projects and 3nm and newer nodes having absurd development costs which makes low volume stuff unviable.

It's 99% going to be some SKU of Medusa Premium, but technically Valve does have the freedom to go to Intel/NVIDIA/Qualcomm if they can get a good deal.

I hear he's well respected, just try and ignore all the people laughing.

And we are just having a bit of fun with calling the guy a "titan". It ain't that serious. I think I post Jez's columns here more than anyone. It's his twitter takes that gets him in trouble.

Is it my impression or only Sony at the current scenario is strong enough to ask for a custom silicon, so to speak... ?

OR the relationship between Sony and AMD is strong (is ? idk) because of Cerny and the apparent engeneering sharing between both sides?

Yeah I sometimes wonder if he gets a ghost writer in for his articles lol. There is a bit of disconnect, articles can read well, then he hits the comments its all high school drama.

Yep. His columns are well thought out and very readable, imo. I think he puts more time into his articles but is likely shooting from the hip most of the time on twitter. That's fairly normal for most, I guess, but he's a bit notorious for it and that's why he catches a lot of flak for it.

I will say that he emphasized that THIS TIME he put in the work and asked checked with whatever sources he has before addressing the rumors. So to be fair.....he very well may be right this time and Microsoft has every intention of fulfilling their promise of a new console. And then M m14 will be serving us up titan sized portions of crow and that's fine too. But with Jez's sketchy takes of the past, the only other thing that really gives me pause is the fact that S SneakersSO only ever said next gen Xbox consoles where not a "sure thing", not that it absolutely wasn't going to happen. If I were a betting man.....flip a coin.
