[Jez Corden] Why Microsoft's enshittification of Xbox, Surface, and even Windows itself — are all by design

Bruh... What is going on?
GvCch2sXYAAVzEr

Cussing disturbance and destabilizing the real competitor since early 2000 cause they are afraid of Sony. Sony at this point mustn't react till MS knows what they're doing and they shouldn't be afraid no matter what.

I love my surface pro 8. But even I refuse to upgrade, I wanted better performance with the 9 (and 10), I couldnt give a rats ass about copilot/AI bullshit.

Surface was supposed to take on the iPad

Has anyone here ever seen someone use one in the home?
No but also not ipads. Maybe in other countries it's different but here in europe, in thr countries im regularly at, tablets are a device for kids. I never see a tablet unless it has some thick rubber casing and it's being used for kids to shut up.

People dont mind mistakes, or a game that doesn't work out.

But People are sick of greed. No loyalty to workers ot their families.

You can make $500 Billion but if next quarter isn't $501B, its not good enough. It's gross.

I usually dont buy his takes but his info on MS position in the AI "race" is on point. Google has come from behind and is poised to win, likely with X/Grok in second place. Though I still massively doubt there's a real business in any of it. The second they start trying to shoehorn ads in, everyone will quit bothering with it and there'll be even less profit in it than there is now (which is less than zero)

Embrace. Extend. Extinguish. It's the MS way.

As far as games go lets be honest, they haven't truly set the pace since Halo 3

Well said. These companies treat people like interchangeable economic units for the whole world to see. Why would I want to support you?

Like just anecdotally I hear Costco treats its workers quite well and they are closed on all holidays. This makes me feel good about spending money there. Even though I'm sure they are a ruthless company in other ways.

Sony hasn't been their real competition for years, they sacrificed Xbox to bring all their games to Windows because they're terrified of Steam and Valve's Linux projects. They know that if they can't force gamers to use their bloated spyware OS their shitty monopoly will soon be over especially given how much Windows 11 fucking sucks

I mean, hate on Jez all you want but you can't argue what he's saying

Gotta learn to separate the message from the messenger sometimes

If more journalist and consumers took a stance and got too loud, Microsoft/xbox would have to do something

You can argue all you want about them not caring and having too much money, but perception is a huge thing.

If anything, Jez being the Microsoft cocksucker he is and still choosing to write this article is at least a sign that Microsoft has to do some damage control fast, and I doubt the 10 people who are gonna buy Helldivers on Xbox are going to restore any good faith

I think you're giving Microsoft way too much credit. I also work at a pretty large corp and there is never a master plan that comes together, all the departments are at each other's throats and whatever gets done is usually by accident. I really doubt Xbox games coming to PC had anything to do with Windows Vs Linux or Steam. That was probably just Phil flailing about on his own.

I understand most corporations are run by morons but this is an existential crisis for Microsoft and someone higher up must have noticed that if they lose Windows gaming people would be free to use other less shitty OSs

They decided to block a few billion PCs from upgrading to Windows 11 while also stopping support for 10. They practically pushed people to Linux all by themselves. Steam or gaming are just breadcrumbs compared to the overall damage done. I still don't believe they've fully grasped the situation, let alone formulated a plan of action.

Regardless, Jez is still a punk who writes articles the day after or hours after bad news to deflect said bad news.

There's only one real hope for the industry as a whole at this point and its Xbox's studio survival. Gamepass or any version of it is not coming to steam, PlayStation or Nintendo. I see zero reason outside of legalities I'm unaware of why Microsoft shouldn't pull the plug on gamepass.

Yet…. They're going to try and take on steam with this horseshit version of windows as if there won't be about 10 asterisks to go with it….They have been outflanked years in advance by steam. Phil and co thinking they can create markets. They destroyed one

There is no plan of action. My company has 100K people. Dealing with MS as a large Enterprise is almost as bad as a consumer.

MS also "helpfully" fired bunch of sales and enterprise support people so it's even worse now. But don't worry, licensing fees are still going up and up.

I've always written on the internet that Phil Spencer created a cult of personality
At least it seems that people are finally realizing this and blaming the snake oil salesman Phil Spencer, a sociopath

More than 100,000 people have seen this post, I hope the algorithm got it right to display this to anyone, DEVs for example, who one day intends to work for Phill or in partnership with Phill Spencer.

Phil Spencer was in charge for a decade, I would put the blame on him and the Xbox management rather than CEO or CFO of Microsoft. But I should think they should have informed Phil what targets he had to meet and this was not a sudden decision that was taken in a day or two.

Phil Spencer presents as a charismatic, handsome and friendly man who cares deeply about gaming and gamers- and not even just those invested in his own platform. It's easy to see why so many journalists and gaming enthusiasts have been seduced by him. He's likely an aspirational figure to many of them.

Good point why not mention Phil? Jez is coming around but it's weak sauce to focus on Satya if anything he gave Phil a damn blank check imagine a world with Peter Moore and unlimited cash.

Yep, and remember who was in charge of Xbox dev studios during Xbox 360 era when they canned most of them and repurposed a bunch to Kinect exclusives….

There's a reason for TPM 2.0, these pieces of shit are trying to slowly create their own "walled garden" for Windows which would be invaluable for them, that's why they're risking losing so many customers. You're underestimate them if you think they recklessly just decided to do that, they've been trying to take complete control of Windows for more than a decade starting with the introduction of Windows 8 apps

He carefully wrote this long ass article with not one mention of Phil. He thinks he's fooling anyone with this bullshit. We are on to your games Jez, as soon as the smoke clears you will be back to fluffing your daddy Phil Spencer's balls.

The only "real" product Microsoft has put out so far, Windows Recall, is almost universally hated as a privacy nightmare made manifest, despite changes Microsoft has attempted to make. The Copilot+ PC range that its tied to has been nothing short of a spectacular flop, while sacrificing the Surface brand in the process.
This was the final nail in the coffin for me to take steps over moving things to Linux (specifically PikaOS).

I know they backtracked a bit after consumer response, but they'll try again in batches until they get close enough to this.

I still have a dual-boot setup because some apps for work I need are on Windows, but I've found alternatives for most (some that are better), and for games there are still performance benefits on Nvidia (HDR as well). That said, other games I get less to no stuttering with better frame-times, less background bloat sucking up RAM, faster system startup times, more customization, and updates keep happening that inch it closer to being a full replacement for Windows.

At the very least for Windows users, I'd recommend de-bloating your system. This Windows De-Bloater worked well enough for me, but there are others that do the same good job.

For MS making money is the only thing that matters, not people, not consoles, just cold, hard profit. I would expect the entire Western game industry to follow suit. Thankfully we still have Eastern gaming philosophy that is saving gaming right now: exclusives, unique hardware, fun games over tech specs etc.

Gabe actually likes PlayStation more and I could support what I said with evidence but I don't wish to gaslight big corporates relationships cause I like and support all their alternative platforms.

You're 100% correct but you're assuming Jez Corden isn't a consistent piece of shit liar.

He's a piece of shit liar that thinks he's fooling everyone. Most Xbox owners -- myself included -- can spot people like him from a galactic mile away because if you're actually platform neutral you can't look at Xbox and claim they've got it figured out.

I'm guessing he's either on their payroll or he gets incentives to lie on their behalf. It makes sense if his rent/groceries/gas/internet access/random Amazon purchase etc. are funded by Xbox.
