Crazy how well the Switch 2 holds it own in those graphical comparisons, especially in games like Cyberpunk. It even looks better in some cases. And at half the price.

DLSS is truly some wizard shit.

Can we stop posting El Analist the Bits stuff?
His comparisons have been shown to be BS multiple times, and he often has false information.
Just recently he was saying Silent Hill F runs at 320p to 720p on base Ps5 in performance mode, turns out it's one of the few UE5 games that actually runs at 1080p in performance mode.

He used to be a banned source on GAF for a reason. Don't really know why the ban was lifted.

A 3tflop machine running 1.7tflop in handheld vs a 5tflop machine for more than twice the price

Actually no, the s2 actually holding up a bit in these comparisons is actually commendable.

I think all the banned sources were undone.

Sometimes people will post vgchartz and that shit was banned back in my lurker days

this is why I hope Intel+Nvidia SoCs hit the market as quickly as possible!

True. He is not credible.

That's probably because the Video Games are specifically developed for the Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware Capabilities.

While the XBox Ally X is just a PC in the End and therefore just gets the PC Version which is not optimised for a PC Handheld.

This is most impressive for the Switch 2 all things considered however, I wonder if Switch 2 doesn't have a demanding enough game to really show off where is sits in comparison.

Great time to be an untethered gamer.

Switch 2 has many demanding games. Hogwarts Legacy is quite demanding and Star Wars Outlaws is one of the most demanding games on the market. Not to mention UE5 titles like Cronos: The New Dawn.

Is it hard to mod in FSR 4 in windows? Would like to see how much of a hit the Xbox ROG Ally X would take vs using this FSR 3 slop.
No. It's super easy. It takes a few minutes per game if that. Games that support FSR4, like cyberpunk, it's a drag and drop operation. The difference FSR4 makes on handheld is astounding. The clarity difference between FSR2/3 and 4 cannot be understated.

I don't have CP2077 installed right now but here's BG3 on my legion go. 1920x1200. Medium/high settings. 55-60fps. Both images are being slowly panned so FSR doesn't have a chance to resolve a static image. This is how the game appears in motion.

FSR2.2 Ultra Performance, internal resolution 640x400.

FSR4 Ultra Performance, internal resolution 640x400.

Good upscaling on a handheld is a massive, massive gamechanger.

With those results, who would ever go for the Ally X? A Switch 2 is half the price with a free game in a bundle, or even less than half the price without a game.
Most likely to play their PC and Steam gaming library when they're not at their PC. Most people opt for a Steam Deck, though.

I picked up a Switch 2 mostly for Nintendo exclusives, and I know I'm not the only one.

PC + Nintendo or Sony + Nintendo seem to be pretty common combos for a lot of gamers.

You just explained the one scenario where the Ally X could have offered something potentially interesting, but the Steam Deck offers infinitely better value proposition than the Ally X.

Also .. being a big switch 2 fanboy even I can see most of that is very selective settings choices for the pc handheld.

But also people here still don't seem to understand that switch 2 is a ps4 plus level machine not a switch 1 with more ram.

For sure, I don't disagree with you there!

Coming from a Steam Deck, which was feeling a bit long in the tooth for me, I picked up a Legion Go S with SteamOS and a powerful Z1E chip. I absolutely love this thing. It's not perfect, but it feels like a Steam Deck 2.

I could've bought a ROG Ally X, instead, so that I could play all of my PC games, including PC Game Pass. Pretty much the same performance on both.

At the end of the day, the usability of SteamOS was far more valuable to me, even though it locks out a number of gaming opportunities. The 8 inch screen also won me over.

They're at least making an attempt with this Full Screen Experience thing and are working toward a SteamOS experience (compiling shaders ahead of time, sleep states, ease of use, removing bloat, etc.) However, it sounds like they still have a ways to go. I hope they get there sooner, than later.

Pricing and value is a whole different story. $999 is way too much, even for some power users. And for most gamers, Steam Deck is more than good enough.

All said the battery life on switch 2 is outraging. I like the hardware but they could put a replaceable battery at least. The thing that I have to wait to rebuy the new future sku to have a decent battery life irritate me.

No doubt the Switch 2 is a beast but there is no scenario in which it will outperform a machine with twice the cost.

I hear you on Outlaws, that game is a monster and is a fine showcase for what the Switch 2 can output but moving forward I wonder if the gap will be more pronounced. ( I mean for almost double the price it should be more pronounced )

It was never going to, but the bigger question is paying beyond premium for more frames really worth it? Or is it even worth buying over other options like the $450 rog ally x1e? Or steam deck?

Doom TDA just got a ROG Ally X preset added.

A real console with dedicated software vs a PC with no dedicated software

Story of a lifetime
Doom TDA and few others like Baldur's Gate 3 are getting Handheld support/preset for the Ally X. MS is also adding a Handheld Verified tag to store pages.

Indies and most AA games don't really need handheld presets. MS first and second party will start to include them. And they will encourage the AAA third party devs into adding handheld support/presets.

Handheld support will also make it more likely for the publishers to make game Play Anywhere and Cloud Enabled.

Amazing difference. From such a low resolution. FSR5 will be even better by next gen.

This device is also for Xbox, Gamepass, Play Anywhere, Cloud Gaming users.

The white one makes for one of the best streaming handhelds. Plus some Native.

Star Wars Outlaws has RTGI and Ray Traced reflections while holding it's 1080p/30fps rarely dropping and even got several graphic patches to remove a lot of pop in, all of that runs in handheld mode as well.

According to DF, RE9 also has RTGI and that game hangs around 60fps most the time.

Yeah and the also cut off the poly count details compared the original never forget it.

I have not the foggiest idea of its worth it to the PC gamer. I'm sure there are some folks out there that will love this and tinker around with it, add an eGPU and a dock and get the very most out of it. Probably come close (enough) to a mid level desktop for the same price and still have the ability to take it with you. I'm sure there is someone looking for that.

I'm a untethered gamer only so it makes no sense for me to invest in any device that will provide diminishing returns over my current Switch 2 / Steam Deck combo. And still cost more than both combined.

I'm of the thinking that there are no more "impossible ports" after seeming Star Wars Outlaws for Switch 2 so I am fully onboard with the idea. RE9 looks good so far on Switch 2, clearly downgraded but that is to be expected on a system that small.

An OLED model will afford them the luxury to put a bigger battery in there and OLED displays are more power efficient.

So that's what I'm waiting for.

REally gotta watch the video. I appreciate the full screen pics but it's not telling the whole story. Switch 2 was surprisingly good in games I didn't think it had the horsepower in. Also DLSS >>>>>> FSR even after 4 versions. Xbox Ally X in Cyberpunk was really impressive. I was really worried about battery life as well, but it seems that worry is put to rest. Playing 2-3 hour of Cyberpunk or 3-5 hours of a game like Silksong is plenty for a handheld. Switch is a bit lacking in that department. Load times are great on the Ally X, as well as download speed, at least when comparing to the switch 2.

Overall is it worth $550 more to have better performance, battery life, load times and download speeds, more ergonomic controls and most importantly, access to all my Steam library...

I will be traveling for Thanksgiving next month...would sure be nice if I could game on the plane for a 4 hour flight

It just might be worth it. Mine arrives tomorrow...this video is tempting me to just open the damn box.

So the more expensive and larger hardware has longer battery life and better performance.

And the console is better value for what it delivers.

Nothing new.
