Been waiting for this game and this OT!

Oh Yeah GIF

I forgot this was coming out tomorrow. Too many good games to play right now, will probably wait for that physical release! Especially since the Switch 2 version is an actual game cartridge and not just a digital key card.

I can't wait to mess around with this and have some fun.

Should be particularly great also if you're coming off MK1 and need a reminder of how fun the franchise once was.

What platform is everyone getting it on?

I'm undecided on what to pick it up for!
It's cross-platform play, right? I don't think it should matter, but I'm personally getting it on S2.

Pre-purchased the Xbox version a few hours ago. This is probably my most anticipated game of the year and I'm not even a hardcore fan of the series. Can't wait to dig into it, relive some childhood memories, and compare the various versions of each game. I might try doing a Sub-Zero playthrough of MK-MKII-MK3-MK4 arcade and another playthrough of the first three installments on Genesis/32X.

Looks like only the same platform can play against each other at launch:
  • PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
I'm not sure if they've confirmed full cross platform play yet, but I hope so🤞

Be neat to see how competitive old school mk is versus modern mk which is just generic every fighter ever

Appologies if already answered, but has there been talks of another physical kollectors edition run? Preorders sold out and im a little bitch late to the party.....
I wouldn't count on it tbh

Pre-orders ended August 31st. The physical game will ship before the rest of the Kollector's Edition to ensure you receive it at the same time as those who order the Standard and Deluxe Editions. Your game will ship December 12th in Standard Edition packaging. The rest of the Kollector's Edition will ship later. Ship date to be announced.

I only care about this collection because of the alleged arcade version of MK4, since it's still not emulated correctly by other emulators like MAME. Which means it's the only way/first time we ever get to play this at home.

So how does the game look/perform? Is it accurate? It's the arcade version, right? Not one of the inferior console ports?

One thing I liked about MK4 was how loud the arcade at the mall had it. You would hear Raiden's speech while riding the escalator. For all its flaws, running up to someone and snapping their arm or leg was a lot of fun.

I'm still planning to wait until December for the retail release, hopefully the impressions will be positive and I won't have to change my mind. :)

Anyone that got this earlier, can you confirm there are shaders/filters like scanlines-crt etc? Because this looks abysmall compared to my MAME ports on Retroarch. I think I saw for a few seconds on one YT video one guy mention it, but it was one of those shaders that actually put vaseline over your game for that "true" CRT lack of sharpness feel. I really hope they added a few of them.

yes and its on by default

Dude, I never realized how difficult MK3 Brutalities were.

Anyway, this collection is awesome.

Loving it so far. Only played MK1 and MK2 so far, as they're the closest to my heart, but having a ball. These are the home conversions I always dreamed of.

There is only one filter for the arcade and console titles but it is the coolest looking CRT filter I've seen in an official release. Not sure how it stacks up against community-made shaders though.

Bought it on Switch 2. So far everything plays and looks fine.

Side note - Wild how much input lag the first Mortal Kombat had on the SNES.

Question - is there cross play between consoles?

Did some digging around the PC files. So far, the kollection is damn impressive in general. I did notice some things here though...
  • No .ini file in the game files to tweak the settings. Game is running at 1080P on PC. No options to crank it to 4K.
  • Game is using Libretro/Retroarch as a front end.
  • MK Trilogy/Mythologies/Special Forces files are the PS1 .cue/.bin files.
