I never played through the N64 MK Trilogy, I hope thats on there.

Theres some vid footage i saw earlier of some dude live streaming from EVO and he was showing the Switch 2 version of MK Trilogy for a few minutes. Based on the character select screen, the one theyre showing is the PSOne version. They could still have the N64 one in the Kollection too possibly.

Load times were near instant, and it looked really good. Looking forward to seeing more detailed impressions of the games.

N64 is the version used for the competive scene although I suppose if they fix the bugs and let you turn off aggressor than people might prefer the PS one.

Where the hell are the graphics filters? Every frame looks like a blown up jpeg.
They better have integrated scanline filter overlay because otherwise it looks like crap on anything bigger than a phone.

EDIT:
Just saw the video, yeah this looks terrible. My retroarch emulated MK 2 and 3 look light years ahead just because of the scanlines which sharpen up the image. You would think with modern tech and even Ai they could of upscaled some of these backgrounds or actually make it native widescreen and not windowed again.

Seems they were able to justify putting the entire game on the card by charging ~$10 more.

I wonder how many people would be ok if Publishers made this compromise and the average Switch 2 game that is normally $50 now costs $60 and $60, now costs $70 and so on...
What a shitty deal for consumers, surprise there hasn't been a thread about it. Nintendo needs a solution and not game key cards.

Ditto on this. Prerendered visuals looks godawful without a proper CRT filter implementation. With good scanlines, the older MK games are still aesthetically appealing.
In the Maximillion video where they interviewed Digital Eclipse, they confirmed that it will have CRT filters.

Watch the video from Max posted above. They discuss it at about 39 minutes in. No need to worry.
Its good that they are confirming it, I just hope its not just the basic crt filter where the angles are rounded to make it look like a TV which is just a minor change. Retroarch has tons of scanline overlays and they add a lot of sharpness to the game overall. For example Ninja Gaiden Ragebound has a CRT filter but all it did was make the screen more rounded but it never improved the sharpness of the pixels or should I say, hide the size of the pixels.

ON TOPIC:
For those buying the physical release, based on theis Maximilian interview, they said the digital version will be out way before the physical version so keep in mind whoever just preorders and wonders why they didnt get their copy yet.

It should have always been physical being $10 more or whatever. Its never made any logical sense to me * as a consumer * to spend the same amount of money on a digital game as I would a physical one.

I've ordered this on Switch 2, paying top dollar for old games, because the ENTIRE KOLLECTION is on a game card, and I want my dollars to go towards that which I support.

Yea it's pretty fucked up. You'd think Nintendo would try to have a solution that pleases their CUSTOMERS more than the publishers, esp since Switch 1 was highly successful because of its physical games and now they seems to think people are stupid enough to think as long as its a plastic card it "counts" the same.

Now if people begin to change their spending habits and software sales slow up, how does that make anyone happy? They could have at least made one more different sized, cheaper card for publishers to use.

All get slip cover but Atari have the ninjas exclusively. Not sure if that is worth over Amazon since I have prime.

Let's just hope they don't fuck with the games, have to admit it's really easy to not give them any money these days, the new games are ultra cringe.

Fan-made. Absolutely insane. Check it out.

Never owned a 3DO, but followed this homebrew port for a while... and for a homebrew 3DO port is is quiet shockingly good. There is alo a Homebrew port of MK1 for the Atari Jaguar that someone is making too.

reading through various old gaming magazines via archive.org, I noticed that Panasonic was planning on doing a port of Mortal Kombat 3 for the 3DO themselves...

Here's an August 1995 EGM article talking about Panasonic (not 3DO) making a deal with Midway to port MK3 and NBA Jam to the console...

Here's a December 1995 article from Diehard Game fan Magazine (I have this issue still, as I was a subscriber to game fan magazine) , the right column is basically a paid for advertisement from Panasonic themselves dropping some info that Mortal Kombat 3 was in the works for an April 1996 release on the 3DO. But I guess this port was cancelled due to the instant success of the original Playstation 1 launch, basically crushing the 3DO in retail.

Sony paid Midway for a Mortal Kombat 3 six-month timed exclusive for a 'next gen' port of the game. Which is why MK3 never appeared on the Sega Saturn during the same time frame. Yeah, Mortal Kombat 3 was on the 16-bit machines... but when it came to the 'new' for the time 32-bit systems, Sony had a timed exclusive for the North American launch.

I guess that timed exclusive would have ended around January- February of 1996... which would align with Panasonic planning their own 3DO port. ..

Also, for the hell of it, here's EGM review scores for Mortal Kombat 3 for the PS1. What was the biggest complaint? Shang Tsung loading times.

Which version of Mortal Kombat will you be playing first once this collection drops, and why? Get over here and leave your selections in the comments section below.

It has already been confirmed that Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the PS1 will have no loading times, and fixed Shang Tsung morphs. They claim that more games will be announced soon. This is honestly looking to be a really killer kollection of Mortal Kombat games. They are even including the notorious GBA Mortal Kombat Advance. 32x port is there. No announcement of MK Gold for the Dreamcast.

Yes, super impressed, didn't think it'd be this big of a collection, weird that greed didn't get the better of them, haven't bought any of their new games past MKX on account of the bland ugly characters, but I have noticed they desperately try to extract post-sale money from people with each iteration.

I wonder why UMK3 for Genesis isn't included. I liked that version. Same with MK4 on N64.

I mean, afaik that's just a downgraded version compared to the SNES version, with no unique features.
same with MK4 on N64.

more curious omissions are MK Trilogy on N64, since it has unique changes as well as a different hidden character, and MK Gold, since that is an expanded version of MK4
