Yup.I also believe PC day one had a big impact on the XBS consoles sales.
Infinite money only allow you to retry as many times as it takes. But if they keep repeating the same mistakes then infinite retries doesn't help. They never had a chance after so many mistakes made over the years. The Xbox case is a case study in how you can do so badly with almost unlimited money and end up like this.
Xbox Series X 4K UHD playback is very inferior to PS5.For me, it's still the best media box out of the 3 consoles without question due to the app support.
You can argue as much as you want that's we buy it solely for games, but I spend more time on my Xbox currently watching YouTube, listening to music, or watching movies than actually gaming. Most of my "gaming" comes from watching live streams either on Twitch or YouTube.
I'm been with Xbox since day 1 so having my digital library from 360 to now carried over is very important as well. The OG Xbox games is just an added bonus.
Besides that though, it probably isn't much honestly as the future is shaky.
Nintendo and Sony are under the same pressure.I don't think it's just Xbox, we actually wanted a tight schedule of 1st party releases like every 2 to 3 years and that stopped after Halo 3, Crash Bandicoot 3, Uncharted 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears 3, God of War 3, Killzone 3, The Last of Us Part 2.
Xbox Series X 4K UHD playback is very inferior to PS5.
PS5 can do 12 bit YCBR444 color gamut while Xbox Series X can only do 10 bit RGB. Also Xbox Series X skips frames. Xbox has a PC centric design.
Neither support Dolby Vision. Xbox Series X dolby vision for apps is also very inferior.
Meanwhile the PS5 4K blu player is toe to toe with the best 4K blu players at much lower price.
You literally have to pause in certain scenes and zoom in to see the difference.
Also, the Xbox Series X 4K Blu Player is region locked and PS5 4K Blu Ray Player is not region locked for 4K UHD discs. For Blu rays and DVDs, you can install custom firmware in PS3 and PS4 to play Blu rays and DVDs from all regions. Since Xbox One can't be modded, it will always be an inferior blu ray player.
PS5, PS4 and PS3 are way better media machines.
That took these releases for you to realize? The letdown that were the back-to-back releases of Redfall and Starfield.
Not having a global footprint is on them, Windows, MS Office and Azure all have global footprint.Xbox never really had a global footprint like Sony did. They basically lost what they had gained with 360(which was largely in the Anglosphere) and then just never recovered...
This is the correct answer…economics. You think people are not buying because there is no supply, but reality is there is no supply because people are not buying.
I think that RROD did that first. Who wants to gamble buying the new console with that in mind…plus that ONE unveil…yikesXbox one unveil was the major thing. That destroyed most of the confidence the general public had in the brand.
Maybe. The Japanese seem to just prefer Japanese companies. I'm not sure anything could be done there. Not having a global footprint is on them, Windows, MS Office and Azure all have global footprint.
Overall media playback on Xbox is inferior to PS5. I don't know why you are implying that PS5 has less app support. The ones you mentioned, YouTube and Twitch, are on PS5. Ultimately both consoles will have inferior app support to Android TV which is built in to Sony Bravia TVs.I said app support and you're arguing about a physical blu-ray player I don't use for movies...
This is actually false because Japanese love their iPhones over Sony Xperia phones. None of the Japanese smartphone brands dethroned the iPhone in Japan. Same with TVs, Sony is losing to Chinese TVsMaybe. The Japanese seem to just prefer Japanese companies. I'm not sure anything could be done there.
Europe theoretically should be a competitive space. Microsoft probably just didn't do enough advertising.
Sony has always advertised at soccer stadiums in Europe and I think people just associate the Fifa games with Playstation.
PS2 had a whole bunch of exclusive. Third party multi-platform games that we think of now were nearly all exclusive to the PS2. Final fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, GTA, Devil May Cry etc. If were talking first party exclusive that's a different conversation. The PS2 says hi.
I'm implying it because it does, as someone who's owned and navigated both console dashboards.Overall media playback on Xbox is inferior to PS5. The main difference between Microsoft and the other console makers is that Microsoft is unable to create games people will buy a console for.
The only successful franchise they were able to create was Forza. They literally bought everything else. That's not sustainable and the main reason that Xbox is a money black hole.
Say what you want about Sony but they have shown that they can create successfull game franchises when they get desperate enough. Nintendo too.
Xbox is the only one lacking the talent to bounce back with what they already own.
Microsoft is guilty of lacking the talent to attract any fanbase. I agree. If Microsoft is guilty of anything it's that it didn't develop and foster nerd content to the same extent lol. Sony has capeshit. Nintendo is a lock in with weaboo's.
The difference is that shooters and racers are not are not targeting a demographic that are going to be "gaming as a hobby" lifers as more nerd centric content does.Microsoft is guilty of lacking the talent to attract any fanbase. I agree.
Neither consoles can compete with Android TV or Apple TV. None of the consoles are meant to be Nvidia Shield/Apple TV replacement, no one gets these consoles for media playback. You still have not clarified on how PS5 is inferior for streaming media than Xbox.I'm implying it because it does, as someone who's owned and navigated both console dashboards.
That's nice to know about Android TVs and Sony Bravias, but not everyone owns one. I don't for sure.
I don't understand how this really refutes anything I'm saying. All of Microsoft's games are bland and usually done better by 3rd parties. They can only buy things people are already interested in and hope for the best. The difference is that shooters and racers are not are not targeting a demographic that are going to be "gaming as a hobby" lifers as more nerd centric content does.
Nobody talks about store localization, I heard from YTs it's politics and nobody talks about this topic. Not having a global footprint is on them, Windows, MS Office and Azure all have global footprint.
nah thats phil's idiotic go-to excuse to still blame mattrick after more than a decade. he did much worse than him while wasting an extra 100billion on top.At the xbox One reveal conference. It was losing the battle at the point where people began building their digital libraries, in the one/ps4 gen that subsequently lose them the war in the following gen.
Saying it's not a good example but not justifying why is pointless. Not a good example.
I don't see how acquiring Activision Blizzard was a bad decision.
Again, if you want to conquer a market it's on you to find a way to be relevant in there.Maybe.
They need to manufacture and supply more systems.
Thats about it.
WTF is with the incessant "b b b but Sony too!" in so many threads that are specifically about xbox/microsoft?I don't think it's just Xbox, we actually wanted a tight schedule of 1st party releases like every 2 to 3 years and that stopped after Halo 3, Crash Bandicoot 3, Uncharted 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gears 3, God of War 3, Killzone 3, The Last of Us Part 2.
