Welp, I think I just hit mental saturation on HoYo games. I'll be taking a break from ZZZ for a while until they add some compelling gameplay mode that isn't just endgame DPS timer stuff. I spent a few hours trying to get through the current patch content today before it expired, and I just wasn't having any fun. Everything feels so derivative and like they're just copy/pasting shit between their own big 3 games lately, and I don't have the willpower to keep pushing through it so I can pull the next FOMO character.

I'll still be poking around in the thread now and then. I'm hoping that they change things up for 3.x and they do a better job than they did for 2.x. I might jump in for the new void hunter girl since I got guaranteed pity in 20~ pulls, we'll see.

I am impressed that they're actually revisiting standard banner characters, but this new upgrade system sounds kinda balls and it's more stuff to keep you logging in so you don't miss this and that despite nothing fun going on.

I wish you gentlemen many 50/50 wins.

Pejo Pejo Welp... sucks to see a regular in this OT taking an extended break from the game, but if it's not enjoyable anymore, then it is what it is. Luckily, there are plenty of other good games out there. Anyways, see you in the ZZZ OT, probably around version 2.5, since based on early leaks, it's shaping up to be a big patch.



The leak about the new shop where you can buy awakening materials, W-Engines, and other valuable stuff sounds a lot like the Herta and Priceless Jewels shops from Honkai Support Rail. Some of the best F2P Light Cones (basically weapons) in HSR come from those two stores. Pretty solid stuff, IMO.

Yeah, they're actully not going to just let you press one button anymore and be done with it, like they did with Ellen and SAnby buffs before. Now you need to play the end game modes to get the currency to unlock new potential for characters amongst other things. It'll be interesting to see what else is going to be in the shop, how fast can you get required currency and will there be a weekly limit or not.

Why the fuck have they gave Lighter an ability to buff elemental DMG other than Ice and Fire only in Co-Op?:messenger_face_steam:
It's such a HUGE change for him cuz it could allow us to use him in other teams like Electric and Ether. It also looks like Co-Op will be huge with lots of modes and shit where you can pick one class and play together as a team. How fun it'll be remains to be seen and hopefully they'll have great netcode.

In addition to Co-Op, they're adding substat selector for Disc Drives tuning in the music shop, so during advanced tuning we can chose a substat. BUT WAIT! Don't even think about being happy about it cuz it's going to work just like those insanely rare for no good reason (cuz they're shit and useless) tuning devices and even if you get a substat you want via advance tuning, there's still RNG waiting for you to deal with and just like with the tuning device we have now, it won't matter at all if you get the main stat you want, cuz RNG can just easily and effortlesly screw you over and give you shit substats, but with the advanced tuning it'll just give you shit +s to substats you don't need instead, so have "fun" having substat you wanted with zero +s to it thanks to RNG. Oh, but wait, that's not all! In a year from now they'll intro a new tuning thing to make RNG work in your favor for just one substat, then one more year later it'll be two and so on✋:messenger_tears_of_joy:

All things point to the real 2.0 update we should've gotten half a year ago, minus the China-like setting which doesn't fit into ZZZ universe and worse character designs for the most part with a few exceptions.

I hate this character, just a slut, being sexy for the sake of it and selling money.
Makes no sense for her to be like this, Jane was SO much better done.
I'm sorry, squid girl lovers, but I completely agree here. Jane was god-like in comparison and still is combat, personality and design-wise too.

I think it's safe to assume there'll be some kind of limit on grinding this new currency, since that's already how it works in HSR.

Broadly speaking, that's how it works in both HSR and Genshin, so I guess they just copied the system and adapted it to ZZZ.

At Chapter 3 now. Ok, I have to admit that it does get better, you just have to endure the first Chapter and power through it.

I like the new locations they made for this story, it's a welcome change from neverending and same looking research centers and industrial stuff from the rest of the 2.X so far. Let's see what's next.

I don't really enjoy the China setting either, if only it were futuristic and more urban. No wonder the number of players is declining. Many were attracted by a completely different setting. Of course i realize, that they did it for their own market. But it didn't go down well with the others. And the combat system alone cannot carry the game.

There's no combat gameplay yet, but rumor has it that she has two states, one of 'em DEF and the other ATK and her traversal ability is tied to her hoverboard which is also a sheath for her sword. She's supposed to be added to the beta soon, so we'll see if any of this is true or not, but DEF + DPS Hybrid sound interesting at the very least and unlike anything we had before.

In other news (but not related to the 2.3s story),...

So, I thought, what's the worst that could happen, I'll just 10 pull once, get nothing of value in return and build a bit of pity cuz surely...

But the game (or rather RNG) decided otherwise, I guess.

Got exactly 3 copies of Pulchra's sig I missed, how on earth did that happen, idk, and also... well, I guess I've FuFu fully equiped now to pair with Banyue and S11 in case I'll need 2 burn teams and Lighter will be busy for one of 'em. By the time 2.4 will go live, I think I'll have around 30 pulls saved 7-8 of which will go towards Banyue, so now I hope he'll launch during the second phase of the patch cuz it'll mean that all 2.4's pulls will go towards his sig and I'll get it even if I lose 75/25.

Before gettin' FuFu's sig, I used Six Shooter on her cuz I didn't feel like any of the W-Engines I had except the Fossilized Core was good for her, but Lighter uses it so I could't give it to FuFu and now it's fixed. Did a SD7 run to see if it makes a difference and it just doesn't. Like, I did a bit better this time during the second boss, but 2 sec difference without FuFu's sig? Again, doesn't make much of a difference here, maybe it's cuz the boss has way higher Fire weakness and I should've used fire team instead, or maybe character placement (who goes first etc.) and bangboo makes a difference, who knows, but in my case it is how it is.

I've better build when it comes to ATK and CDMG, but Impact suffers cuz of this so I had to switch Disc 6 to Impact, I only need to lvl up her Defensive Assist to lvl 12 now which is currently at lvl 11.

I haven't tired FuFu without her sig before instead of Koleda, so idk if the score could've been similar or not, but Koleda used Tiger set with the Steam Oven. I guess I can get 20K, but I just and simply don't care :messenger_weary: 🫴

Just finished the story and... I just don't get why they made the first chapter so boring, but then again I should't have judged it as if the whole thing is like that... so never again.

It's not the main story though, more like 3 stories in one plus there's also additional stories for squid girl and Lucia (I've yet to even start it, but I've high hopes for it now) and THIS is what I mean by saying that they should fill the locations with interesting content - character stories and all that, but it should be a part of the side content, not the main thing of the update you do while waiting for the true story update.

I just know it can be easily done if they just get rid of the all stupid bangboo events and just let people on the team focus on creating cool and interesting side content instead. Nobody's going to miss any of the bangboo events ever, they're just boring and anoying trash (n) As for Manato, Idk, sometimes he's cool, but he can also get boring and not just in this story of his, so yeah, he's a mixed bag when it comes to writing, but still way better than Harumasa, I give him that(y)

Oh and I forgot to mention Ye Shunguang yesterday since she appeared at the end of the 2.3s story. I like her a lot and she looks better in the game than on the video they posted. Given her status in the faction though, she's not going to be another VH.

There's quite a bit of info regarding what they're triyng to do with the story as a whole, it's structure and major story updates. So 2.4 and 2.5 will have a 2 part main story arc, so one part for each update.

What I think they haven't done yet and should do asap, is to separate the main story timeline they have now which has a lot of side stories in it not related to the main story, from the side stories of characters and factions, sort of like how MICA did it in GFL1-2. So when 2.6 or 2.7 for example will be released, you could clearly see what they're a part of, the main story or a side / character / faction story. So, separate tab for the main story and separate tab for faction stories and their characters. This change alone will immediately set the right expectations for each update unlike what they did in 2.3 for example - I myself expected main story update.

Anyway, very interesting read with some dev insights. Be warned though that there's a lot of spoilers, so unless you finished everything MSQ related up to this point, you might want to do that first.

Forget the story….. I personally skip everything. I just farm for tapes. They need to up grade their dailies, or make more open world combat areas. Everything is so compartmentalized. They also need to or should flesh out the dating "quality time'. It's so lame, but has so much potential. Oh look let's go to a store. Ok great…. Trust increase….

Given how they worded what and how they're planning on doing it (provided translation is 80% accurate at least), it'll take them a long while and maybe all the way into 3.X for some of the big changes to go live, but after reading all this I'm cautiously optimistic now🙏:messenger_relieved:

Finally had some time to read through this. There are some nice sounding changes if they actually pull it off/follow through, but I still don't think they understand how poorly their storytelling method flows. They drag out 90% of the new main story chapters doing menial chores for NPCs, only for it to get good in the last 15 minutes, and then it's over. Almost every time since 2.0. Even then, they leave far too many plot points orphaned or unanswered, but not in a "wait and see what happens next" way, they just never address them again (Solder Anby story, as an example). They also ignored the issue of the Proxies just being amazing at everything from the start, and the issues with unearned successes feeling empty, in the narrative.

They sound very unfocused with what they want the game to be, and they're just reacting to some feedback while ignoring other stuff. At least they acknowledge that most of their characters have a shelf life of about 2 patches after their release before they start their fall off, into the abyss. If their only plan to address this are some half-assed crit damage buffs that you grind out over 5 weeks, they still don't get it.

At least they acknowledged that the Cinema event was a big success. I'm puzzled that they haven't done more events like that already. It wasn't even voiced, so it can't be that expensive to develop. Just plop the characters on the screen and make a decent minigame and some good worldbuilding/character building.

This right here was a huge disappointment for me. Like, when they said that Obol will get its time to shine finally (and it did), I thought that surely they'll continue what SAanby left to do cuz it also related to S11 and their relationship, but instead she just showed up as if nothing happened and that she don't have anything better to do and... well, what the fuck was that? So yeah, what they need to focus on improving the most right now is the way they tell stories and for them to be part of the whole story arc that will come together at the end with a very satisfying banger - I'll get to that tomorrow in the WuWa thread btw cuz I just finished Rinascita's story finale - oh boy I have things to say.

But after reading all that, I'll give them a chance to set things right cuz they clearly see the problems and willing to address them, it's just a matter of if they'll succeed or not. So yeah, let's wait and see, they only have one chance at this especially after what they did with 2.X so far and I hope they know it.

Yeah, it's not just about buffs and shit, it's about the fact that they're not actively participating in the story and not part of the overall narrative anymore, well, a ton of them, not all. They think of the old characters as old friends which they haven't seen in years, then meet up with them for a few hours and that's it. This is a huge issue imho and a very, VERY wrong way to look at the problem. Yes, buffs are nice when they're great, but people want to spend more time with characters, see and interact with them more, be it events, quests or the main story.

They talked about the movie event and even though it was great, there has to be like x10 times things like this in the game and they still haven't improved Quality Time which can't even be called that, it's more like a shallow nothing of something that doesn't exist, they just completely abandoned it.

It's tough, yeah, especially considering that Ye Shunguang is rumored to be in the 1st Phase of 2.5 right after Banyue.

I guess in my case it'll depend on how fast I'll get Banyue's sig - I don't have to worry about him at all given I've 100% and will get him in 7-8 pulls, but his sig... Man, with my shitty luck I could lose 75/25 again. I guess I can use Manato's sig cuz it's Banyue's second best chose. We'll see.

No way, they removed the anomaly buff in Da. It's slowly getting on my nerves.
They also thrown this POS mech which jumps a lot, wasting time, don't have any moves you can parry which makes stunning him a fuckin' chore that takes a lot of time and you need to stun him 4 times for 20+K clear.

So happy there are no reruns that I want in this upcoming patch, as I'm broke and was already planning on skipping the new agents anyway to save for Zhao, Shunguang, and robot girl from the angels of delusion.

So I know I said I was taking a break, but I had some time today so I finished the 2.3 story, and while there was still far too many plot points abandoned and things that didn't make sense, it at least had an acceptable beginning, middle, and end. I have to say, it was nice seeing them go 1990s anime plot with Minato, fighting his clone and then having a bro moment. Probably the best handled male character since Lighter, arguably better even, despite it being a minor plot point overall. Too bad his gameplay feels like ass, he's probably my favorite male in the game currently outside of Billy.
 
Zhao is S rank Defence? Why? Well firstly why S rank and then WHY DEFENCE? Caesar is the best (and frankly OP) defence character in the game by a country mile with excellent shield and anti-interrupt, why does Zhao have to be Defense and S rank at that?

But it saddens me to see so much negativity towards her here. I just don't get it. Like, yeah, I was at first on the fence too first time I saw her, but after her animations got leaked, after seeing how funny she is and after finishing 2.3, I'd honestly love to get her, play as her and LMFAO while doing it, but not after wasting my polys by pulling her and failing 50/50, miHoYo! A rank is what she should've been, but I guess her status in the faction prevents it from being so. But still, man, WTF? Why should any Caesar owner pull for her?

Quick answer is that she will have some mechanic that a boss or future character will heavily favor that will make that score much worse without her.

I remember when the game launched, I shat on the idea of Defense characters in general in this game, because they immediately turned it into an endgame DPS race with a timer, but everyone was telling me "no way, Defense will have its day!". Caesar had like a patch or two, since then it's been crickets for Defense. Wonder if Zhou will (temporarily) shake things up for Defense again. Really there's no reason that Defense couldn't have been Rupture, they just wanted to shill Miasma shields and force you to roll new specialized W-Engines. Such is the HoYo way.
 
Zhao being an S-rank and defense is the best news for me, since it's an easy skip. This also means more time to save polys for agents I actually want to pull, and maybe snag some dupes for my favs like Yixuan if she'll be rerun in 2.5.

Yeah, if the agent in the Live 2D moves slightly, it means they're S rank. If it's static, like the Manato one you've posted, then it's A rank.

Anyways, Zhao leaks are out, so it's now 100% confirmed she'll be S rank.
