Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Set for December 19

If Joshua doesn't end Paul within round 1 then either he's finished as a boxer or it's rigged.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only professional boxer Paul has taken on is Tommy Fury, who he lost to. I'm even using the term "professional" loosely here as well.

Joshua is still probably a top 10 in the world heavyweight. People clown on him a lot, but he's still a top boxer. If this is anything other than a 1st round KO you know its rigged.

I'm of two minds on this. As a more than casual boxing fan, I appreciate the attention the sport receives from these glamour bouts. On the other hand, Jake was able to circumvent the great filters of boxing and is one of the biggest money makers in the sport.

I can't hate his hustle. I can't hate his effort. I can hate that no young up and comer was able to make a name by having an opportunity to take on a star. He did fight Fury, but Fury was there due to his name.

I get that "surely this is the guy that will finally beat him" has been the promotional gimmick the whole time. But, and I say this as someone who only has a very casual knowledge of boxing, this time does seem like too big of a step up. I wonder if this is the end of the road for this stuff and Paul is planning to retire after this and this is him cashing in one last time, knowing he's going to get KTFO but will make a shitload from it?

Whatever a person may think of Jake Paul as a boxer, he's undeniably a genius when it comes to his ability to promote himself. The fact that he is getting this kind of fight without having to defeat a single ranked opponent to earn that opportunity speaks volumes. Sure, Joshua isn't quite in his prime anymore, but he competed for a heavyweight title just last year....he's definitely not in the same category as the washed up MMA dudes that Paul tends to cherry pick.
