We all already know about the Switch and Switch 2, but what about the Steam Deck?tldr heavy cuts across the board, on top resolution cut, and on top of that unstable 30fps, so fucking disgrace ;D

steamdeck is roughly a quarter of what switch2 is capable of, ofc its weak af when switch2 ports look nasty af compared to what those games look on modern pc.We all already know about the Switch and Switch 2, but what about the Steam Deck?![]()
In pure CPU benchmarks the Deck is a little faster than the Switch 2.steamdeck is roughly a quarter of what switch2 is capable of, ofc its weak af when switch2 ports look nasty af compared to what those games look on modern pc.
Im perfectly aware what hardware switch2 has, its above ps4pr0/xbox one x simply coz of modern feature set even tho its gpu is weaker even from ps4pr0 in raw raster, just compare how cp2077 looks/plays on them and u can figure that shit out.In pure CPU benchmarks the Deck is a little faster than the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 has the GPU performance of a PS4 Pro versus the Deck's base PS4 comparison. The big thing is the Switch 2 is NVIDIA's Ampere which is the RTX 3000 series. It has raytracing hardware and can do DLSS. IMO it really shows the difference between AMD and NVIDIA's offerings. DLSS just performs crazy voodoo compared to raw raster rendering. The Deck can look good with the FSR4 hacks, but has a higher performance hit.

There was no sons of liberty expack on last gen consoles coz it would run extremly terribly, there is on switch2 tho(it runs visibly worse than base game).
And steamdeck? That old shit is weaker even from base ps4, so ofc its way weaker from switch2.
As we all could see even 4 months ago, switch2 is clear winner compared to steamdeck, at least in docked mode![]()
My argument is- fuck portables, its already bad enough ninny gimped their hardware from the times of wii back in 2006(it was stationary but had like 14W tdp, so might have as well be portable in terms of graphical fidelity), we dont want last bastion of consoles aka sony to screw themselfs with that too.I'm not sure what you're trying to argue. You originally said the Deck couldn't run a bunch of games, and I provided videos showing that most ran just fine.
I then said the Deck had a more powerful CPU than the Switch 2, but slower GPU. In that video Richard mentioned the Deck's CPU should have given it an advantage over the Switch, but we weren't seeing it in that game.
So a custom version of a game runs better than a handheld PC that was 4.5 years old when the newer hardware released. Running in a dock mode 1080p it wasn't designed for. Running a Windows game through a translation layer. From the video you linked, lower the game to 720p, and it's very stable 30 fps.
My original argument was the Deck is already running all of the PS5 games brought over to the PC. So a PS6 console that's using 3-4 generations of newer technology. Shouldn't have any issues running any PS5 game. Do you disagree with that?
Why can't we have options? Bruh, if you have a family with young kids especially portables are a difference between gaming and not gaming at all.My argument is- fuck portables, its already bad enough ninny gimped their hardware from the times of wii back in 2006(it was stationary but had like 14W tdp, so might have as well be portable in terms of graphical fidelity), we dont want last bastion of consoles aka sony to screw themselfs with that too.
Plenty options for portable gamers already, if sony screws up their stationary console business trying to compete vs ninny at enemy terf i wont even feel sorry, same way i didnt feel sorry for this gen and last gen microsoft fuckups. Why can't we have options? What ports? It'll be a PS6 that can run PS6 game. For me the biggest reason I buy any system is games and if PS6 portable just gonna be system that's only gets ports of consoles versions then I have no use for it.
PS5 can already do save syncing. Sadly it requires an active PS+ sub unlike Xbox, and PC.For PS6 games, I would like to see games scale down gracefully with not a ton of dev work needed. All signs are pointing to this being possible for the first time. If they can simply adjust resolution, extent of RT and target frame rate knobs and throw in PSSR 2/3 upscaling to prevent it from turning to soup, they might be able to hit the goals of a viable next gen handheld that doesn't hold the entire console generation back due to dev prioritization/trade off decisions. Saves should automatically sync with the console, if they own one.
Same with PS5 games, though I presume that's going to need some patching for those that don't have low power mode. PS4 games should just work out of the box.
Don't care for dedicated games. Without silly handheld gimmicks, there isn't a single game that can't also be playable on a console. Literally all the motion sensing, touch sensing and gestures are built into the controllers these days anyway. Just make for both and let the devs be free to choose where their game design efforts are focused on.
As to the hardware itself, an actual portable form factor, all dualsense functionality, with 256/512 GB SSD, OLED, VRR, 1080p and at least 4 hours of battery life is all I ask.
What I mean is if Portable version is just going to get the same games as the console version it has no use for me.What ports? It'll be a PS6 that can run PS6 game.
Want to play on a 4K TV? Get the console. Want to play during your commute? Get the portable.
While I'm not in love with this idea, I like the IDEA, that a "physical" item can be used between handheld and console. BUT -- I realize my dinosaur ass is gonna have to get with the times. Physical (or key-card "physical") games are going to die.Game key cards.
Serious post. Sony should ditch Blu-ray discs and use them as the unified physical game delivery method for the PS6 generation so the same game carts works with the stationary and handheld console. And since something with high-speed/capacity NAND chips is unfeasible from a cost point of view a game key card-type approach is the only option if you want physical games.
That's understandable. In that case, this certainly isn't a product for you. I don't expect this to sell Switch numbers for that reason. The games you need will be available on your console anyway. For me personally, the portable isn't about exclusive games. It is about portability as I'd like the option to not be at my couch to play my favorite games. What I mean is if Portable version is just going to get the same games as the console version it has no use for me.
I buy systems solely based on if it has games I want to play. I bought Game boy, DS, PSP, 3DS and PSVIta not because they were portable but because they had exclusive games I want to play.
Yup I'm not target audience for this. I dont care for portability, I bought Switch 1&2 not because they are portable but because they games I want to play. That's understandable.
