Half-Life 3 not announced during The Game Awards 2025

I pretty much believe they are probably 10 rough versions of the game locked away in Valve vaults. They probably are never satisfied with what they have created and start again from scratch.
There have been around 3 versions that never made it very far (less than a year) and the current one has made it 5 years

A game like Half-Life 3 only needs to be announced on Steam. Word of mouth will take care of the rest.

Half-Life is finished people get the hint 20 years ago. 2007 was it's last release…yep, 2027 in two more years, and it's on two decades past not happening.

The only thing that made me think 'maybe' was that there was mention of a shooter everyone was waiting for. I did think it would have been a bit odd for valve to announce it there, they'll just drop a YouTube video and let it do it's thing.

I'm still fairly confident it's coming soon though, we'll see I guess.

I didn't think it was gonna be at TGA, but it's still rumored to be announced this year, it ain't over yet!

It's been rumored every year for the past decade.

To the surprise of nobody... especially considering the rumoured prices to show a trailer at that show.

Why the fuck would Valve or Rockstar spend millions to show HL3/GTAVI when they could do it for free and still have the whole internet talk about it non-stop?

Well, sure.

I feel it's kinda different this time, with HLX datamining, the Tweet from Mike Shapiro last year, Steam Machine / Steam Frame on its way, the whispers to some of the people in the industry.

Compared to just someone saying "its coming this year".

But these things I mentioned doesn't mean HL3 is even close to beeing revealed, but there is more substantial things pointing towards something now then ever atleast.

It will likely be announced with their next Steam machine event. I remember Half life 1 was successfully used to promote Steam. They could do the same with HL3 to promote Steam machine.

There was some dude on this very forum who gave me shit because I dared to call Tyler McDipshit out on his schtick of telling people for years that Half-Life 3 is coming etc. Unsurprisingly, Tyler was full of shit yet again.

So, if the guy who gave me shit is reading this: Get fucked.

Games are so bad that people cling onto to these " ufo sighting " conspiracies. Game is not in development . It will never come out. Maybe one day after Gabe's dead and some private equity firm buys steams it will get a low budget no name dev treatment.

I do think they are doing a Half Life game. But it's not a SP 2D AAA game.

Valve is regularly updating a Source 2 project called HLX, which references the HEV Suite and Xen aliens. This is how we learned about HL:A (HLVR). So sure it may never release, but it's not the same as a guy talking about seeing a flying saucer while driving home from work.

LOL, Half-Lifers need to accept their fate and just start to openly hate Valve
I used to be a huge Valve fan, but that was when they still made games like Half Life, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress, Portal, Counter Strike, etc. Sometimes I feel like the continued reverence of them by some people is 10+ years out of date. I don't hate them, though. I just don't think about them any more for the most part.

As soon as i saw the news were from Tyler Mcviker, i already stopped beliving it.

you only got yourself to blame to lisent that moron.
Tyler was the one saying the game would not be announced at TGA and will probably now not be announced this year.

We should have a topic for every game not announced during The Game Awards. Not sure NeoGAF servers could handle infinite threads though.

And he, just weeks earlier, hyped people up about the game getting announced in December before. And this is by far not the first time he did stuff like this. I feel he repeats that at least once each year. I bet he will hype people up again about a Half-Life 3 shadowdrop or announcement when Steam Frame and the Gabecube nearing their release.

No actual huge game will be announced there. These big ass companies and big IP's DO NOT NEED Geoff and his shitty commercial award show to gain views.

HL3? Bloodborne 2? GTA 6 trailer 3? You would not see those at his show.

Also lmao who the fuck is Tyler Mcviker even ?????

There is a lot of hype in general, due to the HLX leaks and a number of respected industry figures coming out and saying they expect another Valve announcement, and Gabe Follower and Mike Straw specifically saying they were told to expect an HLX announcement this year. All Tyler added to this was to state that there were rumours of a trailer being made, and to speculate based on this that the game could be announced in November. He said he couldn't verify any of the release date rumours, but made clear that the game would not be announced at TGA.

This time around the release/announcement date rumours are coming from the industry as whole, not Tyler specifically.
