Your most underrated game?

I didn't want to bump up decade years old thread but here's it. What is your most underrated game.

For me it's Rose & Camellia - The Rose bride of legend. It's so perfect in every way. So simple but yet so satisfying.

What is yours?

I just played through the game you posted, and it was indeed hilarious and awesome. I call it "Slappa Bitch Simulator" lol

I'd say a hugely underrated game this year is Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo. It's a top-down Zelda-style adventure game (with some metroidvania elements), and it has some of the best puzzles and gameplay mechanics of the genre.

Definitely worth giving a try. It's excellent. There's even some really difficult sequence breaking you can do, that the devs were aware of and reward you for.

This year

Most people didnt push through the first part where the narrator is a bit annoying, but it becomes so much better. It's the most wait for it game I ever played.

bonus

amazing soundtrack, atmosphere, all around fantastic game, tho not sure if its underrated, as I heard a lot of ppl talking about it. 2021 game tho

Oh I will look into it. Sounds interesting.

Don't judge me, but I actually dig the crap out of this game back in the day.

Even though I still have no idea why the first game based on the Matrix franchise completely ditched Neo out of it :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Also honorable mention to this one:

The use of the right analogue stick to actually do all the fighting was pretty unique to me.

I have a soft spot for these low to mid range budget games. Everything is solid except exploration rewards, which mostly boil down to extra materials for leveling or crafting stuff. Love the art style.

I always love threads like these, its always great to discover fellow GAFers hidden gems. Thanks for making it OP.

My two games:

I rather enjoy mind-fucky games with twisted narratives and brisk gameplay. These two never get any love.

For me, it's Enclave. This game had an incredible atmosphere (with fantasy/Lord of the Rings vibes), beautiful and varied levels, amazing orchestrated music, and graphics that blew me away in 2002 (pixel shader water, sharp textures, bump mapping, big open levels, high quality character models). The combat could have been better (more predictable), but I still had great fun completing this game on Xbox Classic. I've replayed this game maybe 10 times over the years.

Of all time? Banana Prince. I played dozens of hours and always found something new. I reversed engineered the password system when I was like 11 or 12 to get all possible passwords to start at the final boss with no upgrades or to start the game with full upgrades. And I played it in Japanese in a famiclone, there weren't roms or English patches back then.

Shilling for UNSIGHTED is my full time job. It's a top down action adventure with a map you can tackle in any way you want. It's a Zelda game with parries and Metroidvania elements.

It's peak.

Came here to say Dragons Dogma but since El Hee-Ho El Hee-Ho has already mentioned it I will just say Commandos:Behind the Enemy Lines

First PC game I played.

Loved Commandos back then! The first game and it's expansion were a bit too hard for my younger self, but I remember enjoying the second game quite a lot.

I was so surprised at how good this game ran on Xbox. I need to get back into it but the fast travel was so bad. Game is great though!
Yeah the fast-travel might require some time getting used to. Thing is, with the Dark Arisen DLC they gave the player a fast-travel item that has infinite uses. Still limited since you can only travel to a few select places (that you have to create by placing an item there), but imo much better than how it was originally.

UNSIGHTED
Looks cool! Is it anything like Hyper Light Drifter? Loved that game.

It's similar to that, but it's way more Zelda.

It has proper dungeons that can be tackled in different orders, and there are quite a few upgrades that change how you can traverse the overworld (which is super fun to explore).

The combat is different, slightly more methodical with parries, it's really cool.

The vibes are similar, it's a decadent world even if for very different reasons.

Basically if you are in the mood to play a blend of 2D Zelda/Metroidvania, this is the game.

Fur Fighters on the DC. It's a 3rd person shooter with some collectathon aspects trying to find items and puzzles. The plot becomes like a James Bond story.

Never played the sequel but I really enjoyed the first one back when I played it.

i know you can only get 151 pokemons with a lot of effort.
but it's better then any other modern pokemon game with more pokemons.

a rare underrated gem
