Battlefield 6 | OT | Time to Sheikh things up.

My only issue with it is I'm finding that progression is too slow and reliant on the weekly challenges. Otherwise, I like it as well and I'll also be getting season 2. Hopefully I finish this one in time so I can get season 3 for free but I doubt I will.
I don't blame you for feeling that way at all. The XP progression is definitely snail's pace territory. My brother already maxed out but he is out of work so he's in the 100s already for basic levels.

If you aren't aware, you can reroll weekly challenges. We get like 5 rerolls per week that can apply to any week to date. It helps speed up completion for sure if you roll some that stack well with others.

Yeah I'm aware, thanks. I actually have every weekly challenge completed other than one from the second week, which is win two matches of TDM. Even with that, it's slow going.

Come to think of it I had gotten the phantom add on. Without those free tokens I'd be much further behind.

I think this game would have benefitted from a points based unlock system where you can 'buy' the attachments you like. Even with the sped up progression getting to the good stuff takes ages.

Switching to a new weapon is a chore, comparatively in Cod I can unlock all the attachments I want within one game of zombies.

Aside from the menu bug, the matches have been pretty good. On update day it was terrible trying to find full lobbies, but the next day everything was already back to normal.
Empire State with snow looks amazing (I just don't have the patience to play more than two rounds in a row).

The game is still great.

But today I got seriously annoyed in Eastwood. Some idiot was using the AA tank and just wouldn't take down enemy helicopters. It's incredibly easy to shut down the other team's heli game — you can abuse the AA without even leaving the base area. The moment the tank finally became available in the menu, I grabbed it and ruined somebody's fun.

ANyone else has the game kinda skipping frames since the last update? It's weird, it's like I'm getting high ping or something but there's no icon on screen and when I bring up the scoreboard it shows 7ms - 10ms everytime but I can feel it skipping frames. FFS

For some weird reason earlier, on both my pc and laptop, the CPU monitor is going to shut and I'm dropping to 40fps when normally I play anywhere from 120-180

Menu seems to be fixed at least.

Too many game modes in my opinion. We went from Conquest only to 2 dozen dang modes.

Progress does seem slow. First few unlocks come quick, they suddenly I need to be level 45. So it will be a drag to get there.

Enjoying the engineer. Always seems to be my eventual go-to.

I'm really enjoying this game, warts and all but with crossplay off on PS5 some modes take longer or don't fill at all.
But with crossplay on I'm getting into more faster but getting absolutely decimated by PC players.

Video on scopes and aiming in this game:

I will admit I did think the dual render type scopes were cool the first time I saw them in COD Ghosts. But it's definitely just bad for aim. Would love for there to be more options here.

The stuff about the actual scopes being too bulky is spot on, a lot of them are just unusable. I end up using the 1x mini pretty much everywhere in the base game (outside of sniping obviously).

For redsec I am still struggling. 1x mini mixed with the visibility in this game makes it too hard to spot targets. Thermals are good but they'll care you through most of the game and then your opponents are invisible against the circle. I've been using the 2x on my short-range gun lately and I think either that or lowering my FOV back down (which I really don't want to do) are my only options.

As this is my first Battlefield experience I'm really enjoying it but recently I've noticed that the game plays the same after a while.
What I mean is that each game pushes you to defend and attack using the same choke points and each match starts to play the same all the time.

Breakthrough is absolutely awful after this update. Attacking side is so unbelievably OP now with the vehicles and the points. Like on lib peak, the final point is OUTSIDE of the base walls. like wtf? numerous instances of this on many maps too. like who the fuck wants these attacking points like this?

Its commonly dropping out of steams top 10 now, I imagine after the most recent update a good chunk of players have moved over to Bongo cat.

Yea breakthrough is fucked, they really need to get it back to 64 players and the tank situation is just putrid.

I have to say tho I have absolutely loved empire state for the winter update, that map is just fun... We need some more vehicleless maps, I don't always need tanks and shit.

The game is great tho for the most part. I'm happy to see where it goes.

Jumped back on after a few weeks of playing other game's. I enjoyed those new ice modes they were fun and gauntlet was as good as ever.

I've been playing a bit every day, and the game is still a lot of fun.

Empire State in winter really does look great, and I had a better time playing Domination there.

I've been playing Conquest daily and it's still good. Even with the Steam concurrent player numbers going down, I've been consistently seeing full lobbies.

A few days ago I spent an entire night playing Breakthrough. Most of the time I ended up on the attacking side and we lost every match, so my opinion of the changes from the last update isn't exactly negative, lol.

I finished the Winter Battle Pass because I really wanted the final item. I managed to complete the weekly challenges in about an hour of play, after using the option to swap out the Gauntlet- and Arena-related challenges.

By the way, I realized I missed that dopamine hit from unlocking weapon attachments, so I decided to start using the USG-90 across all classes. That gun is absolutely disgusting — you can melt enemies in milliseconds. Hell, I'm even getting plenty of long-range kills with it.

Anyway, I'm already approaching 150 hours played and I'm still having a great time. The game has more than justified its price for me.

I suck so bad at this game. It feels so much more frantic and twitchy than previous titles I have played. I always get the drop on someone, but they still kill me as my shots do not seem to land. I tend to do a little better on conquest where I can play as an engineer and have some success taking out tanks and repairing vehicles. I think I am aging out of these shooters. I think they tried to make BF more like COD.

It's just imo adapting is all, hunker into a spot and just let the players come to you. Battlefield always been faster than what people would perceive it to be, it's not cod type insta death shot from behind constantly fast but it's always been a shooter where you can die really quick but if you hunker in around objectives I think it becomes easier.

Gotta disagree with you. I haven't played BF2042 but recently went back to play all from BC2 till this. BFV noticeably increased the speed a bit but before that all are significantly slower than BF6.

You can die just as fast in BF4, BF1, BF5 etc... I mean you peek out and you're dead. What makes BF different tho is you're able to be revived unlike cod, so to me battlefield is slower battles simply due to the fact your lives can be alot longer given you die a few times and can be brought back up.

I think what may be more of an issue is map layouts, and how they've made it where dudes are able to sorta tag you from anywhere and no matter what type of gun, SMGs are beaming across the map... I'm not a major fan of that tbh, but I think that is more of an issue.

I love it tho I've come to absolutely love the game, but once you do sorta get the feels I think it clicks

They definitely fucked up the netcode and hit reg after that last hot fix. It was playing so smoothly after the Winter Offensive patch. They need to fix console performance stat.

The devs have already gone on their holiday break. There won't be any updates until close to mid january, at the earliest.

Went to play for the first time since the game came out pretty much. The betas worked great, final game worked great during launch week and now I'm barely getting 20 fps, wtf.

My performance is really weird too. I keep having these half second freezes every now and then. It's like lag but my ping is always 7-12ms. So it's definetely not that.

Known issue and tons of peole are experiencing it, myself included. How it went from buttery smooth to this is pathetic on their part and I won't play until its fixed. No point in these seasonal updates if they are going to break the game entirely.

Edit:

Just tried again and I'd say it's 90% better now, think they pushed a silent patch out. Many are still reporting issues but it's considerably better on my end.

I really enjoyed quads until everyone recently decided that if you die you just drop. Redeploy towers are useless now because everyone just drops. Last two weeks just ends up being me alone in quads.

You really need to work as a team in this, don't you?
Not working as a squad is how I'm getting decimated in this and I think that's why I'm done with it.
I personally don't think it's a BF6 problem, they gave us the game and tools but unless I'm playing in a party with friends there's absolutely no reason to be playing this game.
Personally Arc Raiders and Marathon are going to be my GAAS games in 2026.

I mean it's a team based game.... so yea typically working as a team will net you more wins. I play solo and do just fine. Sure, sometimes you get a team full of snipers but for the most part spawning on squad members and reviving them will typically be all you need. Having a squad that properly works otherwise is just icing on the cake.

my rule when playing is if im near the top of the scoreboard then my team is shit, that's because I am shit, so to be in the top 3 means they are below even that basic level.

I feel great and think I'm doing awesome until I realize I haven't improved and my team is just complete arse.

Breaking games with an update seems to be common practise these days. I don't recall this happening so much in the 2010s. Devs don't test things anymore before rolling out to production.

Not even just multiplayer games either. Fallout 4 is broken and I've been playing RDR2 recently and it's in a worse state performance wise than it was at launch.
AC Mirage got totally fucked on console after the last patch. Nauzea inducing motion blur and stuttering, lods messed up, skybox messed up.

Stalker 2 worse after last patch on ps5 after game just came out.

I also read about Avatar being worse on PC.

Halo MCC broke the framerate in Halo 2 campaign

CoD Modern Warfare 2019 on Series X is a stuttefest for years now.....these devs disgust me.

it's such an unacceptable thing. We as gamers should be allowed an instant refund when this happens. Often times whatever problems they introduced never get fixed.

I really do like this game. Also a little sad that lobbies are slow on the fill lately. Makes me wonder if this game is gonna have proper legs like other BF games have had. Patches have been mixed quality. My squad moved on to Arc Raiders but I still play this a ton solo

Removing hd texture pack fixed it for me.
Figured out my issue after my pc randomly shut down. My stock cooler has 3 legs that popped out of the mobo. Not up to date on PCs but after googling it I see that the i5 cooler's legs just get pushed into the mobo so maybe I can fix it that way. For now my pc is working great with the cooler being pushed against the cpu by jamming a pen between the side of the cooler and the case since the legs aren't in lmao. PC was just trottling due to over heating. When I get my car working I might just take it to microcenter and get a new cpu cooler actually installed. Down from 101c+ when idle to 40c using my pen to push the cooler onto the mobo.
