Vince Zampella, video game developer behind ‘Call of Duty' franchise, killed in crash

Ferrari 296? Thats the Ferrari of Verstappen in Gt3 and newly added to Granturismo 7. That one is really fast. This is so tragic and very sudden. It is very sad. He is a legend in gaming development especially when it comes to fps like BF. Condolence to the family of the victims. May they rest in peace. God bless there soul.

Every time morbid curiosity gets the better of me and every time I regret it. Horrible way to go. Car crashes, especially involving fire, completely freak me out.

Hats off to those guys actually running over to a burning wreck and pulling him away

Damn, RIP to a legend.
Just spent a few hours playing BF6 with some friends yesterday and we were remarking how it's nice to have a decent BF again.
My condolences to his family and friends.

RIP, so sad. He truly was a legend, he made some of my favorite games and was responsible for bringing Battlefield back from the brink. Deepest condolences to his family and his friends.

Actually worse than Maxs GT3 car, cuz the GT3 isnt a hybrid and "only" has 600HP.
The GTS is a hybrid with like 820HP, no roll cage, no roof, is faster than the GT3(track dependant)..............once the fire started the driver was all but doomed if he even survived the initial impact.
The car was slag not long after the fire started, no one was gonna be able to pull them out without major injuries or death, by the time fire and rescue arrived on scene there would be little left of the car and in many cases they will douse the car but itll reignite so they just keep spraying and waiting.....chances of survival was near zero with this crash.

this is fucking insane.

was he racing? why were the other people there?

Based on all the donut marks and how the guys in the first video were positioned in multiple spots I'm guessing they were filming a car video. Then either by coincidence captured the crash or they were meaning to film him coming out of the tunnel and it went horribly wrong. The fact you can see somebody right at the side of the tunnel entrance that appears to be filming makes me think it was planned as part of something they were filming. But even then they could have been filming somebody else and got this by coincidence or Vince saw them filming and made a tragic mistake to try and show off. In the second video of the motorcycle pulling up you see that all those guys in the first video had also fled the scene so obviously they didn't want to be around when authorities arrived. Either worried that they would be held accountable if they were filming some kind of video or of course the possibility they are undocumented.

That is all assuming the video is legit and the same crash obviously.

Damn rip .

But this smells like dangerous driving. Single car on a scenic road? Car caught on fire? Passenger ejected?

Probably going 100 on a 30.
Passenger ejected aka it was female, and not had her seatbelt on. Vince was 55yo so defo had plenty fire/desire in him still, including for making games ofc, as for other activities any relatively healthy male loves/needs- he didnt make that crazy amount of money and reached his lvl of status to stay celibate...
His wife filled for divorce in 2015, just gotta add 2 to 2 here.
Ofc we shouldnt judge/assume, but being humans, im sure many of us thinking what im thinking.

Big loss for gaming industry nonetheless, guy was basically GOAT of fps genre, super sad loss, i know from moral standpoint every human life is precious, but logically thinking, his life was worth so much more compared to avg joe, yet he was taken from us way too early :(

Horrible shocking news.

Although it is hard to escape the conclusion that he probably got a huge bonus for battlefield six, blew it on an insane sports car, and was being wreckless with it.
He was already a millionaire. I have to assume he had the experience driving such cars. If not... Well, that's very irresponsible. Also, the copilot wasn't using a seat belt.... Life can go in an instant. These types of accidents are very dumb. Thankful no one else was affected.

The passenger was strapped into the seat. The car ripped apart which ejected the entire seat with him in it.

Vince was a genuine guy. Was lucky enough to have sat in a few Zoom meetings he was part of. A real game creator at heart despite all the trappings that came with being one of the "higher ups".
Thoughts are with his family and close friends and colleagues.

The whole seat was ripped outta the car.
Seatbelt or no, airbags or no.......that shit was flying outta there.

If it was a caged car the harness would be attached to the cage/body, they would still be in the car.......which caught fire shortly after the crash.
Its a hybrid, that car wasnt even gonna be worth scrap in a few minutes.

This is what happens to these high HP hybrid supercars when they catch fire:

cars nowadays, even 'normal' sports cars and not super cars are powerful, too powerful for most people in roads like that one he was driving. It can quite easily have been an accident without reckless driving you know..

Not wearing seatbelts is so silly.

Especially when driving fast.

Well speeding is still reckless, he was flying
