Stranger Things S5 trailer leak

My wife is a huge fan of the series, She watched it plenty of times already.

In my opinion, they've have dragged the series too much, the highschool/college "kids" all look to be in their early thirties.

Even Priah Ferguson playing Erica is in a fuckable age now (19).

I think that a lot of people (including my wife) are more interested to see who survives and who gets killed at the series finale thank the finale itself.

Where were all the complaints about plot armor when Jim Hopper, the fat, middle aged alcoholic, successfully took on a Demogorgon in 1v1 melee combat last season?

Show has superpowered pyshic humans that can snap the heads of anyone, a villain that can also do that easily without having to go through his evil plan, he could've literally killed all the kids in one go, but we draw the line at Nancy being Rambo? Cmon. All the best shows in the world have protagonists with plot armor.
You just made the show sound even worse then. All that filler that the bad guy could've just bypassed at any time.

bad movies endless trash GIF

You mean the build-up of a trained Police Officer who worked with Russian prisoners to attack and weaken it, before finally killing the creature? I think they worked up to that and it felt fine to me.

I watched the first five minutes of the latest batch released and I dropped it. I just can't subject myself to even more of this show. Let me guess they made that one guy gay due to pressure from a certain group of people who are much more niche than they would have you believe?

Aside from one scene in episode 7, they handle it pretty well. But for whatever reason they decide that the plot can't move along unless he sits everyone down and explain he loves men.

The show wasn't written this way in season 1.

Now that it's a giant tentpole event series they've dumbed it down beyond belief. Across the board the characters yell out their motivations and intentions ad nauseum as if it's for idiots half paying attention while on their phone.

You've got it exactly right. This is done on purpose so people who aren't paying attention can still follow the show. Sad but true.

Justine Bateman said in an interview:

"I've heard from showrunners who are given notes from the streamers that 'this isn't second screen enough,'" she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023. "Meaning the viewer's primary screen is their phone and the laptop, and they don't want anything on your show to distract them from their primary screen because if they get distracted, they might look up, be confused, and go turn it off."

I know this pic is definitely edited to make her look worse, but she does look a lot older (like in her 30s) in the new season based on clips I just saw on youtube. I see the actress is 27, and most hollywood actresses are able to pull off the college girl look, but not her unfortunately.

wtf

This is either heavy drug usage or malnutrition

Well it's not working due to me still looking at my phone a lot while watching their shows. And it's even gotten to the point where if I feel bored with the show especially if it's Netflix, that I just drop the show right away

It's crazy how much Maya Hawke resembles her parents(Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman).

Some kids look a lot like their parents. Some kids don't look very much like their parents or more resemble one than the other. She's like an insane perfect split of Ethan Hawke and Uma.

Everyone else is using unflattering screenshots to say she looks old, but that's not what I notice. I don't think I've ever seen anything with Ethan Hawke in, but all I think is how much more she looks like her mum as time goes on.

Its obvious will was gay for a while, especially last season when they were in the car. The coming out scene was kinda cringy af tho. But hey, not the biggest problem if you ask me.

It was awful. It didnt work at all. wrong timing considering everything else going on, and invite everyone together for the big announcement ? Perhaps there is a cunning plan for the last episode to redeem this

Yeah the moment itself felt forced and at a really weird time

I'm sorry but as someone that has been rewatching the entire show, Will being gay is mentioned starting with season 1 by his own mother when she mentions some people in school were calling him gay. Hopper asks her if that's true or not and Joyce looks annoyed and changes the subject. She then mentions how her son is more sensitive than most people, etc...

Season 2 Will is always possessed so that was never mentioned. Season 3 has Will frustrated at how all his friends are in relationships with girls and he's just...there, wanting to have his friends back. He never showed any interest in a single girl for the entire season (only kid to not do it). Then season 4 it's obvious where this is going.

It's pretty obvious this was always the plan.

my wife wanted to watch this over the last few days so I begrudgingly said yes.

Lets just say I am not too happy about this eating my time when I could be doing literally anything else.

It's spoon-feeding extremely generic Sci-fi slop with weird teenage romance mixed in.. Gives me the ick.

I remember in LOST season 3 (or was it season 2) the creators were promising enthusiastically that we were going to see Kate's wedding in a flashback. And I still vividly remember that my reaction was "Kate's wedding? Does anyone give a flying fuck about that?"

This is how Will's scene also played out.

Ok, right, so, this season so far has mostly been long winded and severely so.

The gay reveal, as a scene, I actually liked it. In the context of saving the world, it's quite dumb and hate the super individualist, near selfish side of it. Yes, it's a massive fear of his even in the time setting, but holy crap, the world is ending, surely there are more scary things to deal with than your friends being homophobic. Surely! This feels like a very modern-selfish-entitled problem today's youth have.

The way the season has constantly wasted screen time on this is absurd. The world is at breaking point but let's focus on the fear of a boy's inner turmoil of being...gay. If I were gay I'd be offended.

Steve is legit one of the few remaining characters I don't hate, and as an actor doesn't look ridiculous. The bizarre inclusion of Robin's joke was dumb, but at least it highlighted Steve's growth. What the hell is wrong with her, indeed.

Robin's actress, no interest in her parents, holy crap she is sick. Get help. Her character has been mad annoying this season.

Millie, classic case of child actor doing weird things. Quite unattractive with the fillers and at such a tender age, acting wise. Totally unnecessary.

Kali, geez, I believe you're a kid. Sure... pfft. That said though, her line delivery is really solid, eloquent and sounds good. She could excel in voice acting, really, a very good voice on her.

Holly, good young actress, really. Hope she doesnt fall into weird facial fillers that Millie has.

The explanation above that viewers need it due to multi screens makes a lot of sense. It does feel very routine as someone else pointed out when they use props to explain, or going back to nerdy references.

Overall this season has been alright. But could be significantly shorter.

Coming out of this, as actors, Steve probably deserves way more roles. He may be type cast, though, but that isn't bad necessarily. He gives me some Chris Evans vibes (CapAmerica, Scott Pilgrim). Holly is the new Milly. Possibly superior.

Let's see how they end it. Happy if a couple of people are just offed.

He had the Atlantean Sword. Clearly the spirit of his ancestors; Conan, Kull, and Bran Mak Morn was strong within him.

Not really even "I love men" so much as "I don't like girls" and "I have a crush on one of you bet you can't guess whooooooooooooo".

As a tactic to defuse Vecnas ability to play their fears back at them it makes a certain amount of sense, IF that very fear had been SHOWN to us, rather than an offscreen event TOLD to us. In a show with such a long run time we really should be seeing everything, told nothing. Even a round table scene of all the characters revealing their greatest fear to break them as a weapon for Vecna would have been cool, instead we get all these little 2 person moments that just make the characters feel more isolated from each other (as these scenes are often very disconnected from anything else going on). Will coming out to Mike and Mike handling it in a mature way (probably the very opposite of how it would have played out in the 80's between 2 kids), especially if the Mike/El relationship had ANY oxygen left so its clear Will doesn't expect Mike to reciprocate, could have been a touching moment and a set up to Will sacrificing himself to save Mike. But the showrunners blew their LGBTBBQ credit with the brash and overlong antics of Robin who has tread all of this water before.
