Battlefield 6 | OT | Time to Sheikh things up.

Season 2 delayed until February 17th.

I'll say it again, what the fuck are they doing. Since Redsec launched it has been nothing but incompetence.
They did lose their head man in a car accident not long ago. Id imagine internally they had some personal setbacks regarding Vince Zampellas passing.
Things like that will grind production to a halt especially if its a tight group.

I do agree the BP rewards were fairly ho hum, but I personally love having a start and stop point so battle passes for me work. I been done with mine weeks ago so I'm ready for season 2, I think they will make the rewards better as we go or hopefully.
I hope so. I'm really into Arc raiders right now, but I also have single player games I want to play. It just felt like Battlefield 6 was eating so much of my time. And for that first battle pass it definitely wasn't worth it. I hope you're right about the second.

With all due respect the effect of Vince's loss won't be felt in the next season or two. This content should have been near complete before Christmas.

Season 2 needs to be flawless.

I dont agree. Sure most of it if not all is complete- there are other things that happen in a work environment besides just making the content. Paperwork, HR, etc, let alone making sure it runs right and no bugs- balancing.
Grief Counselors, days off, funeral, etc etc etc will push dates back a few weeks. Things likely straight up stopped a few days.

Maybe treat it as just a filler game, I go thru phases where I hit it hard but then yea I got single player games and what not to do my main gaming with BF6 or some match style game to fill in the gaps.

I am so torn on if I want to invest in arc raiders, like there were 2 buddies that played more than I did but they stopped and I asked why they said too many fuckers, and I just am hesitant if I want to really dive into it.

I'm a pvp guy but in a game like that I am not interested in losing shit so I'm less aggressive, but I just havent come around to extraction mainly.

Just started playing this game finally. Feels like they toned back the auto aim on controller. It's a bummer because I enjoyed it in 2042 but it's a huge disadvantage now.

We were already starving for new maps at the beginning of December, weeks before this happened. The content rollout has been crap so far. 1 good map since October ain't cutting it.

It's really not THAT aggressive. Plus there are ways to keep important stuff if you die. It's the first MP game I've played where I can feel like a real hitman. However, I've only killed 2 people in my 2 months of playing for reference. Getting out in time is an adrenaline rush that I love. I suggest you try it.

Oh I have it and played it like I said I'm a pvp guy, but I'm not an extraction guy is why I haven't fully went in hard with it. Just not really into that style but I get the adrenaline aspect for sure etc

It's probably the lowest-stakes extraction shooter out there since you can craft a lot of stuff, the loot itself is fairly boring, you get safe pocket(s) so if you find a nice blueprint or whatever you can keep it even if you die. Plus the matchmaking takes playstyle into account, if you want to play more peacefully you'll often be grouped with like-minded players. There's a reason it been the first extraction game to blow up with a wider audience, so if you're already on the fence I say go for it.

Y'all clowned on 2042 but I bet those big ass maps are looking pretty nice right now, huh?
Personally, most those maps still suck. Iwo Jima ended up being the best. I think now with many of the new BF players leaving, Dice will resort back to making maps for the people that play these games for years. I bet the bring back Strike at Karkand or Gulf of Oman. They did talk about adding naval warfare so hopefully some stuff from BF4.

I still think despite the issues BF2042's launch maps were still better than BF6's launch maps. People complained about the openness and sizes but the game gave you many tools to help navigate them lke some of the specialist abilties (wingsuit, grapplehook ,etc) plus the fact that you could just call in vehicles anywhere.

Also, somehow 128 player Breakthrough (before they cut it down to 64 which I never agreed with) somehow felt less overtly chaotic and more balanced than BF6's iteration of Breakthrough.

2042 was just a much more ambitious game. Yeah it was a fucking disaster at launch, I'm not defending that, perfect shitstorm of inexperienced team after most of the veterans left + shifting demands from EA to chase trends + game clearly wasn't ready, but I picked it up after ~two years for next to nothing and put a phenomenal couple of hundred hours into it. Even if I had paid the full price at that point I would have ended up more than satisfied. 128 players. Big maps with cool points of interest. Fun movement abilities. Vehicle call-ins. The widest sandbox and most player freedom since the franchise was PC-only. And I'll probably take shit for this, but for the most part I really dug the near-future aesthetic, guns, skins, the overall vibe. The weather stuff may not have changed gameplay much, but it sure did wonders for atmosphere. BF6 having static weather (usually just BROWN) is unconscionable after all the variety we got in previous entries.

Hmm, maybe launch with medium maps and then DLC maps are large. The people that stick around for the updates will be the ones that want them.

I knew there was something up. I literally had a dream about how awful the maps are in BF6. They really do suck and are so boring. I have my doubts that new maps will be better since they will be done using the same philosophy. I miss the older games because of the maps. He is right that BF6 maps are all hot zones. That is why it feels a lot like COD. Just nonstop action.

I'm all good with non stop action.. you can always focus on the quieter capture points if you want but I always go for the mayhem.

I swear the average battlefield player is a grandad now complaining about action in a warfare title.

BATTLEFIELD 6 GAME UPDATE 1.1.3.6

Update 1.1.3.6 is a small quality-of-life update focused on polish, stability, and targeted fixes across Battlefield 6. It addresses a selection of gameplay flow issues, UI reliability improvements, audio consistency fixes, and map-specific adjustments, with a particular focus on smoothing out edge cases reported by players.

The update will be available on Tuesday, February 3 at 09:00 UTC.

Major Updates for 1.1.3.6

  • Fixed player movement issues, including cases of excessive sprint-jump momentum and unintended movement behaviour. This won't impact player movement at a large scale and is meant to target those specific edge cases.
  • Addressed REDSEC Battle Royale issues affecting insertions, parachute behaviour, and redeploy UI elements.
  • Resolved a set of destruction-related visual and lighting issues on Eastwood that could result in lighting artifacts, blackouts, or incorrect colour rendering.
  • Fixed a handful of UI, audio, and stability issues, including crashes related to challenges, minimap accuracy, unintended gadget audio playback, and platform-specific problems.
CHANGELOG

PLAYER:

  • Fixed an issue where sprint-jump momentum could behave inconsistently and grant higher or lower momentum than intended.
  • Updated the Objective Ace and Winter Warning cosmetics to better align with Battlefield's visual identity.
MAPS & MODES
  • Fixed an issue on Eastwood where destroying a building near the A flag could cause unintended green or purple visual effects across nearby structures.
  • Fixed an issue on Eastwood where destroying a building near the B flag could cause a complete lighting blackout across the map.
  • Fixed an issue on Eastwood where destroying the villa near the B flag could cause excessively bright lighting artifacts to appear.
UI & HUD:
  • Fixed an issue where downed squadmates were shown on the minimap for classes unable to revive them.
  • Updated legal text to reflect current policies and requirements.
AUDIO:
  • Fixed an issue where UAV Drone enemy detection audio could be heard by all teammates instead of only the operator.
PERFORMANCE & STABILITY:
  • Fixed an issue on PlayStation 5 where ownership validation could fail during system lifecycle events, causing connectivity issues.
  • Fixed an out-of-memory crash on Xbox Series S that could occur when loading Daily and Weekly Challenges.
REDSEC

PLAYER:

  • Fixed an issue where Battle Royale Initiation matches did not end after eliminating the final AI opponent.
  • Fixed an issue where parachute deployment could remain linked to the jump leader after breaking off.
  • Fixed an issue where players could become stuck mid-air during insertion after progressing through the pre-deploy sequence.
UI & HUD:

  • Fixed an issue where the Second Chance redeploy icon could incorrectly transfer to a living teammate.
  • Fixed an issue where the Second Chance redeploy timer refreshed each time the map was opened.

Thought this was a good video on the issues with the game's maps and map design in general.

This video is spot on. Conquest in BF6 is basically just knockoff Ground War from CoD and has very little of the DNA that made the CQ experience in classic Battlefield games truly timeless.

I am glad you are having fun. Many of the maps are still new to me and yet I am already bored of them. Also not really being able to pick my server and getting tossed into random servers with random pings is really annoying. All of the custom servers I see are hardcore or have other mods and also tend to be empty. So most people are playing on the quickplay servers. I really miss having favorite servers where I knew the map rotation and knew if they mods were keeping cheater out. So basically, I only tend to have fun maybe 25% of the time if I happen to be on a decent server with a decent ping and playing a map I tolerate. It is all so random, when in previous titles I could be more picky and get the server and map I want 100% of the time.

Being old sucks in more ways then one. I remember the better BF games and the best BF days are behind us.

Yeah a BF4 type browser front and center with a quick search option for casuals would be better.

Some of the big maps with narrow centres could do with a "3rd lane" to avoid bad bottlenecks. But it's a good start season one. This game could end up going into season 16+ so I have high hopes. New map looks nice, golmud returning. We just need a metro type map now and something like siege of Shanghai back.

Never thought i'd see a F2P chinese BF knock have large scale naval warfare, dynamic weather, and now large scale destruction events before BF6.

Instead we're stuck playing glorified TDM on shoebox sized maps, using unbalanced weapons like SMGs that dominate at most ranges, and sniper rifles that are overpowered and make the few larger maps a pain to play as infantry, and occasionally using vehicles that feel like a complete afterthought thanks to all the missing features, lack of customization, and poor balance.

All while dealing with an insane weapon grind where each weapon requires HUNDREDS of kills just to unlock a basic number of attachments. Good luck winning gunfights against the players with no lives who are using shit like thermal scopes that take hours upon hours of grinding to unlock.

When it comes to the modes...what in the world happened to Conquest? It never worked well on these small maps, but right now tts crazy unbalanced and is actually in a worse spot than at launch. Almost every match you're either stomping the other team 900-0 or you're getting decimated and losing 0-900. It is actually insane and makes me think there's some kind of SBMM happening in the background thats broken and not working as intended.

As for Breakthrough...the less said about it the better. To think this is the same studio responsible for BF1 Operations and BF6's iteration of it is the best they have to offer....is a bit baffling. Its also somehow gotten worse since launch, with balance changes that make little sense.

I could go on and on and mention stuff like the netcode, which is still a mess and results in too many moments where you rush into cover while being shot and despite safely making it you still die. This has plagued previous BF games as well, but because of BF6's lower TTK its way more frequent here.

This game at a fundamental level just has so much wrong with it, I don't see how they can possibly turn it around anytime soon.

Ran into my first definite Redsec cheater:

The report tools are not great, had to pull my Outplayed footage to get the name.

The BR is kinda dying, S2 needs some big fixes and they need to accomplish something with that big 2 million dollar tournament they postponed leaving all the 'creators' holding looking stupid holding their dicks. All the Redsec guys I was keeping tabs on are now full-timing Arc Raiders and Valorant.

On one hand, I almost feel bad, because me and my friends are big Battlefield fans and we always preferred it over CoD as far as playing together is concerned. That said, after about an hour at launch and seeing the state of Rush, I immediately noped out. My friends stuck with it anyway and in hindsight, I probably should've been more vocal about my distaste of it as it was quite apparent how awful the maps and flow were; not to mention everything else you brought up.

Dare I say I actually had way more fun with BF2042. It was a disaster at launch and I avoided it for ages, but I grabbed it super cheap later on and ended up dumping 70+ hours into it. It still has its issues, sure, but at least it was entertaining and far less frustrating than just one round of BF6. The gunplay felt snappy and visibility was far more clear compared to BF6. Half the time I have no idea where I get shot in that game.

Going to give Delta Force a try. It's free and seems to have gotten a steady amount of (Qol) updates so it might finally be worth diving in.

But yes, the maps are god awful in BF6. Zero room to breath, everything ends up being a choke point, it's a complete mess.

We gave up after a few weeks, everyone I played with just ended up moaning.

But that's the thing with all new games like this and once they started adding easy 'lock on' stuff, it was boring as hell..

Take the Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942. Perfection.

Big maps, dumb fire rockets.. you felt like you had the freedom to fly, but could still die with ease from skilled players..

Now take Battlefield 6. Smaller maps, instantly locked on from take off.. that's boring, and instantly makes you play different

And this is before you get to infantry. No matter where you are you're guaranteed to be under fire from somewhere, no room to breath or take stock, no room for any sort of coordination. It gets old quick..

I feel that's why I hit Arc Raiders so hard. You can go the full thirty minutes and not see another player, if you want, absolute freedom but still fun.

I'm not saying BF6 should become a walking simulator, I'm just stating that a game to be fun does need room for the player to breath..

I remember having games in Bf1942 or Desert combat where you could actually plan a route for your squad and have it play out over twenty odd minutes where no one would die, and it would pay off. In BF 6 you try this, you've all died seven times over in two minutes and the flag you were going for has changed hands three times

Zero coordination. Just ADHD bang bang. Gets very boring, very fast.

Its sad that DICE cant fix a bug where you cant blow up an objective in Rush. It happens on objective B in Blackwell Fields. It is there for weeks/months

The most concerning problem is Dice lack of ability to fix the game's many issues and bugs.
The last 2 patches were almost inconsequential. And the one before that, broke more things, than it fixed. And Dice still has not fixed the things they broke.
And people are really fed up with the problems this game has. Because of that, the game continues to hemorrhage players.

I just played Delta Force and Battlefield 6 back to back. Hadn't played Delta Force in probably close toa year, or Battlefield since around launch.

Played Attack & Defend on both games. It was the first mode that came up on Delta Force with the new map. Didn't bother with loadouts or anything.

Delta Force:

-Jumped back in without issue. Still felt competitive even though my weapons were a year old. Didn't feel like I was at a disadvantage.
-The match was intense and got chaotic at times but still felt team/objective based.
-Nothing felt broken or cheesy, and I didn't get frustrated or salty over any game mechanics.
-New map was really nice and laid out in a way that allowed me to play strategically and find flanks even though it was my first time. Earthquake mechanic was great.

Battlefield 6:

-Menus felt more like a F2P game than Delta Force, which is crazy because this game cost me $100 and Delta Force was free.
-Felt like a chaotic game of Team Deathmatch rather than a team game with objectives.
-TTK difference between leveled and unleveled weapons is stupid. Having to grind to be competitive is a horrible concept for these types of games.
-When I actually survived and played well, I was rewarded with an empty clip. Nobody was resupplying anything.
-The map I got was New Sobek City, where people just held ratty ass angles. There wasn't much room to play strategically or flank.

Didn't even finish the round. I seem to hit ALT+F4 every time I give this game another shot.

Got trolled for saying this months ago but 2042 was way more fun at launch. Finally uninstalled BF6 for now. I'll try it again if they ever actually improve it.

You are insane. BF6 hits you with a battle pass ad once in a while when you boot the game, like any other multiplayer game from the last 5-7 years. Delta Force literally pushes gacha shit on you and the menus are like staring into the abyss. Maybe you're spiritually Chinese.

I know what you mean, but the menus in DF are way more cohesive and feel better to navigate.

The F2P stuff never felt like it mattered to me since it's all cosmetic. I like cosmetics but never really paid attention to them in this game for some reason.
