I think it's great that 3rd parties are focusing on the Switch 2, especially in Japan. Lower specs often encourage work arounds and emphasis on creative gameplay, over raw horsepower and realism. Also, it's not like the Switch 2 can't output amazing visuals.3rd party focus. Especially in Japan. PS5 never reaching it's full potential because from a graphical standpoint development will be targeting looking good on the Switch 2 first. To the graphics whores, they'll always grit their teeth because they're never going to escape the fact that developers will be factoring in developing games for the fastest selling system ever, which is currently not a Sony system.
I lived in Japan for about 1 and a half years. The focus on a portable that can connect to a TV fits the exact use case for almost every single person in Japan. Everyone uses public transit. Everyone eats out more than in the West. Everyone works or goes to school way too many hours.
The use case for a console that only connects to a TV is still large, but the addressable market is so much larger for the Switch in Japan.
Additionally, with the cute and abstract designs that Japanese people prefer, it is achievable with lower specs. Perhaps that is because of the prevalence and acceptance of Manga, and the pictorial writing system. Abstraction and cartoons are deeply ingrained into the Japanese a way of life. You will see official government publications with cartoon characters, JR shinkansens with Hello Kity and One Piece designs... none of this is looked down upon.
Certainly, you have things like the Resident Evil and Gran Tourismo series, which always seems to be at the bleeding edge. But on the whole, there isn't the same focus on "realism" in Japan as in the west. In this environment, the Switch and Switch 2 destroy any system that is tethered to a TV to work.
