[MLiD] XBOX Magnus RDNA 5 Finalized

I wonder if Sony will just release the ps6 at a high price and just let cross-gen run longer than usual until they can reliably bring the price of the console down.

Sony is by far not paying what consumers are also their contract is much older than the recent price hike. they are good. thats why ps5 didnt rise either because they still have ram left for over a year. ;) i wouldnt worry ps6 will be 599 Dollar 649/699 Euro.

For sure they don't have any contract for GDDR7. Memory producers are now making 6 months contracts, and that is with trillion dollar companies. Sony is not on the level of Apple, Samsung, Nvidia, MS etc...

Am noticing RTX 5070 has same die area as the gpu part.

The processor part seems to be larger than average zen 5 cpu.

Their cost to manufacture might be similar to adding both of them?

You can't count on RAM prices to stay like this until holidays 2027.

Those prices can potentially be even higher (or lower of course). If they want this thing in 2027 they will have to secure memory in Q4 2026/Q1 2027.

It's going to be powerful, but the cost if going to put off the vast majority.

Xbox can't even sell their current consoles, one being the budget Series S. What makes them think a hyper powerful and more expensive piece of hardware is going to ignite sales? I have a feeling this thing is going to bomb.

It likely will struggle way worse than their current lineup but at least they are trying something different as current plans are not working
 
From the specs it looks at least 20-30% more powerful than leaked ps6 specs, since we can safely assume microsoft wont be subsidising it, minimum 1200$ launch price but wouldnt be surprised even if its 1500$.

But just like with XSX, main focus of developers will be on PS6. This console will get better versions but I don't expect really big differences most of the time.

Is it Xbox/Windows machine or Xbox/console machine? All this shit is confusing as fuck...

This is what they are banking on. The ppl who can afford it just paid 1500 for a console and the vast majority that cant will be forced to sign up to a streaming service and pay forever.

Imagine spending 1500 Euros on a console and then not getting any performance benefit out of it compared to a much cheaper PS6. That'd be brutal.
 
I can already see it coming: A €1200 Xbox and then Sony going like "Hey, we can easily undercut that with €1000 and for the casual crowd we'll drop a PS5 Lite for €800."

It will get benefits but end results will obviously depend on developers. Console should automatically play the same games with better performance/resolution (if they don't fuck up the tools this time lol).

What it's even point? They practically abandoned this generation; every time they fail they pretend nothing it's happened and they restart to waste money; why abandon everything at half lifespan when things goes wrong and again accelerate the next one? Meanwhile they fire thousand of people because "reasons". It's cyclic for them to repeat this inifinite idiotic loop. A normal company would have let it go after the disaster of this generation. It's not like the industry will end without a console branded xbox.

12GB is going to enough for PS6 games? (30GB VRAM).

I'm expecting 20GB sysram and 16GB VRAM. Or 18/18. Hopefully Microsoft comes up with a smart solution.

People don't have issues getting a 2nd job to get a PS3 but now it's a big deal that the next MS beast console might be over $699?

Definitely not an impulse purchase but a lot of people will plan to buy this because they're xbox diehards (even before details were known) . That is the target audience they plan to make money off with this now instead of the people walking into a bestbuy and picking it up on a whim. The sales will be short and explosive most likely. They will hit 5M easy I reckon.

We'll see. You underestimate MS' ability to guerrilla market this thing with influencers like DF, Tom, Jez, Austin, etc. They will get that installbase to pay the high price even if they only paid 500 for the previous model. They will be making money from it this time by upselling.

But what they're trying seems likely to fail.

What can they do? They can't entice customers back with exclusive games any more. That ship has sailed, and making another traditional home console will just produce the same results as before. Could they make a cheaper, console hybrid like the Switch and PS6? I'm not sure it would move a lot of units, but it would sell better than this branded PC.

One of the major complaints from the current Xbox handheld is that it isn't actually a Xbox handheld. It's just a branded portable PC that doesn't have access to the Xbox console library. Why would Xbox customers who have an Xbox library buy that? They might however buy a handheld/hybrid that has access to the console library.

This could be another concern with this new hardware. Will it allow access to the console library, or will it be just an Xbox branded PC? Will people who bought games on their Xbox be able to play them on the new hardware? If It's a PC then I doubt it due to licensing issues.

The frustrating thing is that I think we all want Xbox to do well. To go back to the 360 days when they were actually competitive, but I can't see that happening ever again.
 
Why are people surprised about the 48gb memory ? This is a pc running full windows 11,

Most of the gaming PCs now have 32 gb ram and 16gb VRAM , that's a total of 48gb except they are separate
 
I think this system will succeed in doing what it is setting out to do.

That is, let user have a great time playing games.

Anyone spending kilobucks on OLED etc would surely want great performance, right?

Clearly people did have problems with it, and thats why it struggled to sell like the other Playstations. And then dropped its price.
And since have kept the price lower.

Because you also had people complaining about the optional higher tier PS5 Pro. And by complaints you had a organised hate campaign for it within 5 minutes of announcement. "Get a PC instead" they said.

All while the Xbox Series X 2TB edition cost roughly the same as the PS5 Pro.. No1 mentioned that part though did they….. to busy taking discord instructions

68 CUs, very nice. Assuming each CU has 64 shader cores (like in RDNA4), the total number will be 4,352, which is slightly higher than the 9070XT's 4,096 cores. RDNA5 should also bring better performance per flops and much improved RT. This thing will be fast!....... of course assuming the leak is legit, and that's a big unknown.

Ok, cool. Well there is people who are interested in devices and this one sounds interesting. People are thinking this could sell 10 million units. If you owned a business would you want to turn away that revenue?

Knowing that a chip is finalized is different than how much watts it will use.

Though, to this day I'm still confused about 70CUs with 4 SE being the full die.
