I wonder if Sony will just release the ps6 at a high price and just let cross-gen run longer than usual until they can reliably bring the price of the console down.
Sony is by far not paying what consumers are also their contract is much older than the recent price hike. they are good. thats why ps5 didnt rise either because they still have ram left for over a year.RAM alone is more than 300$ - estimates for PS6 based on current prices. If the want 30GB GDDR7 600$ console in 2027/2028 they will have to eat up some bigger losses on every unit sold (not PS3 levels but much more than PS4 and PS5)...

Cool.Its a SoC. 5080 dont have CPUs.
Also. Its 2 chiplets. 144mm² + 264mm². Its no where as complex as doing a single 407mm² monolithic die.
It's SOC not only the CPU, Zen5 is something around 70mm2 for one tile + 120mm2 soc.Cool.
Am noticing RTX 5070 has same die area as the gpu part.
The processor part seems to be larger than average zen 5 cpu.
Their cost to manufacture might be similar to adding both of them?
You can't count on RAM prices to stay like this until holidays 2027.RAM alone is more than 300$ - estimates for PS6 based on current prices. 192bit bus. See? Was it that hard, Sony?

Those prices can potentially be even higher (or lower of course). If they want this thing in 2027 they will have to secure memory in Q4 2026/Q1 2027.
Ftfyit's an PC with full Xbox emulation.
the bigger question is if it will get a patch to actually use the new hardware properly
Lmao that was hilarious. Started my Friday off with a laugh
2027 is Year of XboxIt's going to be powerful, but the cost if going to put off the vast majority.
Xbox can't even sell their current consoles, one being the budget Series S. What makes them think a hyper powerful and more expensive piece of hardware is going to ignite sales? I have a feeling this thing is going to bomb.
It likely will struggle way worse than their current lineup but at least they are trying something different as current plans are not workingIt's going to be powerful, but the cost if going to put off the vast majority.

Actual megaton? That's a lot of chip.
From the specs it looks at least 20-30% more powerful than leaked ps6 specs, since we can safely assume microsoft wont be subsidising it, minimum 1200$ launch price but wouldnt be surprised even if its 1500$.
Imagine spending 1500 Euros on a console and then not getting any performance benefit out of it compared to a much cheaper PS6. That'd be brutal. But just like with XSX, main focus of developers will be on PS6. This console will get better versions but I don't expect really big differences most of the time.

What it's even point? They practically abandoned this generation; every time they fail they pretend nothing it's happened and they persist to waste money. Just why? A normal company would have let it go after the disaster of this generation. It's not like the industry will end without a console branded xbox. What, Why?
MS first party variant is definitely gonna be 36 GB GDDR7 RAM, with 36 GB unified for Console SKUs, and 24 GB system ram with 12 GB vram allocation for the Steam/Epic PC games.
OEMs will be doing Xbox Elite with 48 GB GDDR7 ram.
