Take a look at the current and future games from Microsoft on the PS5. If you have a PlayStation, you already have an Xbox.

Seriously though, if there's any platform to 'move to' at this point it's probably PC ( though the RAM crisis is fucking that up at present, not that it isn't doing the same on the console side either). That's the closest thing to a neutral ground right now. You can play Playstation and Xbox games there without having to deal with the politics of their closed console ecosystems. The way things are going now, I feel like the PS5 Pro is going to be my last console and it feels really weird to say. I've bought just about every mainstream gaming system since the NES, and I just feel like I'm done with that side of the industry.

Sony's first party's output has been disastrous this gen, and ironically their console is partially relying on Microsoft's offerings to keep things interesting. Their focus on GaaS and closure of Bluepoint being the culmination of years of poor management decisions.

Taking in consideration the high probability of Microsoft releasing their next-gen hardware much sooner, the power of Gamepass(tm) and their more open ecosystem, would that convince you to switch sides after 2026 comes to an end?
What kind of fucking stupid ass retarded question is this?

Nobody with a functioning brain would join Microsofts ecosystem right now.

Playstation is still 100% the better console and 100% the better brand.

Yes, closing Bluepoint and how they handled GAAS has been a colossal fuck up of epic proportions....their console is still 100% viable.

I am BEYOND thrilled that Sony is getting roasted for this. They completely sold BluePoint out and cost 100s of talented people their job.

Get the picture?

Isn't the PS5 essentially an XBOX when they receive a lot of their "exclusives"? Sony has sold like100 million consoles worldwide and they have no serious competition so they can basically do whatever they want. I don't think Microsoft supposedly releasing their next XBOX early will be advantageous to them when Sony has such an immense presence on the market.

Why in the world would you release a new expensive Xbox hardware and still put your exclusives on the competing platform? That's a recipe for failure and disaster right there.

If one can afford it easily, I see no reason to not go for Xbox Magnus over PS6.

Its a moot point really. Next question.
One is a PC (they already exist, and many of us have them), and the other is a console.

Consoles still offer things we can't get with PC's. Same for everyone optimization, better price to performance ratio, low power consumption, streamlined and sleek OS, and no need to update drivers or fuck about when Windows shits the bed with a bad update.

Magnus is 250 watts total system power for x070ti level of power.

Everything you listed is in its favour compared to a PC.

Xbox has far better 1st party releases but a lot of those release on the PS5 and the PS5 gets frequent timed (and sometimes completely exclusive) 3rd party exclusives so I'd say the PS5 is still the better deal as far as consoles go.

Absolutely not!

No matter how bad Sony might get, I believe they will always be a far better option than Xbox, a platform I used to love in the glory days of Xbox and Xbox 360 but no longer have any interest in as a hardware platform (I do still own an Xbox Series X because I own digital games going back several generations but haven't used it in over a year).

Microsoft interfered with the running of Xbox and completely ruined the brand and its reputation in my opinion since the release of the lacklustre Xbox One. Never had any real interest in Game Pass either as I prefer to buy my games physically (which is pointless on Xbox as most games only have a launcher to download the game on the actual disc, if there is even a disc in the box). On PC, I buy digitally, of course, but that is offset by the ability to buy cheap keys from third-party sellers so I don't mind that.

It really isn't, and you'll see that when it releases and barely sells anything.

What Magnus sells in its lifetime, PS6 will do in a couple of days. Hell, even an actual new true Xbox console would.

Was talking to a friend last night about the Bluepoint thing and I mentioned that the vast majority of my 3P spend is already going to Steam and GOG rn, and at this rate I won't be buying a PS6.

Insane that we are at this point when I was a day 1 PS5 buyer (even told some of my friends that it was on sale early so they could get their units early).

As for Xbox, no one leaves a sinking ship for a burning one.

If the next xbox is able to play steam games, if Sony keeps releasing their first party games on steam and if is cheaper for me to get a next gen xbox than a good pc.

Yes.

Huh?

Why would someone, because of studio closures, move to an eco-system that seems like it's on the highway to closure itself?

I'd understand if the question was are you thinking of moving to PC. I mean even MS is moving to PC.

Why go Xbox when you can go PC without the limitations and with a lot more flexibility?

Pricing kind of sucks right now of course if you want to jump in but you can still find alright deals on laptops, pre-builts or in Microcenter bundles.

Everyone knows you are sticking with Xbox no matter what, but that's not what is being asked here.

I think premise of the thread is based on kneejerk reaction. No need for that.

Not a given I would get it, especially if its $1500. Will land at $2000-2500 equivalent where I live.

Lets wait for announcement, specs + price reveal ? I can see a lot of people change their tune.

It will be no different from Series consoles. With an option to install apps for different stores. Maybe will have some rough stuff that will get eventually sorted.

You literally have no way of knowing that, at all.

Maybe for current Series games, but not future titles. Future titles which will be PC games.

The only platform I'd change to is PC, but it's just so expensive right now (at least where I live) that I'm fine sticking with Ps5 for the moment.
Switching to Xbox makes zero sense when the few MS games that I'm interested in are coming to Ps5 anyway, and Sony still has decent exclusives from time to time (like Saros).

I guess:
IF the next Xbox is basically just a PC like rumors say
And IF the price is reasonable
And IF it's upgradeable like most other pre built PCs

I might consider getting the next "Xbox"

Move from someone who fails recently to someone who has been failing since the beginning of the previous generation?

Instead of trading one turd for another, i'd rather just change my hobby.

I love the overractions after any piece of bad news.
what a dumb thread. why would one move to xbox when they basically don't have exclusives anymore, and its gonna get much weaker third party support then playstation cause PS is gonna dominate of sales.

Switching from PlayStation to Xbox is like switching from an itch to chickenpox. Neither are perfect, but one is waaaaaaaay worse than the other.

Sony's failures are on the software side of PlayStation. Their hardware remains best in class. If they can figure out how to reverse their overinvestment in GaaS and multi-platforming/hardware devaluation strategies, they'll be fine.

Oh, absolutely. Why take all third-party games, all Sony games and all Xbox games, if Bluepoint is gone?

Best to switch to Xbox and get a subset of that while gaining literally nothing else on a more expensive, less powerful and dying platform.

you can get a ps5 digital for the price of a series s. so picking xbox is down right stupid at this point.

I actually just bought a series X to tie me over until the Steam machine or Magnus arrives and also to have a disk drive BC machine. Have an extensive digital library on Xbox but only kept a SeriesS this gen as a secondary console.
Thought that maybe PlayStation could reignite my interest but their offering has just become so incredibly stale and lame. The closure of Japan Studios and that insane GaaS push had left a bitter taste in my mouth and the Bluepoint closure was the final nail in the coffin for me.
I noticed how my gaming tastes have changed in the past decades and that the main interest was in third party games that are now multiplatform anyway. The first party offerings that did interest me like God of War have been changed so much that they are no longer worth my time.

Worst case it will perform like PC.

These days consoles perform like equivalent pc hardware only.

Specific optimisation is dead.

Xbox Series hardware, I would compare it to Apple.

My xbox is 5 yrs of daily use. Completely silent, looks and feels brand new.

Weird topic to make after Sony closed a studio of 70 people whose last game was a game that probably sold like 2M copies.

Sony did some wrong moves chasing the GaaS business for sure, but it's totally salvageable and they have been course-correcting for a while. Naughty Dog working on a new IP, Sony Santa Monica working on 2 AAA titles, Housemarque about to release another single player game, Nixxes keep releasing successful ports, Sony Bend working on a new IP and its NOT a live game, Insomniac working on Wolverine and i'm sure more games (at least 1 more), Polyphony working on Gran Turismo 8 and updates for GT7, Suckerpunch just released a successful single player game and are about to release its online mode, Team Asobi released 2024's GOTY game and are working on their next game, San Diego with MLB, Bungie with Marathon, XDev keeps getting great deals for PS consoles, partnerships with all the big brands like GTA, Fortnite, etc...Kojima making a new PS game as well, Media Molecule are still opened even after the fact their last successful game released in 2011 working on something, etc...

Their hardware team also deserves some kudos. They are good not only at always having components no matter what the crisis is going on since 2022 and only managed to increase prices for the PS5 once in most territories. PS Portal is a hit, PS VR2 was good, but clearly people aren't here for VR to be mainstream, etc...

Xbox studios keep bleeding hundreds of people every quarter...closed multiple studios just last year (way bigger studios than Bluepoint actually) games keep releasing to mediocre to bad reviews (Sony at least delivers) from both Bethesda and Activision, Gamepass is a failure, people stopped buying games over there as well. Their subscriptions hit ridiculous prices, Series S is something that they shouldn't have released and it's as expensive as a PS5 slim now and Series X is now almost as expensive as a PS5 Pro in some territories. This alone is a failure that i can't even begin to grasp...but it doesn't end here.

Moving from Sony because (as i said) they closed a studio with 70 people to move to Xbox which is a failed hardware company and an even bigger failure as a software company that's actively working to destroy the big IPs they acquired like the biggest gaming IP COD and whose only decent working studio is the one that's making Forza Horizon? An IP that's now releasing on PS consoles anyway?

There's not a single reason to move from any platform to Xbox currently lmao. Not even their cloud gaming is better there for years.

Xbox has games announced in 2019 (!!!) that aren't out in 2026.

Xbox, PS and Nintendo are going though some weird times. All with different issues...but Xbox is literally a failed business at this point. The others aren't.

If you really don't care about Sony first party, the series x is a way better 3rd party/multiplat console, Dev mode, quick resume, partial 7th and 6th gen BC, more comfortable controller, more controller options, cheaper games, looking for group options. Not popular with fanboys, but it is what it is.

The only reason PS5 is doing so well is because Microsoft fucked up even worse than Sony.
I keep seeing people say shit like this on here but is it really true? Sony has never released a badly performing console outside of the PS Vita. Sure maybe it would have sold 80M versus 92M or whatever it's at now.

People gotta try to live outside of this Neogaf bubble. I work with a lot of people that would never go on any sort of gaming forum or something similar and nobody cares about any of the stuff I see talked about here despite a lot of them spending a ton of time playing games.
