Resident Evil Requiem: Review Thread

CAPGOD strikes again. I'll happily take a 12-15 hour game, which will be more like 20 hours for me. Throw in the fact that I have children, and this game will take me 6 months to finish. So, I'm good with it.

Yeah, physical edition just sold out around here and I didn't pick a copy.

Gonna have to be extra careful in the upcoming days to not get spoiled.

But game is looking really good review wise.

I said 87 and I think the score may get lowered from 89/90 on consoles by 1 or 2 points.

From what I saw on some reviews, the plot is highly non-sensical like most RE games, and it doesn't hit some of the highs of RE2 or RE4 Remakes.

Seeing a couple of reviews complaining about too much Leon/action and not enough Grace/horror. Leaning 2/3 Leon vs 1/3 Grace, it seems.
Could it be that they liked grace sections so much that they just wanted more even if the split is 50\50?

"He's not eating it, Jack!" Lol like that?

This whole waiting game has me missing the weirdness of VII. This appears to be a much more rooted RE.

More lies from the usual crowd...

Consoles:

*Can also recoup most of the money if sold afterwards.

PC (if purchased legally direct from Steam):

55€ For an empty Box…

I paid 35€ for my Steam Key

That's a shame, if the case.

Not a long wait to find out now.

RE4Re was supposedly 15+ hours long and yet it took me about 30+ to finish it on hard on my 1st playthrough.

These short playing times mentioned are either : A) people that rush through games on easy or normal and B) in-game clock not counting reloaded sections/deaths/attempts etc etc.

Heck, people said that RE3 Remake was 5 hours long and yet, it took me about 12 hours to finish (in game clock showed less though).

Same with Cronos the new dawn, took me about 25 hours on my 1st playthrough on hard (another game which was supposedly very short).
People should always take media talking about duration with a grain of salt.

The unskilled activists have a limited time to finish games and write their review, they don't play like normal gamers.

Possible. But they did say it was 50/50 for the first half and the second half is dominated by Leon as it gets pretty action heavy.

I guess I'm fine with that. It does make sense to ramp up pacing as the story progresses

Skillup confirmed this. Actual clock time was close to 15 hours, but game showed 10.5.

I keep wanting to play horror games but i just never get around to doing so, and once I do like with Alan Wake 2 a month ago or so I can easily drop it too and its hard to get back to

But man, I'm missing out on some great stuff clearly, such as this one. Lately I've been into watching horror game playthroughs but I want to hold off with RE9 and rather play that myself.

You scared doggy?

Why do people automatically go straight to GS/IGN as the top tier reviews when they are clearly bottom-of-the-barrel even compared to YouTube channel reviews?

Just easy/quick reference points as early reviews were coming in.

Review average has landed at an 88, which again is great, but not generally GOTY-level scores.

Without spoiling who it is, can anyone tell me if any legacy characters show up (besides Leon and Sherry)? Reply with spoiler tag please

GOTY level score? WTF!? So score determines for you if the game is GOTY or not?

I'm starting really hate obsessed score generation of gamers.
