Apparently Ed Boon is tweeting about how should a Killer Instict game be released ...

He's secretly asking how much you willing to pay? Everyone is saying "fuck the price, just make it available everywhere"

How about worrying about your own backyard and making a good MK game again.

Franchise has been plagued by DLC garbage and quicksand movement for 15 years now.

Or not bring it back at all?

It's an overrated franchise. People are just high on the nostalgia.

It's not because you can't play the way it should be, that it's overrated.

Ki2 / Gold is still the best fightgame in the existence. But hard to master.
And with these days dpad, i can understand that games like that are really hard to master, unlike you get some 8bit controller.

Also, ki 1 is more about nostalgia.

Killer instinct on xbox is not bad, but it wasn't what it should have been.

But the bottem line is, it's still the best one at date

The best fighting game in existence? That's your opinion, and I respect that, but I'd personally have to disagree.

How about fixing MK first and start over with completely new idea, characters etc. ? MK 1 sort of did it but failed completely. But the again, as long as WB pulling the strings behind the scenes with their BS microtransaction, there won't be good MK games or Injustice for that matter.

The best way to revive KI would be for Microsoft to get their heads out of their asses and actually figure out what makes a game good and the community around that game thrive.

I miss the KI games because there was some logic to making the combo (and to break it you needed to know which buttons were being pressed). It wasn't just smashing buttons, you had to have a rhythm. Nowadays you a Dragon Ball or a MK game, press some random buttons (sometimes even the same button) and you get a 30 hit combo. It's so dumbified I don't feel like you are achieving anything.

I don't understand why Microsoft abandoned KI.

They had a good fighting game (not easy to do, as we see today), with a dedicated audience that bought their content. Sony evidently sees this as something worth having (not that I think Tokon will get there) but evidently MS was too good for it.

That sentence sounds a bit funny right now when you know german. german KI = english AI ;-)

I only know the SNES version, but I liked it. KI, MK and DoA are basically the only fighting games where I felt like doing something beyond just button mashing, playing it okayish properly.

I'm sure Boon is spitting nonsense. I mean, he needs to focus on his own IP more than anything else. Mortal Kombat just keeps on spiraling downward with each iteration. Go back to 9's design and gameplay!

It was huge at the time, for the fighting community. It was a brilliant game and well loved. Thats why people are talking about it.
No shit! The amount of attention the original KI and KI2 cabinets got in the arcade was insane. People asked for a new one for the longest and they finally got it and it did pretty damn well for a reason. Sure, to each their own and all that, but I think it's ridiculous that someone would attempt to dismiss it. I feel like in my life and personal experiences in the arcades the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct games always had the most hype. Sure, I saw folks play Samurai Shodown, Primal Rage, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, X-Men Children of the Atom, and the other Capcom Marvel games. But it wasn't to the same degree at all.

Just give me a Next gen Game, if Netflix buy Warner the game division could be closed.

He's also been tweeting about MK Shaolin Monks on and off for years and its meant nothing. Unless MS has behind the scenes given or sold the rights to KI to NRS, this is likely nothing. More likely IMO, it could be about their next MK game being a MK vs KI.

I want AI partners in the game. Local couch co-op AI partners that coach you on your gameplay and talk shit.

When I was a kid I played fighting games all the time with my brother and my cousin.

Now that I'm old, I don't have anybody to play with and playing fighting games for sweat online sucks. So I've just stopped buying them. I WANT to play them though but I feel they are just best with a local partner.

A local AI partner/bot that could adapt to my gameplay, talk shit about me, coach me, and generally play the 2nd player local couch portion of the game with me could be a gamechanger for fighting games.

I think the reason fighting games have went out of style is exactly what I've outlined above and fighting games have perhaps the most to gain from a real AI partner in game.

Well fuck, now I want this.
Would really work. I just don't want a tag fighter.

Let me pick one from either roster, and maybe one is just a tag assist option.

Bring the combo breakers from KI, violence of MK, animation of KI, visuals of MK, and a fresh combo system.

We'd be eating good.

Fighting games have had similar modes for a while, like VF4, VF5, TTT2, even SF6 sort of has a mode like this in the lobby.

I also think modern fighting games have very good sbmm setups so you're not going to be facing top players as soon as you log in.
