Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Me whenever I see Leon.

The RE games and Capcom in general do a good job at creating attractive characters.
I don't really like games with realistic graphics for the most part but Capcom manages to still stylize them a little bit and make them look interesting and not so uncanny.
They have very distinct and memorable faces I feel like in other games with realistic graphics they kinda just look like random forgettable npcs.

DMC5 comes to mind too, they don't look attractive in the anime character sense but they still have very subtle exaggerated or unique features that make them stand out.

What's your favourite Waifu

lol earned some Steam Cards but one of them just spoiled a character that is in the game for me. Apparently Sherry is Leon's handler this time. I assumed it was Hunnigan again. If you have subtitles turned on maybe it reveals her name too but I had no idea until I saw the Steam Card unlocked.

Her voice in the trailers gave her away. I also don't understand why they hided her face in the trailers and then the steam cards have her render art. haha

I Know a lot of you will be playing this on the PC and next gen consoles, but I can't get over how awesome this is on the Switch 2. The Nvidia DLSS is pure witchcraft.

I will say one thing..

Is this an indictment of an FBI agent in modern times? Five minutes in and this girl is going to shit herself if someone sneezed wrong?

Scully and Clarice would be fuming :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I'm actually glad she's like this an not a badass just cause she's in the FBI, I've interacted with some FBI personnel for my job that definitely weren't agents, just glorified desk jockys that were just required to have guns as a precaution, so basically just a normal person with lite gun training, she seems like one of these.

Even if you were some kind of special forces you'd be pissing your pants if you had to deal with what people in this game deal with lmao, especially even moreso if you were unarmed xD..
I think even the most badass person irl would handle it worse than Grace in this game is.

I knew it.

I knew that stalker wasn't dead. Her brain auto generated. 🤯. Also seems that Emily is special for them too as it didn't attack her.

Should I have have played seven and eight before this one, or is this one its own thing?
This is more connected to 1 through 6, than 7 or 8. It's still it's own thing for the most part, but I'm sure it would be more enjoyable if you have some more context to the lore and characters. Not a requirement though imo

So far I've noticed that the dynamic difficulty is a LOT less generous than it was in previous games. Sure, I'm still early in the game but so far it's been stingy as fuck with ammo, like 2-3 handgun bullets per pickup. It REALLY wants me to use Scrap to make ammo but the hoarder in me is resisting lol

Graphics settings are weird in this game. When I started the game, I was getting strange hick ups every time I closed the menu, a map or something the like that - which then faded into smooth framerate after a few seconds. Like DLSS needed to jumpstart. Then I played around with the settings, compared raytracing and path tracing (latter is quite impressive in this game) and put everything back again and now I'm getting smooth framerates with 3x DLSS (earlier it was even 4x).

And now I was not able to recreate the problems I had (framerate only tanks with path tracing on and framegen off, but that is no surprise). Hmm...

Wait is the difficulty actually dynamic??

All Resident Evil games since 4 (original) have had a hidden dynamic difficulty that adjusts things behind the scenes based on your performance. For instance, if you're having a hard time, it'll be more generous with loot drops and give enemies less HP. If you're playing well then it'll give you less and make enemies more formidable.

Is it just me or do they not stay dead?
I am pretty sure one of the zombies in the Grace sections came back to life after a while, I felt like I kinda fucked myself by shooting too much lol.
Definitely can't approach it like RE2.

I've literally played 10 minutes and it already better then the 7/8, finally RE is back.
And yes you know I'm playing in 3rd Person (Graces animations are excellent)

Oh! I had no idea.

Grace is such a non-character for me; should have kept her as an NPC.

Also, wtf do we have to do to get Sheva back as a playable character in another game?!

I believe that's also an element of the dynamic difficulty, which RE2R also utilized quite a bit. Gotta cross your fingers for those critical headshots so that they can't wake up in the future, or worse... I just encountered my first not-Crimson Head and holy bullet sponge... I think I should save the injectors for them.

The pacing in this game is absolutely magnificent once you reach a certain point. I was just floored with a scene with Leon and I didn't want his section to end but than it goes to grace and I forgot that she was just off to a very big quest before it cut to Leon. This back and fourth between them is super smooth and a perfect balance. What a fkn game man.

I really wish they allowed you to eject bullets, dunno why we're so many games into it and still can't.
You find a new gun and then you just have a full magazine on your worse gun you can't put into the new one.

Got her downloading now. Pizza ordered. Grabbed a nice olive oil base, chunks of roasted garlic and thin sliced tomatoes. Some cheese only potato skins for Lent. Got the dry herb vape warming up. It's gonna be a good night boys.

Triple Dipped, waiting on the pre-order code from Best Buy. Steam Deluxe version is ready to rock. Awaiting my Japanese Deluxe edition that comes with a Grace acrylic figure.

I'm not sure why they removed rooms staying red on the map that you still need to get items from. That was so useful, although it's kind of a hand holding thing. But it eliminates alot of going back to the areas not knowing if you missed something.

Ok Leon is badass and fuck me that scene when Grace is tied up upside down, the skin texture and everything was perfect which is odd because it skin looks a little matte elsewhere.
Everything about the way she looked there was excellent in motion.
