Resident Evil Requiem --- Open Spoilers Discussion ---

Leon is the face of the god damn franchise. STFU and get your ass back to bingo.

Nah he's RE Blastoise. Chris is the Charizard.

I need a mainline without EITHER of them.

A Jill game would be good for REX.

Chris/Jill are useless. The world better be ending elsewhere for them to leave this all to Leon despite knowing what's going on. Umbrella, Nemesis, Mr. X, Raccoon City, and Wesker all back, and they're doing... what? Also on that note, I saw that Chris was promoted to Captain in the BSAA. How tf is he only a Captain? This dude and Jill literally founded the BSAA. What is that ranking

Anyway, game was great. Probably my 3rd or 4th favorite (RE4 is still the gold standard).
Chris is not the Captain in the BSAA, he has his own team (something wolves ), didnt you guys played RE8 ?

If i m not mistake he is fighting the BSAA and even found at the end of RE8 that the BSAA is using BOW in combat, so, he is probably dealing with the Euro branch of BSAA.

What's the story with the dead guy on the floor where Emely stays. Did the stalker kill him? Is there any backstory on who this guy is?

The last step of the puzzle is supposed to be afk:ing while bodies fall into the processor for 15-20 min, then flushing the blood then flush a toilet 8 times and the doll is supposed to appear at the stairs in the area you escape from with all the blood on your way to the helicopter.
I've done it twice now and still haven't been able to get the doll to spawn :/..
Are you making sure all of the zombies in the pool when it drains are killed by the grinder and not any killed by you? And then you are flushing the collection pool afterwards?

I really enjoyed Resident Evil: Requiem. And third-person only for me... playing in first person does not feel right to me at all. It was a return to form. It felt like an RE game and they balanced it with the "arcadey" bits, and only for Leon. Had I known about this from the start, I probably would have been a little concerned, but they did it well. It felt balanced. I wish Grace could have had more weaponry similar to the older games instead of being limited to just the pistol and the requiem briefly. Oh and I loved the revolver (requiem)! Feels so good to use!

Really enjoyed it.

Not sure who he is but it seems to me like the girl mutated, escaped in the small hole in her cell and then at some point came through the roof in that room because there's a larger hole there and probably killed the dude.

Raccoon City needed more enemy and location variety. Imagine a sewer section infested with mutated alligators and Hunters. Or how bout going through the Clock Tower as a way to make up for RE3's Remake.

It just felt like they did the most unimaginative thing possible. Dull and drab environments where you collect three bomb pieces, fighting the same zombie enemies. Then you do an awful motorcycle segment ripped straight from the CGI films. Then you get to RPD where half the place can't be explored, and it's over before you know it. Like, I enjoyed RE9 a lot, but RC could've been so much better.

Also after playing Leon's big section, and seeing where the story is heading, I 100% believe it's inevitable they're going to accidentally make RE6 again.
I was really hoping for that! Next time maybe? lol

Makes sense. And he's freaking out telling grace to stay away from her because he witnessed one of them mutating.

I wish they leaned more heavily into the idea of Gideon being a nemesis. Imagine if the care center had more to do as Leon but you had him stalking you like nemesis from OG 3. He would drop some sweet loot if you incapacitate him, just like in 3. I know some people have grown tired of stalker enemies but there could have been some really cool dynamic gameplay sequences to come out of that.

One thing that definitely frustrated me a bit on replay is how zombies seem to be invulnerable before they've gotten up and '' activated ''.
If you blast away at a blister head for instance when they're turning or in the process of getting up they just don't react to it at all or seem to take damage.

I mean, I enjoyed the game overall and am hoping for a Merc or Raid mode DLC to add some replayability, but the story was kind of a letdown for me.

So what was Leon's goal or mission...why was he there again?

It would have been way better for me if he was basically on a suicide mission to find a cure to the disease that is currently eating away at him and, more importantly, Sherry. Having a wing engraved on the handle of Requiem I thought would have been a hint that something may have happened to Claire. Maybe she has passed from this disease and Leon has vowed that the same thing won't happen to Sherry even if it kills him in the process. The other option would have been to have Claire currently dying due to the disease and they are REALLY up against the clock. But to not mention her at all is a fucking joke.

I actually would have preferred Gideon also be looking for a cure and that Grace was basically somehow the key to achieving it. But everything with Gideon and Zeno just turned out to be kind of lame.

He was investigating Victor, it's brought up right at the start lol.

I know that, lol. But why? Was it to find a cure? Basically, he goes to investigate Gideon because of his links to the murders. But I would have liked the game to show that his overall goal is to find a fucking cure to the disease that is killing HIM and SHERRY. He starts muttering some nonsensical shit while in Raccoon about not letting this happen again. What the fuck is he talking about?

They were discovering bodies that were infected of survivors from Raccoon city and they thought Victor might be related to it, Leon felt like he never made a difference back when that happened and was carrying a lot of guilt related to it so I think it kinda made sense he was investigating.
Basically survivors guilt.

I got the bad ending first. I wanted to punch the damn screen lol.

I watched Maximillian Dood play and he got it too lol, his reaction was just complete denial and disappointment he immediately reloaded.

Yeah, I would have preferred a more specific "We need to find a fucking cure...NOW" goal for him. This shit was lame to me...and by the end he just seems to just sort of be there for no reason other than to help Grace.

Then we have a Spencer retcon and some nonsensical shit regarding Elpis. Just very underwhelming stuff, in my opinion. The whole Chronic Care Center portion of the game was amazing, though, but it really fell off hard for me after that. Grace just disappeared and it became a weaker version of RE4 for several hours starring superhero Leon S Kennedy, lol. Oh well.

I kind of like it because if people aren't paying attention they'll think it makes sense to destroy elpis and then get that nice cutscene.

I mean at the worst it doesn't do any harm imo.

and it can literally ruin your opinion of the game by making you feel like an idiot for having chosen the "wrong" option. No reason to even include it unless it adds some interesting twists. Just makes Leon look like a chump AND should get Grace killed as well if we are being honest....this Zeno guy moves at the speed of light and could easily track Grace down and just kill her.

The ending is obviously there because that's Leon's mission, I don't understand the confusion about it, in the end he even says "any password will do", because he wants to destroy it and then he trusts grace to get it done, but grace has more information than he does and takes a leap of faith; it's just there to show Leon's objective was wrong and the consequences of it, it's not an actual "ending" because they let you reload immediately to take the other option.

Yep that's right, Leon's goal was ill-informed.

You have to be a speedrunner who doesn't read anything to choose the wrong option. Anyone with a brain would never choose the Destroy choice. They make it very obvious which one is the right one. There is only one ending in this game.

I am a little disappointed we didn't get to fight Zeno tho ngl.
He went out like a bitch which was pretty funny but still.

Totally anticlimactic and might as well have not been in the game. Complete nothing burger and a waste of narrative space.
I guess him being there also helps to highlight just how effective the super antivirus is with it completely curing/revitalizing a near death Leon and completely neutering a matrix bullet dodger in less than a minute. Logically it should mean Sherry loses her G-virus healing factor as well.

Alternatively they're just getting in some more Wesker practice for the real deal in the upcoming REmakes. It's Wesker's VA from RE4R.

He's saying watch the ending, because you say chris is not a captain in the BSAA, but hound wolf calls him "Captain Redfield" when they find leon, and friendly BSAA take care of them afterwards and secure the location.

Yeah, clearly the BSAA civil war teased at the end of Village got resolved sometime off screen between that and this.

Yeah they gave him the Snoke treatment except we didn't even get a clone backstory, just vaguely inferred with a single line. And if he is, are there more of him?

I thought we'd at least fight him in the alternate ending but he just stands there and (seemingly) lets himself die.

The boss fights in general were probably the most disappointing to me honestly.
Especially Mr X and Victor they felt as if they were kinda just standing there not doing anything.

Zeno was just as pointless as Sherry in this game. They could've done alot more with both of them. And his aura farming was a little much. How the fk did that jacket stay on. Lmao.

When he first appeared, I got the same feeling I got when I first saw "Chris" in RE7......I was like, "Um...is this supposed to be Wesker...?" lol. But yeah, the best part about this Zeno guy was watching his head get lopped off so unceremoniously.

As I said above, they could have definitely done more with Sherry. The fact that Leon is in the RPD and is talking to Sherry and neither of them bring up Claire is just mind boggling stuff. Sherry and/or Claire should have acted as the impetus for us wanting desperately to find a cure to the Raccoon City Syndrome.

Hopefully, if they add a Merc or Raid mode then we will at least get to use a character like Sherry. Give her some special self healing ability or something.
