It'll come down to the story for me but that doesn't mean I need a great story… it just has to be serviceable. I can't play a massive game like this if there's no hook in the plot to keep me going otherwise it feels pointless. Again, not asking for much… just something mildly interesting, like a 6/10 story would be fine.

Is Zelda's?

I dont think the story is the draw

Its more like a dragons dogma 2 where the exploration of the world, combat etc is the draw I think

Story doesn't seem to be the focus here. I belive that in that sense, the game is closer to something like Zelda BOTW rather than The Witcher 3, for example. A sandbox to have adventures and quest on your own, rather than being carried by a narrative.

Yeah I believe the same, or at least that's the impression I get from what I've heard/read about the game.
Then that's a problem for me because I'm not a huge Zelda fan because of that. If the story is at the quality level of DD2 then that works for me. The story in DD2 wasn't blowing me away but it was enough to keep me going.

Depends on a few things, but mainly hinges on the console version being decent. After that, it's a matter of reading a few reviews first, then deciding if it's a yay or nay.

I've certainly not fallen for the hype so far.

Yeah, this. Just give me something serviceable, not asking for BG3 or Witcher, not even close. Somewhere in the middle between Zelda and them.

Probably not. Every preview I've seen has bored me. Maybe if it turns out to be really good but there are so many games releasing this month.

Been thinking about upgrading my 7800X3D. I'd end up with the game if that happens.

My only fear for this game is that it turns out like Where Winds Meet. A ton of things to do but the quality varies wildly. Every trailer for this Ive seen makes me think of that game.

Gonzito Gonzito i think you are the only other person here who played that game for more than 20 mins. What do you think?

nope. never heard of it until everyone on here started gushing about it. checked it out and it looks like cheap trash.

Already pre-ordered my key with a discount. This game looks like everything I've wanted from a game.

I loved it. I even made a post specifically praising it. It was a very well made game that I played for a 100 hours and I paid nothing for it which is insane. I think WWM had a good level of quality throughout the whole adventure to be honest. I don't know how it will compared to this one though.

I still need to check out that game, some people here on GAF really seemed to like it.

Did they ever improve the menu UI? IIRC that was the #1 complain.

This game is trying to be many things, not sure if that means it lacks a sense of focus. In one video I saw some random robomech flying and doing electric attack damage then there's a mech dragon and a real dragon? I'm seeing WWE type combat. Too many things crammed into a single game, will wait for reviews before deciding.

I 100% plan on getting this around release ...unless gamer feedback turn out to be horrible.

After suffering through stories told by western devs over the last decade I don't mind the story taking a backseat. Judging by the previews the game looks fun as fuck.

Yes, I will.

My only doubt is whether I will upgrade to Pro (which I have been eagerly resisting) or will take the bait this time. If the differences between both versions are massive, I'll have to.

Voted unsure because as much as I really do want it, I would like to hear some opinions of trusted GAF'ers and others before deciding to buy. Also, March and April are financial flustercucks for me due to homeowners and auto insurance coming due in back to back months so I have to really be sold on something these two months to try to squeeze in a gaming purchase. (Edit: And I already know I want MHStories3 and Pragmata, so this might just be a wait until late summer kind of game.)

Been on a minor media blackout for this but I like what I see.

Didn't know you could izuna drop though lol.

Already in.

Edit: On PC. Sorry if the console release sucks.

That's the game that's most comparable imo. Hell they even both do the observe an NPC doing something, now you learned it mechanic.
It's interesting seeing them taking opposite monetization strategies.

I pre-ordered it for €55, but I have 5 days to pick up the game with no obligation.

I hope we can take advantage of PSSR 2.0 on PlayStation 5 Pro, and of course, that the gamepad gameplay isn't a nightmare.

Unsure.

It looks technically impressive but an RPG is going to come down to narrative for me and there's a huge chance it could flop on that front and end up being another Dragon's Dogma. Some players will click with that but I could just never get into an RPG that couldn't tell a story.

Its not an rpg 🙂

No interest right now. Maybe down the line if people seem to enjoy it. I have so many games in my backlog, going to be very picky with new releases. Saros will be next up for me at full $70 price.

The devs said that this is not an RPG and they don't want it to be called an RPG.

They want it to take space in the same adjacent genre where Zelda is. So whatever you label Zelda, label this the same.

Are you playing Unity for the first time?
No, played it at launch on PC and enjoyed it very much at the time as well. I've been wanting to replay it for ages but never got around to it (hate using a PC these days), so I was ecstatic at the PS5 upgrade. It's still so good. :messenger_smiling_with_eyes:

Yeah I will. Probably won't get to it like all my other games in my backlog even though I'll buy it the first day. I barely got to play Re9 and Final Fantasy XVI. Got to juggle shit with playtime and life

Not sure, looks good on a technical level but directionless, I typically don't care about games where "you can do anything the way you want" but then story/world is not compelling and you aren't given any reasons to identify with your options or what's on screen.
Might buy just to check it out but I wouldn't expect it to catch me

I typically would label it Action-Adventure. Same with Dark Souls.

That kinda makes it a 50 / 50 then. If there's cool places to explore and abilities to unlock maybe I'm in if it reviews well, but honestly everyone raved about Zelda BotW / TotK being 10/10 games and they're both boring as shit. So who knows.
