Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

Almost done with Insanity run, but I cannot figure out the last Leon crafting item. I am at 8/9. I think it's something with the G+G+G.
  • Mixed Herb (G+G): 2x Green Herbs
  • Mixed Herb (G+G+G): 3x Green Herbs
  • Mixed Herb (G+G+G): 1x G+G concoction + 1x Green Herb
  • 10x Handgun Ammo: 1x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Small)
  • 3x Shotgun Shells: 1x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Large)
  • 5x Rifle Ammo: 2x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Large)
  • 40x Machine Gun Ammo: 2x Scrap + 1x Gunpowder (Small)
  • Hand Grenade: 1x Scrap + 2x Gunpowder (Large)
  • Stacked Hand Grenade: 2x Hand Grenade

1. RE2 Remake
2. RE4 Remake
3. RE7
4. RE8 Village
5. RE9 Requiem
6. RE3 Remake

RE2 and RE4 are godsends. Although I was slightly disappointed with the cut content and almost identical A/B scenarios between the characters, it still edges out 4 for its story, setting, horror and all round RE vibe.
RE7 is what got me back into Resident Evil. It was a return to form.
Village was pretty fun and had some good lore but it felt too much like RE4-lite.
Requiem is a hard one to rank for me. I loved the first half and loathed the second.
RE3 was a lifeless remake. They had so much potential to expand on the original and they squandered it.

To say RE7 doesn't feel like an RE game is disingenuous. If this were made by any other dev with a different title people would be calling it a blatant rip-off of RE. That's how much it felt like an RE game.

It returned to its horror roots, involves a mansion-like setting, backtracking, puzzles, inventory management, finite saving system (on the harder difficulties), ditched the "arcadey" feel of RE4, 5 and 6 and probably many more mechanics that I'm forgetting.
It's missing the juking element to classic RE games and honestly the backtracking and puzzle elements are a far cry from the original games not to mention the lack of enemy variety. It felt like any run of the mill modern day first person horror game with some minimal RE elements tacked on.

What a shame.

My last crafting item that I didn't realize was when you combine 2 green herbs so they're in an injector/vial. Then later add another green herb to that.

I was on my Insanity Run and was surprised at the section where
"Grace has to shoot the driver to prevent him from bulldozing you, in Insanity shooting driver alone won't stop it. In fact the Bulldozer gets super up and close to crushing you until you shoot and destroy the bulldozer with an extra piece of dialogue from Grace"
. Thought it was a super cool extension to that scripted set piece.

Finally finished it, enjoyed it quite a bit, a great game. But it can't beat RE2R which is, in my opinion, the absolute best game of the series. Still it's a really fun game, debating wheter or not to 100%.

I almost done with my insanity run, god game this so much fun and also hype for its story expansion.

Capcom is fucking killing this year.

Never really played a resident evil but might give this a go once my steam deck arrives. Anyone else playing on deck?
you should start from the beggining with REHD, cause if you play this one first it ll be hard to go back, also, its not great on the deck but it ll run just fine.

I did a full casual run on my oled deck. Performance was overall decent with the occasional hiccup likely from loading assets. It didn't mess with gameplay. Don't recall really messing with settings though, just left it on default other than capping it at 45fps (it wasn't always stable but consistent enough for me).

I took my sweet time, but I'm finally watching the credits roll. I thought some parts were better than others, but all in all, it was bloody awesome. I'll definitely play through it again, but I doubt I'll get the platinum trophy for this one. Not sure I like the sound of the speed run trophy, or the higher difficulty (finished on Standard Modern, so I'll try again on classic).

Total play time 14:11:43. Just need to trim off 10 hours for the speed run trophy 😂

Insanity difficulty is not as difficult as something like Akuma difficulty in Evil Within, even someone like me who's not the most high skill player can beat it.

I don't usually replay games either, but the speedrun trophy with no heals and no blood collector was pretty easy on Casual—and Insanity with unlimited ammo and the RPG might be even easier. I'd say you could finish both runs in about 3–4 hours each. My speedrun took me exactly 3 hours, and this Insanity run might end up being even faster. I'll know soon since I'm almost done.

I'm doing that difficulty without infinite ammo or RPG…..Not enough CP to get them.

But it's very fun doing without all of that because some of parts can become very tricky when you very little resource to work with.

I'm doing a no healing/no blood collector run on standard classic and it's actually really fun. I did the care center in a completely different way this time around. Basically left everything alive for Leon to handle, whereas I killed almost everyone as Grace on my first two runs since the blood collector allows you to craft a lot of resources. Now I should be able to fully upgrade Leon's weapons earlier. Really cool how many different ways you can handle this part of the game.

abandoning the plat trophy for good this time. Just too much other stuff in the backlog I wanna play and .. quite frankly it's a little boring after 2 runs. Def don't ever want to play through the slow parts again.

"Capcom is killing it this year" Resident Evil released in February....

As for the moment with The digger on the harder difficulty, I admit another stupid death. I killed the driver and stood all cocky like in front of it, waiting for its animation to stop, when it didnt. It ended up killing me and after that, I used a lot of bullets to shoot and make sure it would play nice, but again, another death I didn't feel screwed by and had a wee laugh about it

Why though? I like challenges, but Insanity isn't a challenge, it's slop. It was made with the unlockables in mind and that shows during gameplay.

Still, if you enjoy that then have fun mate.

GAF I'm not the only one thinking HDR looks washed on here right?

Been toggling between HDR on and off, and SDR actually makes the game look slighty better?

Finished it, its overrated. No inventory management, easy af bosses. Straight areas. The best part was grace's in day care. I mean its a good game but nothing like best among re series as many claim. Damaged raccon city is greyish area which doesnt cut it.

Village and RE7 were far superior game. Good fan service in second half but would rate it one place above re6, re6 being the lowest.

I feel like they could have done a lot more with lighting to lift Raccoon City visually.
If they had the time of day slowly transition from bright blue sky daylight to an orange setting sun as you moved through the areas, that alone would have made it seem less samey.

I felt Insanity became easier after I went down to the bottom of Care Center. At RPD, now. About to kiss this game goodbye, soon. But, after 2 playthroughs and getting almost all achievements. It's been nice.
Gotta make room for Death Stranding 2, at the end of this month.

Yeah I think most difficult part was Care Center as Grace. Still insanity giving me nice challenge especially I'm without infinite ammo it make resource management fun.

I wish we could talk more here, but it isn't the spoiler thread. that said. I enjoyed how the game allows you to tackle resource management. Using parries helps and explosions to take out multiple MFers.
Saving requiem for a good spot also helps. When i first got it, I unloaded on The Butcher's head, then finished it off with the regular gun.
There are a lot of ways to save ammo. I don't think I could have learned without redoing all the parts again. I basically beat it like 3 times in my first playthrough because I'd replay all parts again, for better time. Now that I think of it... I wantto get that achievement for beating it at 4 hours. So... another playthrough on easy, lol. And...with infinite ammo

That's why I always play on low health with grace. It's exciting to be on edge the entire playtrough.
That shit is annoying when you have stellar cans in your ear with an audio dac and atmos. It was like she was inside of my brain, moaning. I didn't know, at the time, whether to be annoyed or aroused.

With Leon section you could focus on attacking zombies that carrying weapons and use that weapon kill other zombies which save you ammo.

With bloaters I focus stunning normal zombies so kill the with axe finishers and destroy their head so they wouldn't turn when destroying the bloaters weak spots.

In Grace section I played it similar to I did with original RER, only kill the zombies in key areas that I need to comeback to and left others that wouldn't pose threat alive.
