Crimson Desert - Digital Foundry - High-End PC's Biggest Visual Upgrade - Ray Reconstruction/Ray Regeneration

We can all clearly see the Pro has an advantage in some areas and PC in others.

We just had Digital Foundry Season 15, Resident Evil Requiem. Season 16 is Crimson Desert. My favorite was probably Season 10 Cyberpunk 2077. Season 13 PSSR was also cool but a bit long.
Do i find everything on netflix or i need a paramount account aswell?

It's basically battaglia glazing ray reconstruction for 11 min and barely talking or showing the difference between i don't know, cinematic settings vs ultra or very high, you know what someone expect from a pc deep dive made by a professional channel, dude is more of a bag of tools than what xbox fanboys have been waiting since the launch of series X...
Just wait for the BenchmarKing video, it will be 10x better than whatever DF is going to put out in that regard. They've really fallen behind when it comes to optimized settings and showing comparisons for each setting.

I remember when nvidia did this shit for their sponsored games in their site, it was glorious.

Tbf i have a strong pc so i usually take down a notch a couple of settings and boom, 4k60++ achieved for 99% of games.

Once again us 5080 peasants gonna have to chose between nextgen lighting and 60fps at decent enough IQ( 4k dlssed perfomance is 1080p internal res).
Under those settings game drops into 50s easily on 5080 which means we will have to go with ultra perf 4k dlss aka internal res of 720p- 1/9th of 4k native pixels compared to 1/4th with dlss perf which siginficantly degrades IQ even more :(
5090 master race wont experience that problem at all, hell maybe they can even play game on 4k dlss balanced, if only i spent 4k usd on my gpu...
us 5080 bros will be fine , there's a optimization video on the way!
its still going to be better than all consoles and most pcs

The thing is Alex is comparing the ray reconstruction vs the standard denoiser on PC with both comparisons using ultra or cinematic settings. I doubt the console version will even be using ultra settings as it is (notice how there seemed to be way less pop in compared to the Pro footage) , so the difference between the PC version with ray reconstruction compared to the console version will be even larger than you see in this vid.

The differnce arguably looks even wider than RE9 with path tracing vs the console versions.

Cinematic sounds like Experimental from KCD2, i remember the performance hit on Warhorse's game was huge, but the key was to run everything on ultra and then Experimental for lightning or shadows.

In this case i'd say it's probably the same, they showed it on ultra settings with a 7900xtx native at around 60 FPS, the play would be to use upscaler and use that extra performance gain on Ray Reconstruction.

Stuff like Cinematic/Experimental on most settings are a great addition for future proofing their games, not like people won't buy this game when next gen cards release.

Bro was going for a hot girl analogy and immediately consulted his family tree

This thread is off to a great start
U know me too well, brah, i got so many posts deleted before that its only natural i try to evolve a bit to make it less controversial, walls have ears here, whiteknight simp walls :D

I personally like the GTA VI trailer spinoffs as well, pixel counting around tiddies is something else.

Yeah that dude is good for optimised settings.

I thought you were Polish. When did you move to Alabama?

Or Pakistan/UK.

Either the standard denoiser is extremely shitty or there is something wrong going on there.

Since when denoisers have the ability to erase AO out of existence? It looks like it's completely missing, weird.
Yeah I wonder if this is intended. Ray reconstruction does not add AO generally. It's there or it's not.

I think that's because their RT is low quality, they have 1/16 or something rays per pixel (whatever that means lol). Standard denoiser is too cheap and low quality to reconstruct that properly, while RR (Nv) and RR (AMD) are able to use ML to help them with that.

Useless video. No detailed info on all the other settings, no perfornnce, no optimized settings, no talks about anything other than RR. Fucking retarded. Also what happened with AO? Now all of a sudden we need raytracing and RR to cast it?

It's a pre-release build. Final version isn't out until next week.

finally a reasonable take on this thread. this is a really weird situation, it feels like enabling ray reconstruction enables hidden settings that are otherwise not enabled even with ultra preset

It says in the video that to help with optimization, the game uses a very low amount of rays for its RT. A low amount that the standard denoiser has trouble with. Ray reconstruction works so well it can render those low rays into basically what its suppoosed to look like.

Ray reconstruction always makes RT look better in the games i have tested, Cyberpunk for example.

Just dont play it in 4k, im sure if u got smaller 24 or 27inch monitor 1440p dlss balanced will work just fine if its ur native monitor res.
It doesnt look right/proper pristine on 4k monitor tho so cant be helped, personally will always go for 4k output when possible, question is how much i can stretch dlss for stable 60 and max or close to max graphics settings :D
Only bad example i remember well - back then dlss3.something looked bad at places in ff16 and its expacks, artifacts on some edges were crazy distracting to me so i indeed had to make even bigger compromises when it came to IQ, mind u 95% of the game looked fine enough, but that 5% looked like those old days before we had proper antialiasing solutions- jadged edges and shimmering on top :messenger_astonished:

These modern game engines just gimp features that were standard with traditional rasterization methods and put it back in with more expensive methods like RR that tank performance.

We don't know how it looks with standard SSAO. And in most games raster AO sucks donkey balls when it comes to foliage.
